  • Dental Assisting - Assist with Minor Oral Surgery (excerpt)
    We are excited to bring to you our brand new suite of Dental Assisting education modules with web-based skills simulations. A first for dental education!
    This video is a tiny sneak peek into our Dental Assisting - Assist with Minor Oral Surgery module. Each module doesn't only have a video, but also contains a simulation where you can learn and practice the procedure interactively, step by step, then test your skills. On top of that you'll get an illustrated text description of the skill or procedure to read, a 3D model of relevant anatomy or equipment to explore, and a multi-choice quiz. All activity and scores are tracked in the logbook, so you can see your progress over time.
    You can find more information about all our DA modules here: www.simtics.co...

    This is a good video, but from all my 9 yrs of experience assisting oral surgery, I can tell you that its not always in the same order.

    Not always like this. Sometimes we're standing and it depends if your dentist even likes to do four handed dentistry.

    Why is dental assistant not masked & wearing safety glasses? I'm a graduate of dental assisting school & this is a no go!!!

      Thanks for the feedback. The DA is wearing safety glasses, however you are right about the mask. Well spotted. It was an oversight during filming of this simulated procedure!

    In my office, patients undergoing oral surgery have their heart rhythm, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, end-tidal gasses, and body temperature continuously monitored during the procedure.

      @@macktaylor4389 All patients having oral surgery are either given nitrous oxide gas, sedation through a Peripheral IV catheter, or a combination of both.

    How do patients breath while asleep

    • @SIMTICS
      @SIMTICS  2 года назад +1

      Hi there. Everyone breathes while they sleep, but I presume you mean while under general or light anesthetic? In that case, the patient may be given supplemental oxygen through a nasal breathing apparatus and the patient’s vital signs would be monitored closely. Please note that our dental assisting modules are designed for trainee dental assistants, so they don't cover the administration of anesthetic, which a dental assistant is not usually allowed to do without additional training and certification.

      Hi, well spotted! In a real situation the DA would definitely need to wear a mask to protect both herself and the patient.

    As per this video, Dental Assistant is the one who decide which instrument to use and at what time Dentist should use it.

      It's a training video. I know it's hard to see with eyes but the patient also isn't bleeding at all. Terrible surgeon if you ask me, he only pretended to extract the tooth. That's gotta be a malpractice lawsuit somewhere
