Wow amazing timing to have gotten your update, Jay. Just ordered an Evoluent D after hearing your (and a few other's) recommendation. Thanks for posting
Great information, I appreciate the time and effort put into the research!
Great review, I am in a hunt for THE mouse, so far tried more than 10 and none of them is doing the job. I have a big and large hand and there is not that big of choice. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!
Great review I was looking for honest pros and cons this was exactly what I needed. Saved me some trial and error also
Jay, Thank you for this video! Very informative.
Thank you for the review kind sir!
Great review, thanks 👍🏻
Great video and amazing production quality
Great review, thanks!
Thank you for sharing this
My good man, i would love to hear you talking about ergonomics in terms of keyboard
Happy to see a guy from father's age is doing RUclips and all 😊. In India still older generation consider it waste of time. Best of luck sir 🤞🏻💕
Very good video.
Thank you
I've never had wrist pain from using a mouse, but I get serious elbow pain. Using an ergonomic mouse has helped resolve my pain too - so it's not just wrist pain, it may be worth a try if you are having any kind of pain from prolonged use of a standard mouse.
For me I developed elbow and shoulder pain and noticed that it went away after using an ergonomic mouse
It isn't just your wrist that has to rotate but your elbow and shoulder as well. I also get elbow pain first and have had it to the point where I literally could not work anymore without several days of rest.
A good indepth review. I´m beginning to experience the same wrist pain after about 20y. of being a gamer using the standard mouse layout I´m in a wheelchair permanently so keeping my wrists as comfortable and loose is a must for me.
I bought a MX Masters 3 from Logitech a few days ago, and instantly noticed a difference with just that small of an angle difference, but it just wasn´t perfect for me. So I just ordered the DACOTA PLATINUM WIRL. VERTICAL MOUSE, which is set to arrive in the next few days, and I can´t wait to see how much of a difference it´s gonna make, because if the small change in angle I got from the Decota mouse made a difference, the almost 90 angle (the handshake angle grip) difference, must provide a huge difference for me (hopefully).
Update?:D
@@quartzarStill wheelchair bound xD
Thank u sir
EPIC!
I have 2 vertical mice that I really love. But I had to give them to my son as even the small flexion and extension in my 50 yr old wrist still caused me discomfort. Even with the wrist attachment. So I ended using a trackball now. No more wrist pain. :)
hows your left wrist doing? with the guitar
you can also move the scroll wheel to wake up that jelly comb mouse. Personally, that feature doesn't bother me at all. I do like the mouse except that the scroll wheel is wearing out on mine.
I'm trying the logitech vertical mouse now. Something about the shape makes it difficult to pick up. So if you are like me... and often pick up and reposition your mouse, it might not be the best option.
Sadly the Évoluent D does not have Bluetooth… they sell an older Version 4 in Bluetooth Version but I don’t know if there is a big difference with the new ones…
I really like that you have to press a button to wake up the computer... It is frustrating to me that i can sleep my computer and then I would accidently bumb the mouse and it wakes the computer. This is more of a problem for me because I use my mouse in bed and on the couch. Often I don't even touch the mouse, but just movement around the mouse on the couch or bed will wake the computer. So for me a button click is a feature, not a negative.
I have the Jelly Bomb. Not a bad mouse but after few months the scroll wheel becomes very slippery and it is hard for me to scroll with it… also I have small hands, may be with bigger it is not so a big deal.
This is so helpful :D
Clicking a button to wake it up (instead of just touching the mouse) is useful if you move a lot. Less chance for accidental wakeups when it is inside your backpack. Yes, there is a swich off button, but let be honest, how often do you remember to switch it off?
Requiring a mouse press to wake up is probably a battery saver.
They might have made it so the button press generates the power needed to wake up.
So it doesn't have to poll while being 'asleep'. Which then isn't real sleep anymore.
Great review. I ordered the Evoluent mouse a couple of days ago. I’ve read reviews that state that the finish wears quickly on it. Have you had that experience?
No, the glossy finish is quite durable. After a year, it still looks like brand new. It does seem to collect a lot of dirt and oils from the hand, so I do rub it down with a little spray cleaner on a cloth every month or two.
Using the forward and backwards buttons on the Logitech tips over the mouse because they're too high up and take too much force to actuate.
I'm using Anker vertical mouse, and so far my wrist pain has never appeared again.
I facepalmed when you said the Eirix has a dedicated NON-PROGRAMMABLE button just for toggling rgbs lights. Sad, I was exited by the mouse and button layouts.
Thanks for the review!
Does anyone know if Evoluent mice will work on glass mousepads?
Heya Jay! Thanks for your time, exactly what I needed! I was wondering tho, do you know if the Evoluent works well on a mac? I use mac daily with a razer mouse because I hate cursor accelerate on the magic mouse. Do you by any chance know if the Evoluent will do the job?
Thanks!
Hi Charles, I don't have any experience with the Evoluent products for macs. Might be best to contact them for more info evoluent.com/
@@JayPierstorff Thanks anyway! Just also wondering, my hand is the same size as yours. Do you recommend medium or large? Thanks again!
@@Charles-rd1rf I use the Large model.
Hmmm.. a $25 mouse, no complaints ergo that needs a click to wake up. But there's also Logitech's take on the popular "might not be for you" shape, minus a click, plus 75$ without p&p at minimum. It's a tough one. How does one even come up with this?
How about that 25$ mouse, but it also comes with an 85$ Master 3s for when stuff needs to be done? Free shipping, of course. Straight from the country of manufacturing! Could you compare this to vertical?
What helps me is pressing the mouse button with the joint of my thumb,, instead of trying to push every button with the tip of the thumb.
Hello again Jay. You being an avid mouse user and regarding the wrist pain: Do you think this new vertical mousepad thing by orb control ~$30 would be something cheap enough but still do the trick while using a regular mouse? I'm curious what you think about it.
I watched the video and I understand the concept. I guess I would need to try it to see if it would work for me. The thought that I had was it might be more time consuming for operations where you had to let go of the mouse to use the keyboard. It might take longer to grab the mouse and then find a comfortable spot on the board each time.
True. Yeah it would have to be more task specific, like for tasks that benefit from having one hand on keyboard for shortcuts and one on mouse for pointer intensive tasks like 3d modeling which I do alot. Thanks for your thoughts on it.
Thank you for such informative video! I've decided to go for the Evoluent one, thanks to you, and clicked your link, but the product on the link is not shiny as yours and looks little different. Is it the right link to what you showed in the video? I went to the official site and seems there are VMD and VM4? Have you used the other one too?
Hi K, Yeah the one in the link is the same. The way they photograph them, it is hard to tell that they are glossy. You can compare the different models here evoluent.com/evoluent-mice-comparison/ You might also want to watch the video on the different sizes ruclips.net/video/4RqNxAJoA2o/видео.html
Thank you so much! Yes I saw all of your videos on the mouse! When you searced for Evoluent mouse, did you also wonder what the difference between D (your VMD) model and 4 (VM4) is?
@@MITS621 Yes, it gets confusing! Finally just went with the most positive reviews on Amazon.
@@JayPierstorff Thank you so much!! Seems like 4 is version 4 and D is version 6 and the latest. I'll get the same one as you! Thanks a lot.
The veins on my right hand sometimes hurts, so I bought an ergonomic mouse
The eriex one falls asleep then you have to turn it on and off from the bottom so it can wake up.
Reason why I’m watching this video I’m done waking up my mouse all the time!!
Thank you for this review. I had tried Anker vertical mouse couple years ago. The thing for me was that for the click you have to apply horizontal pressure, so when I click the mouse it ends up moving the mouse a little sideways, like a drag instead of a clean click. I don't hear any reviewer talking about this. Did you observe this with any mouse you reviewed? Do you have to apply reverse pressure from thumb when you click?
Yes, I think some thumb pressure is required on all vertical mice. (if you don't counter the click with your thumb than the mouse will move when you try to click). That being said, I think the clicks need to be easy to actuate so they don't require much thumb pressure. I like the Evoluent very much but I have also been impressed with the new Logitech Lift vertical mice. amzn.to/3MF8uf9
@@JayPierstorff Thank you for your response. I have been long time user of M331 until I lost it recently in travel. I tried the new M650 and MX masters 3S (which is a good mouse, but a bit awkward and heavy for me), so now I am using little older model M590 which has same comfort as the M331, and works better for me than M650. Sure, I'll give the Lift a try. Thank you again and please do share an affiliate link for the Lift if you have one!
@@yk1 Thanks! Here is the link. amzn.to/3UeE8BC
My point fingers are hurt by mouse usage. I'm using a silent one, way better than the regular one, but it hurts when clicking.
I'm doing editing... Any solution beside a pauses?
If clicking hurts your fingers, maybe try a mouse footswitch like some of these amzn.to/3zwe8ZH
Thanks. Would Ergonomic (Vertical) Mouse helpful for trigger finger? I have to use excess mouse scrolling and click and I have middle trigger finger in right hand. Thanks
I am not a doctor, but I don't think a vertical mouse would help in this case.
@@JayPierstorff thanks
serves to play the vertical mouse
Hi Jay. Would you be willing to try out our new ergonomic product?
I am not accepting new products for review at the present time. Looks cool though. :)
@@JayPierstorff Okay. Thank you, Jay.
These ergonomic mouses are way too overpriced. I have been using a Logitech M330 for 5 years which costed me 40 dollars and it still works very good and it lasts 2,5 years on one battery with intensive daily use. How can these be almost 3 times as much when they only made the buttons more vertical? I'm sure it's not just the development as these things have been around for a while now...
I have more pain caused by all mice being far too small for my hand... than by being horizontal
Do you have any experience with ergo keyboards?
no, I haven't found any that I thought were better than others.
The design of the Eirix is absolutely infurating. You made a fantastically placed thumb button there, but instead of making it useful, you gave it have NEGATIVE value, making switching the stupid lights on something you're likely to do accidentally.
