Thank you so much, Toni!! This is so well done! As a beginner in the art of crochet, you have inspired me to attempt this project. I am an experienced knitter who has long been enamored with beautiful crochet projects - and this is one of them. Thank you so very much!
Toni, thank you for inspiring me with this beautiful blanket… my granddaughter has watched me crochet and ensemble this blanket and keeps throwing out hints about how much she likes it… so, one Christmas present is soon to be completed!! Love your channel !
OMG... why am I just now seeing your instructions on this sweet granny square .. and, you have demystified the magic ring!! I've been using the ring, but struggle with it. Not any more .. woohoo!! Once again you have shown this ol' gal new tricks! Thank you!!🥰
@@theresahartman7465 No - the magic loop or ring is actually different - but it doesn't matter in the end, just do whatever works for you and you enjoy doing. After the first round is done, adjusted and the tail tided away nobody can tell which method you used anyway (without really close inspection).
I've been crocheting over 60 yrs..but since covid I seem to have forgotten how to crochet a granny square...thk you for you and your great voice I can understand right off...rock on 😍
Have just fallen in love with granny squares. I have tried for so many years to figure out how they are made so thanks to you I now know and am looking forward to a granny square project! Thank you for making this look so easy xx fantastic xxx
I've watched other join as you go and the tutorials were too fast or confusing. This was very well done. I've previously watched one of your tutorials on blocking and used your link to get those same blocks. They worked out really well and they include a generous quantity of those T-pins. Thanks Toni
I never thought to make a magic circle out of a slip knot! That’s a game changer for me, I used to avoid any project with magic circles because they always came out...not anymore! Thank you! What a beautiful project, I’ll have to make one for my May 2021 baby 😍
Oh My Goodness!!! Thanks to you Toni I just made my VERY first Granny Square and I'm soo proud!!! I have been trying to learn from other RUclipsrs to make Granny Squares and never could. Thanks again!
Winner winner! Always hated granny squares because of having to sew them together at the end! Sew together as you go! It is spectacular looking heritage quality. Think you got that right!
Beautiful granny square blanket. I wish I had the patience to make this but I don't. Usually when I make a granny square blanket i make bigger blocks and less blocks. I made a granny square blanket using 15 blocks using 3 colors. i have to give to you you got patience and talent.
I cannot begin to articulate how bloody fantastic your magic ring is. I have tried and failed so many times I used up hald a ball of yarn, having to keep cutting knots off the end to start again. You are extremely talented when it comes to all things crochet. Thank you 😊
Thank you Toni! I've watched many, many crochet videos but your video has taught me simple techniques that make the piece look flawless . The magic circle you show is genius. I appreciate how you begin a double crochet to the piece. It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. 69 an still learning! woohoo!!
I remember seeing people doing this, and I could never figure out why it is so confusing. If this is for beginners, then I am in trouble, because it has always been. Watching you today, made it much easier to follow. No bumps, just more stitches, On we go. Thanks
Toni, I can’t remember how I found you, but so glad I did!!! I love watching you crochet and your voice is so soothing!!! I love all of your projects...just wish I could Tunisian crochet...my old fingers just won’t work☹️. But I can granny square with the best 🤣🤣. Thank you for your wonderful videos...yes see you next time 🥰
That blanket is so beautiful. I’ve been trying for months to make my great niece a baby blanket and each one I’ve started with I ended up not liking it. I love the granny square. I can’t wait to make this. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank you, Toni! I first learned to crochet when I attended vocational bible study in South Georgia when I was in middle school ( I believe), and I stopped crocheting for years (over 20 years). I have recently started back crochet, and you make relearning crochet very easy. Thank you for all of your work.
This is such a beautiful Afghan! I am making it for my neighbor who is due in December. The magic ring is very easy. Thank you Ms. Toni for your time and all you do
I am a brand new crocheter. I have been trying to find a baby blanket that I can make for my first project. You go a little fast, lol 😂, but I love your tutorial! I’ll just press the pause button if I have to 😊 Thanks for a great video!
I have avoided many project that I adore but couldn't do due to struggling with The Magic Circle. (my nemesis). But now I might have a chance thanks to this tutorial. I thank you x great teaching, easy to understand and a great pace x
Thanks Toni, you are a great teacher!!!! I have been trying to learn the magic circle for years and you made it so easy that I was able to show someone else how to do it. I also love the way you attached the squares as you go. Thank you soooo much!!!
I love this so much! Just bought a copy on Ravelry. So kind of you to share it for free, but I think it's well worth paying for. Beautiful pattern and I love the colors you used. I also loved how you gave alternative yarn suggestions too. This is the first time I've seen such an organized method of laying out your squares and making your pattern grid. I really like that! And the join-as-you-go method. Thank you so much for sharing your skills! ❤
Beautiful pattern u have such a lovely speaking voice this is another one on my list to do this year .... also my Mum always had a Tea Towel (which she use to wet) in her ironing basket that she used to steam her knitting and crocheting projects with she use to say never let the iron touch wool/acrylic no matter how old they are ....
I just don’t know where to start about how good this video is. I’m an experienced crocheter, but I’ve never heard of the standing double crochet join. I love it! And I love this join-as-you-go method that you used. I was so excited about this pattern that I immediately pulled out scrap yarns and started working on it. Since I am a quilter, I’m used to laying out blocks and arranging them before sewing them together. So I made a bunch of the colored squares of just the first two rounds so I could use them to arrange on a board to get my colors right. Oh, and by the way, I decided I would weave in the ends on each one before I join them together! That really helped out! You just can’t escape all those dangling ends on granny squares, I guess! Great job! Now I have to go back and watch all your other videos! 😻😻😻
This is perfect timing, as I am looking to make a baby doll blanket with left over yarn. This pattern is perfect as it is customizable. Thank you, thank you! Love the video instruction, makes all the difference.
This is so pretty! I want to make a couple of lapghans for relatives for Christmas and I think this will be great for one of them! I crocheted your Bright Side blanket in lapghan size for my sister in law and I was so happy with how it turned out!
This tutorial is so great! I made this blanket for my future nephew. This was my first granny square project and I loved it! (Other than weaving in the ends 😉)
I bought this pattern and yarn few months ago but haven’t started yet. Was so glad to see a tutorial. I’ve been learning to read patterns and your video gave me confidence by confirming I can read a pattern. Yay!! One thing that is different from the pattern is the standing double crochet to join but I think that’s amazing and looks better than a chain 3. Thanks Toni! Love your designs so much!
I love this method, Toni! I've been wanting to do a granny square lap blanket for my daughter who lives in Italy, but always hate joining squares... this is the perfect solution! I'm going to use up all my little bits of yarn and make a multi-color blanket. Thank you so much :)
Thank you Toni, I loved this tutorial, will definitely give it a go. I am in UK, And I do get yarn envy, I don’t seem to be able to get the lovely yarns you in USA can. I do buy online but I like to see and feel yarn first, so the range is limited.
I LOVE IT!! Did I mention I love it? By the way I love it! I found a ton of Vanna's choice Bon bons on sale for a dollar a pack and now I've found the project. Thank you!
You are brilliant. This is an incredible project with many lessons. You are an excellent teacher - clear and concise. What is the steamer you use? Love the magic ring also. Thank you.
Super great video to go with a really darling and versatile pattern! I always learn something new from your videos! This will be another one of my future projects!!!😊
Thank you for this amazing tutorial and the description of the yarns to use. I was looking for a lap blanket for winter and this look like the perfect project!
I really enjoyed this pattern. I just did a variation of it that I am calling my "Granny Sudoku" blanket. I used 9 different colors along with a white background color and then laid out the color blocks using a sudoku puzzle to guide the color placement. So, when it's finished, the blanket is one great big color sudoku! Lots of fun!
Thanks for sharing it I always steam my work but when it is big I do it in blocks
I’ve been crocheting since first grade. You are a wonderful teacher. I like your pattern designs and joining technique. Thank you.
I love the way you teach. You speak so clearly and with patience, and not to slow to which it doesn’t make me to impatient. 😊
OMG... why am I just now seeing your instructions on this sweet granny square .. and, you have demystified the magic ring!! I've been using the ring, but struggle with it. Not any more .. woohoo!! Once again you have shown this ol' gal new tricks! Thank you!!🥰
That is the easiest magic ring I’ve ever seen! My new go-to! You are genius!
That was not a magic ring, just a slip stitch to begin.
Use it all the time.
I think that’s what a magic ring is.
@@theresahartman7465 No - the magic loop or ring is actually different - but it doesn't matter in the end, just do whatever works for you and you enjoy doing. Not a magic ring but who cares 🤷🏻♀️
It’s a magic ring to people like me and Theresa because it is so easy, seems like magic!🥰
OMG this MR method is LIFE CHANGING!!! Thank you so much!
Changed my life too!!
OMG...I usually put one of these scrap yarn projects off because of the joining squares process. This is a complete game changer. Love it!
I love this way of connecting the squares!!❤. Thanks
Your instructions on the magic loop is by far the easiest I've seen and I've been crocheting for 20 years. You are magic! Thanks.
I've been crocheting over 60 yrs..but since covid I seem to have forgotten how to crochet a granny square...thk you for you and your great voice I can understand right off...rock on 😍

You are the best teacher.
This is beautiful. Thank you for the tutorial. Your hands remind me so much of my favorite nursing instructors hands. Love them!
O.M.G. Thank you soooooo much for this tutorial! Have been searching forever for an easy to follow JAYG for beginners!
Winner winner!
Always hated granny squares because of having to sew them together at the end!
Sew together as you go! It is spectacular looking heritage quality. Think you got that right!
This is the very best crochet channel ive found
Beautiful granny square blanket. I wish I had the patience to make this but I don't. Usually when I make a granny square blanket i make bigger blocks and less blocks. I made a granny square blanket using 15 blocks using 3 colors. i have to give to you you got patience and talent.
You could easily take the same idea and make larger squares and then still use this method to join them.
This is so cute!! I’m definitely making this after my current WIP is done ❤️🧶❤️🧶
Making this for my February 2023 baby! 💕
I cannot begin to articulate how bloody fantastic your magic ring is. I have tried and failed so many times I used up hald a ball of yarn, having to keep cutting knots off the end to start again. You are extremely talented when it comes to all things crochet. Thank you 😊
That sample would be perfect as a placemat! Beautiful work, as always. Love your videos, Toni!

That blanket is so beautiful. I’ve been trying for months to make my great niece a baby blanket and each one I’ve started with I ended up not liking it. I love the granny square. I can’t wait to make this. Thank you so much for sharing this.
You are a freaking awesome instructor!!! I no longer feel inadequate about joining granny squares. Thank you so much.
The granny square was the first stitch I learned. It is one of my favorites. It’s great for stash busting.
Thank you, Toni! I first learned to crochet when I attended vocational bible study in South Georgia when I was in middle school ( I believe), and I stopped crocheting for years (over 20 years).
