@rockypants Listen to the opening track of the new album.. They are 40 years in bro and still releasing some of the best metal put to recording. Disgustingly good.

Good reaction but one complaint….never pause during a guitar solo. It’s a sin

This album is a banger from start to finish. If I can offer some reaction advice...never pause the song in the middle of a solo. Kills the whole experience. And if you do, just go back to the start of the solo. Good job.

Holy wars are 2 songs mushed together. First one, Holy wars, is about the conflict in Northern Ireland. Mustaine had a concert there or something and said some stupid stuff about the IRA and the war and later he regreted it and wrote this. The Punishment due is a story of the Punisher, Frank Castle.

I've never wanted to get involved in the Metallica/Megadeth who better or worse bullshit argument on a public level. But since I've found this channel I'll state my case and then never repeat myself again. (I know Metallica fans will thank me for it).
Before I start I want everyone to know I am a Metallica fan.
I remember decades ago telling a friend that was into punk and had just discovered Thrash Metal and Metallica specifically that he should listen to Megadeth because I believed at the time and still do that Dave Mustaine had more talent in his little finger than Metallica had in the whole band.
I may have been a little flippant given that Dave had the sense to use Jazz musicians in his first incarnations of Megadeth. But it certainly showed his awareness that if you're going to push the boundaries of musical accomplishment then you need serious talent. And he did that.
I'm still a fan of Metallica but more so of Megadeth purely because Dave is the godfather of Thrash and deserves his place in musical history.
A bit of a pratt apparently but never the less a musical genius and I have no doubt that Metallica would never have been anything more than just another hardcore band in the bay area if Dave hadn't injected his anger into the band.
I'm glad it happened the way it did I'm sorry it caused pain for the band members involved but for god's sake, we ended up with some of the most legendary thrash music just because of this one breakup. (Even before anyone outside of their home supporters even knew they existed).
This is seriously fucking amazing shit!
I recommend you listen to more Megadeth I think you'll be surprised at just how much Dave influences the whole genre of Thrash in a way that Metallica never will again!
    Enjoy the journey!

100% better than your last Megadeth review. As commented on other posts, please don't pause during a solo. You will have the "solo police" after you if you do.... 🤣 It's best to just wait until after the solo is finished then comment. Nice review. Megadeth's early songs often do not follow the traditional verse chorus, verse chorus format. They started using that format more in "Countdown to Extinction" and preceding albums. The earlier albums are not a polished as "Rust in Peace", but imho, the songs are more raw energy. The "Peace Sells..." album is my favorite of all the albums. "Killing is My Business..." and "Rust in Peace" bounce between 2 and 3. If you want, you should listen to the other 7 songs off this album before moving onto another Megadeth material. That will give you a good starting place to compare. As for the remaining 7 songs, 6 are killer. 'Dawn Patrol' is more of an interlude, being under 2 minutes long. 'Hangar 18' has 11 solos. 'Take No Prisoners', my favorite off the album, is pure Thrash. 'Five Magics' is fantasy themed. 'Poison Was the Cure' is fast paced. 'Lucretia' is supernatural. And 'Rust in Peace... Polaris', is a take on WW3 from the missiles point of view.

I always thought this was there best line-up. I like Metallica but love Megadeth. Dave has always had his chip on his shoulder so it gave them more F.U. attiude in their music.

Metallica ceased to be a credible thrash band when they released that parcel The Black Album. Rust in Peace pisses all over anything Metallica have done since 1988.

    • @ktgo4424
      @ktgo4424 Год назад

@@neilmurrell281 the Black Album is a solid album. It's just not in your tiny niche known as thrash. It doesn't need to be. RTL, MOP and AJFA kill anything Megadeth put out prior to Rust in Peace, so who cares? Rust in Peace can stand among those 3 as masterpieces. I'd rank them MOP, and then RTL and RIP tied for 2nd, with AJFA coming in right behind.
What's funny is, that many people (possibly you, based on your comments) think they are 'metal' by pissing and moaning about the Black Album, but Metallica is the most metal band in the world, and I'll explain. Rock 'n' Roll wasn't about making loud noises, it was about doing what you want to do, even if it spits in the face of current convention. Rebellion. When Rock 'n' Roll became accepted, then Metal became the rebellion of doing what you want, against current convention. It's not about being thrashy. It's about making music you want to make, even if it's fast and loud. Metallica did that. With Fade to Black. And idiots pissed and moaned. But, they were doing what they wanted. It was the ridiculous 'metal heads' who didn't understand that they turned into the rigid tight asses they claimed to be against. They insisted their bands HAD to play a certain speed, and to contain characteristiics. Metallica didn't give a damn. They played what they wanted, and made incredible music in the process. It was Dave who was scared to branch out and do different types of music. Not because he didn't want to, but because he was afraid to just do what he wanted.
Marty Friedman, who is a far better musician than Dave, has been critical of Dave for that very reason. He admired and respected Metallica greatly, because of their willingness to do what they wanted, and not to cave to some ridiculous rules put in place by the thrash police.
