I could cry. This is wonderful. I rowed singles and doubles back in the 80s. I injured my back and had to quit. Biggest heartbreak of my life. It's been so long. It feels like I'm right there rowing again. Thank you!
It’s been almost 11 years since I’ve last been in a boat. Going out sculling tomorrow morning. Very excited! Thanks for the video - it helped get be hyped.
Wow! Nice video! Haven't been in a boat since 2006, and loved my single scull. The PoV brings back memories that aren't just visual... the sensation of movement, my breathing pattern, the smoothness of the acceleration at the catch, the crisp cold air, the quietness of being on a 2k lake, being inhumanely fit... and beating the other guy by a country mile :D
•BFM Productions• Not that much, just need to be careful the first times, then it's good Anyway if you fall it's not hard to get back on if you trained once
Awesome! After watching a few coxwain POV videos, and this, I wonder how much more fun it is to watch rowing and make it bigger among non-rowers when we see the effort close up and not just from the far off side view. I love watching rowing, but I rowed myself, and I think people who never rowed must think watching rowing is as boring as watching golf or other silly things.
That was a good looking effort, nice rowing! No panic when you got toward the buoy line, just steadily moved back away from them. This does make me glad I am a masters rower though, only 1k! Who downvotes a video like this? If you don't like rowing don't watch.
@@vladtiminski nice, I have not been on a flu design yet at my club. We mostly race empochers and wintechs since im 15 I think that lightweight empochers are so fast
Great job man! solid strokes all the way to the end. Nice keeping the upper body elevated during the whole piece. Haha I sort of do the same thing as you what I'm about to tell you. The only thing I would recommend to work on is that I noticed that your tap down is a little to early. You need to let your oars come all the way out of the water before feathering them. Thats the only advice I have to offer besides maybe when squaring and feathering your blades instead of using your wrists use more of your fingers so the power/resistance being pulled by your legs and body doesn't get put down on your wrists and makes it up your arms so your upper body can take over. Anyways man good rowing and keep it up!
Thank you ….i needed someone to row along with me …it’s been almost thirty eight years …rowed a single after college but then life got in the way.. looking forward to joining you again in this virtual world …VL
Great rowing video while using rowing machine. I listen to the rowing on my Bluetooth headphones. Watching on 32 inch 4K monitor so it has a somewhat realistic feel to it; no water though. Thanks for posting.
We use to row a fiberglass covered (because of leaks) flat bottom plywood row boat back and forth from the main land to the island 1.5 miles each way just to get fresh water. Then I got my first 3hp motor and we didn't row anymore. The wife the other day told me about this cross fit exercise she was doing and she then showed me how it was done. Sure looked a lot like picking up concrete blocks off the ground and putting it up on scaffolding like I did working summers as a teen. What some look as fun others look as work. I do have a kayak but its only for where my 600hp Nova 19 cant take me.
I started rowing an aluminum flat bottom rowboat with a fat fisherman. Years later I bought a single, wooden sculls at first. A car accident limits my neck rotation, but I manage. Great sport.
What was your pace? I am 13 and today I actually raced a single. Amazing! I tipped the boat tho in the -10 degree water but I found this looking for how to get back into your single.

Thanks for posting Vlad. Can you post the equipment you used? I’m thinking of getting a recording setup and am starting to research what to buy. Thanks!
You can see that the slight hand and finger change to turn the blades up is so minimal that you cant see it. Then it involves some skill to keep blades above water as sculls are brought forward. The most skill is required to turn the blades and insert them into the water without splash. He is elite in skill and stamina. 2000 is a long way to keep high stroke rate without a mistake.
He has a coach, who he talks with at the begin of the video and seen in a coach boat, that I’m sure is keeping an eye out for him and the other scullers.
I used to row on lakes and rivers and had to turn and look very often, there were trees and other unthinkables. You just get used to it. I ended up in tall grass a few times, but never really wrecked.
