So these videos are just partial (incomplete) representation of the procedure. They basically are there to draw you in or interest you to buy the simulation class/activity. If your a current student for DA and willing to spend $ a bit more to hone your skills and be more confident because u haven’t got the full potential to practice chair side during your placement, or for someone who would want that experience: this is an excellent possibility to look into the simulation (this was not presented to me as a student and I wish that might have been included within the program, during which you could have potentially grouped with a partner and done it together and “smart budgeted”). However, for me looking to just refresh my mind as a DA this was not ideal. No harm though, if your just starting a program as a DA definitely consider 🤗
@@dustmust17 that’s one of the downfall of dental assisting… there’s lots of learning, testing, all these new terminology flying around but zero chairside experience or simulation of what assisting dentists might look like. Going into my placement I felt unprepared, and dentist expectations are sky high. They need to update the program and completely redesign the teaching method, where assistants get to do so chairside simulations on specific procedure like: resto, endo, crown & bridge, oral surgery, etc. That will give you general idea and prepare you. It sucks that the programs are not designed well for assistance, end of the program it feels like jumping into water and not knowing how to swim.
Hi there. So sorry you were disappointed! The video description does say "This video is only a tiny sneak peek into our Dental Assisting - Assist with Composite Restoration module." We provide very rich simulation-based modules, which include not only a full video of the procedure but also simulations, text, anatomy and quiz. This 3 minute video clip is just a teaser, so people know a little about what our company does. (You can check out a sample module with our 7-day free trial at simtics.com.)
As a dental assistant student, it is OUR jobs to study the procedures. RUclips videos are NOT our best friends. Procedures are based upon the dentist’s preference.
@@glowingxlights9652 Hi! I'm in the same position you were 3 months ago. I just started assisting. I assume you've done a bunch of composite procedures since then and I wanted to know if you have a hang of things now
Hi LaShanda. I'm not sure where the video said to click somewhere? I can't see that - but if you see this reply, let us know where you saw that message so we can fix it if there's an error. Please note that, as the video description says, this is only an excerpt from our full video. Our business is building simulation-based modules for learning procedures like this one. Each of our modules covers one procedure and contains a full video which covers the entire procedure, explanatory text with links and images, anatomy images and model, simulations with 2-4 scenarios, and a quiz. We sell subscriptions to our full Dental Assisting suite of modules at the SIMTICS website, www.simtics.com
Hello, I worked in Brazil for 8 years as a dental assistant. I married an American and live in the US. I would like to know how I should proceed to enroll in a specific course to work in the same area in the US. Thank you!
Here in Canada, you need to do college if you intend to work as a Dental Assistant. I believe in the US the rule is the same. Is important to search for regulated college.
Hi there, thanks for your interest! These new modules are being rolled out over the next few weeks as they are completed and testing is done. So not long to wait.
@@glowingxlights9652 Hi, it's great that you are so eager to see them! The modules themselves should be out by Christmas, and the information will be updated on our website Library page. However please note that posting video clips on RUclips may not happen until next year. We only use this RUclips channel for marketing purposes, so the clips are just short, 3-minute excerpts of the full videos that are part of our eLearning modules.
Hi there! We have two separate modules which cover Disinfection & Sterilization in the dental operatory, which is extremely important for every dental assistant to become expert in, to avoid pathogens being transmitted through bodily fluids like blood and saliva. Those two modules explain the typical cleaning requirements for all the equipment and instruments, and the routines required at the beginning and end of the day, as well as in between each patient.
U can do IPAC, if that’s not the most detailed version for sterilization I don’t know what is 🙂 Everything u need to know “mostly”, again somethings u will learn as you go there’s no way around it, it’s very detailed and if you like to tear yourself there are question. However you do that for a class so wait to do that or ask your teacher if you will be doing it (they will tell you to wait and you should, because u get certificate of completion for each module). Some offices ask for it as well (mine does) and you have to renew it every year but it’s really the same stuff.

Um... the dentist doesn’t numb the patient first?!?! That’s gotta hurt. It’s actually the first step in a Composite filling. Well, wiping the gums is the first step, because it insures that the local anesthetic after giving a topical. You don’t just willy nilly start drilling on the tooth. 😳😂😄
Hi there, we have a separate module on how to assist with the anesthetic step. This one is just a sneak peek into our module on assisting with a composite restoration, not the full video. Please also note that this is a module designed for Dental Assistants, to help them learn how to assist the dentist with the procedure, not how to complete the procedure themselves.
@@SIMTICS Assistants can't use this module to learn the steps if you don't put it all in your video. Along with not numbing the patient, you also don't show removing the decay or the rest of the steps of composites. In order for assistants to use the video for learning ALL steps should be included.

Good vid for knowledge
No numbing? No bonding? No actual placement of composite? I’m about to practice in class and thought this would help. It didn’t.
