  • For years, Atlanta's water boys have been making headlines for selling water on the roadside. However, some of them have taken a darker turn, resorting to mobile payment schemes that leave unsuspecting victims out of pocket by hundreds of dollars. Crystal Childs found herself trapped in a $200 scheme, and her viral TikTok video quickly turned the spotlight on this alarming issue. The water boys' strategy involves offering mobile payment as a convenient payment option for those who don't carry cash. With their friendly demeanor and smooth-talking skills, they persuade their targets to shell out exorbitant amounts, like a staggering $400 for a bottle of Gatorade. Unfortunately, there are even more distressing stories involving larger sums that caused individuals to fall behind on rent and other essential bills. The Shade Room investigates…

    Ppl are too trusting these days. It is no way you should ever give your phone over to a total stranger. Absolutely the police, banks etc would consider it voluntary because you voluntarily gave your phone over. About a year ago I added a pin # on my cash app after reading an article abt a woman having a contractor come into her home to do “ professional work”. He took advantage of her phone laying idol in her own home and cash app’d himself like $300 bucks. She confronted him and he pleaded for her not to contact his employer.

    On the rare occasion that I get to freeway exit or intersection that has people like them standing out there, I stop my car about 200-300feet back until the light changes and look right at them. Those people don’t approach me. I am not about to get ambushed by criminals. I don’t care if others cars honk or get mad. I don’t get close to them or let myself get boxed in where I can’t move.

    Make them go through the small business process. If you want to sell water on the street you must have a permit. If you don’t have a permit your legal guardian will have to pay a fine and get you out of juvenile. Also state taxes for every bottle you sell. Welcome to adulthood.

    • @amirrizer5069
      @amirrizer5069 Год назад +2

      Nobody kid should go to juvenile detention for selling water without a permit. That’s stupid.

    • @imoutside7429
      @imoutside7429 Год назад +1

      @@amirrizer5069 Stupid is kids killing each other over water sales. Stupid is not giving kids structure and rules to abide by to prepare them for the real world since they’re parents can’t. If holding parents (guardians) accountable for their child (paying fines) and penalizing kids for breaking the law (juvenile) after being warned what’s your solution?

    And why we're acting like there arent good and bad in every industry? From banking, policing, insurance, government official's and even restaurants, they're good and bad ppl, so why yall trying to demonize all of em?

    Thank goodness for this video, because I learned that I can enter a pin# as added security so no one can transfer funds from or to my account without the pin#! I just added the pin# for added security! Even though this is a horrible situation for the people it happened to, it also helped people learn from their awful situations! I personally would never open my car window to anyone selling anything on the streets & would never allow a stranger to touch my cellphone! We New Yorkers don’t trust anyone! Sometimes not even our own family members at family gatherings! Lol😂😅

Three, if you do drive down that street and roll down your window and do buy make sure you give them fake money and tell them you don't have a cash app or pay pal or any other money app. You got to know how to play the player.

    what about fingerprints on your phone? im sure they dont have gloves on in the hot and if they did that would be a clue not to do it. go straight to the police station and ask for your phone to be dusted to help your case. they may have been fingerprinted before . Living like that they eventually will.
