I never comment on videos, but something about your content makes me feel like a child could work on a miata and do just fine with the video as a reference. Great job Greg and thank you!
Tyler rodriguez miatas are the ak-47 of the gun world. Even a child could shoot it
Can confirm. Am man-child
I feel exactly the opposite watching these videos. I see all this work to be done and I just get overwhelmed and feel like I don't even want to deal with it. 😂✌️
@@xucaenfr. How In the world would I be able to reset the timing 😂
"try not to spin this because it is going to go back on the same orientation it came off" god that will be so tempting to spin it
it's time to play... "wheel of fortune!"... as in, I'll spend a fortune fixing my motor after i break things from screwing with the cam sensor... lol
haha lol
i spun mine, not as hard to realign as he makes it out to be, but would still refrain
It's not required, it just makes install easier later because you don't have to figure it out. Not a big deal at all
Tbh... I love the sound of the birds chirping in the background and the natural display of sound instead of ear raping music. Your channel has a chill vibe awesome you can bring us great content
those shots between 8:10-8:45 where you were slowly and quietly undoing stuff was strangely soothing
you : this car is gonna be 100% road driven
also you : i'm gonna take it to a drift event
hahaha good video
What a great day. Carpassion channel and Gingium uploaded a video on Miata 😀
Sooooooo glad this vid finally dropped, thank you for the excellent content, the most informative channel on this site by far!
this is only video i asked for the day i found your channel forever ago.
FINALLY
excellent video! you have taking extra time on the important details and skimmed through the unimportant details really concentrating on the most important things. Love it!
can't wait for the drift videos!!
A few tips I've found on my car.
1. Loosen the bolts on the PPF on the transmission. Then raise the back of the transmission up to gain additional clearance to work at the back of the head.
2. You can drill new holes in the radiator to move it forward. On my CX Racing radiator I was able to move it almost 0.5 inch forward. I just put some foam between the radiator and the upper core support to prevent rubbing.
3. Be wary of wiring the fans together and running them through a single relay. That's a lot of amperage for a single relay.
Thanks a lot Greg, I think the coolant reroute will get done on my Miata over the winter before it hits boost for the first time in the spring!
Yeeeah finally! Such a great video Greg, you explain everything so well and with so much detail.. Love it! Thanks for making this video!
Do a face reveal
Owen McKee are you serious?
Yes.
I get the joke
Greg your videos are clutch, and easy to follow! I just got done with depowering my steering rack. now on to the next one!
#brokeandnotboosted
Excellent tutorial video, no stupid BS, no clowning around, direct and to the point. Good job, thank you!
Great Video Greg! Even though I don't plan on pushing my Miata to the extreme or turboing it, I still want to upgrade the cooling system because I have heard that Miatas sometimes have the tendency to overheat.
That M-Tuned piece for the back of the head is really nice, I'm going to be using a block and stock 1.6 thermostat housing cover on top...not as nice but it was cheeeeeppp!
Holy shit what a coincidence! I was looking to buy some coolant and saw a page explaining how to cheaply do a coolant reroute, and then you upload this 10 mins later hahah!
Another great tutorial. Love how stumbling in someone else's footsteps becomes obsolete when some guy decides to film the path for you. I guess that makes you a cartographer of boost.
thanks for this well made tutorial. I have been waiting for you to do this. very helpful
Thank you for finally doing a reroute!
As always man, your videos are informative and fun to watch :D
This RUclipsr from the Netherlands is probably the best when it comes to all things related to Miata.
great work. love to see all the progress.
Dude this channel is so f’ing incredible.
Yay, finally! Thanks for doing this!
Awesome video. Lots of quality information. Thank you.
great video. Another good reason to use that insulating strip around the fan shroud is to reduce vibration noise. ever since putting the stiffer motor mounts in my Miata, the fan shroud has made an awful racket against the radiator. $8 worth of foam weatherstrip tape solved that in about 15 minutes.
Good tutorial. Clean and decisive presentation.
Very nice lesson. The cab of the car will run cooler as well. (firewall will run much cooler.) Greg you really have a gift for teaching. Thank you Bro.
And by the way i love the new ending of the videos!
you're videos are awesome man. thanks a lot 👍
i have the same radiator the stock fans definately fit. well worth the upgrade!
thanks a ton man !! gotta do this on my 1.8 here soon to get ready for boost
Liking the new video annotation text style, looks much cleaner.
YES~! It's finally here!!!
Great video. You make it look easy!
Great video. Can confirm with the Begi spacer,Kia thermostat housing and a upper radiator hose from a 5.3 Tahoe I think. For a cheap setup the car takes forever to warm up compared to stock and i never see 200F in tunerstudio.
Nice, the editing is really good
Great content man. I cant tell you how hard it is to find someone who puts as much quality into their work like you do.
+Fuentes03 I'm really glad the work shows. Sometimes after 3 days of filming and 6+ hours of editing I wonder if a 13 minute video is worth the effort; but I'm pretty happy with the outcome on this one.
i think it will be in the long run as long as you keep up the momentum. Even though youre going through familiar territory with the Miata (alot of channels started by doing Miatas), there's so much substance your videos have that others dont.
Sweet vid as always bro!
Good video, very well explained I think i will do the conversions on my MX
Another awesome job thank you 😊
You are the reason I'm saving up for a 1992 Miata 😃
Tito El Bandito follow your dreams!
I wanted this so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Craig
Cool to see you rocking Gingiums shirt, I enjoy his material also. Glad that you covered the cooling reroute finally, just for the simple fact that a lot of people don't realize how weak the OE system is. Even a fully trimmed stock miata with the AC running on a hot day with a non observant driver can end up with a blown head gasket. Like you mentioned there are a range of re-route kits out there as well as radiator and fan combos. Just do research and find what is the best option for your budget and application. Great video quality, STREAM Lights are the shiz, Loved that you took the time to get good clear shots of all the hardware and parts. Looking forward to more content.
+Yuuyia Takahashi Yeah just that top link on my site pretty much tells people exactly what to upgrade on their car and how to keep it cool, there's way more involved than 'throw in a huge radiator' haha. The built motor car will definitely be getting some serious attention when it comes to cooling.
Wow I just now noticed your shirt lol, love Molly... beautiful blue Miata.
I'm at the point of trying to get by big hands in the back to clean off the last 20% of the gasket to finish the FM coolant reroute kit and I've been diving into old videos......I don't know how I didn't notice the shirt...lmao
another good video and i agree LS1 ignition conversion would be good
thankz for your time and lectures
Awesome videos. Love them 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
great videos. he makes it look so easy..
Great video! Helps alot.
Dope video!
Thanks Greg! No worries on the wait. The timing on this video couldn't have been better for me. Keep up the great work!
Very well done video as usual! Getting those shots behind the motor has got to be a PITA. This channel is a work of art
Hahaha. That coolant sensor upplug = my masterpiece of the week
+1. I'm proud of myself when I get a good still shot. Doing video behind the engine? No sir, I'll pass. hahaha
Hahaha. There's a reason you don't see 10 channels doing detailed Miata tech videos, more work than a lot of people think, lol. I linked your DIY reroute on my site btw, killer work as always.
great vid! like always
Greg, . . You're awesome !
Greg, you did an excellent job of explaining how to do this job. Now try that on a Ford 4.6 liter 4-valve engine. You got to pull the heads.
Really awesome Video Greg! Will try this on my 1994 1.8L soon :)
I'll take it onto the Nürburgring Norschleife a Lot next year and the cooling needs to be on spot! :)
Mit Turbo?
So helpful man, will follow when i do mine (Y)
GET WELL SOON GREG!!!!!!!
I'm probably going to own a reliable daily driver along with a project car.
This should allow me to not worry about getting my project car ready in time for work.
I have very low expectations for myself when it comes to projects, but I always struggle more than expected.
I felt confident in trying this out until I heard the term "reset ignition timing."
Then I just nope'd the fuck outta that idea.
Yes!
you can also wire your air con button to switch on the fans for those on demand emergency cooling moments
Aye that shirt though!
Hopefully I'll be posting miata vids soon too. I have 180k miles and my cam tower snapped. ;(
done it with this video thank you
Now that's cool
you're da real MVP
you and Tyler fialko deserve more subs
YES, YES
There's some cars (I think it's jeeps) that come stock that use the "ricer style" fan mounting
awesome ... you are truley a scource of inspiration information and inflamation (and bloody knuckles).
How is that Radiator holding up, any complaints, issues, or things we should know about before giving CXRacing our money? Once again thank you for the time you take to education the masses!!!!!!
This is cool
loved it
You inspired me to buy a miata
yes ! radiator with shroud = smart +efficiency
if only the shroud is larger to cover to the edge of the radiator fins, the top and bottom tower is ok
subscribed boiii!
love the gingium t-shirt
FINALLY!!!!!
Thanks
dude such a good video the coolant reroute is hella expensive i dont even got money for a splash guard lmaoo but i neeeed one
There are ways to DIY a reroute for much less than the M-Tuned one; and there are definitely some write-ups on how to build a budget undertray with Home Depot supplies!
Awesome
I'm at 3:57 and am like NO SHIT!? (Then I thought about it and was like NO SHIT!!) Cause I was gunna take mine off cause it's got this funky down-turn at the back mounting area. Dude! Thank you!
you won't need a timing light if you scribe the position of the CAS
Just a note, if you don't have a timing light, you can simply mark the position of the CAS with a sharpie or pencil and it should be exactly back to where it was before. ;)
It is important to remember how the key is aligned, but it's not the end of the world since it was designed to only fit in one way. I forgot and it took me a good 30 minutes to slide the CAS back on, but it did eventually go on and ran like a charm.
quality vid.
How come you didn't weld the pinion shaft. Jw there wasn't any play in mine. Still put 4 tac welds on to be safe. This video made it easy. Thanks Greg!
ive seen this video like 10 times but its always a good watch when im pooping.
Iiterally pooping as i'm watching this
siiiiick!
Looking at this reroute, and walking over to my car and see what the previous owner did. Holy crap.
Mine legit has copper pipes running to the back of the engine, instead of these actual radiator hoses.
Yessssss !!!!
thank you from México, can you make a ls1 or ls2 coil conversion video ?
Ricardo Ugalde yesssss
Ricardo Ugalde es de California
Yes!
Been wanting this myself for a while, please Greg!
Love the video, but I was stunned that you just yanked the spark plug wires without indicating how critical it is to identify each wire for proper replacement.
Habit... I just know where they go. You'll know if you get it wrong trust me 😂
Why add those extra points of failure/leaks with all the extra clamps n hoses? We split our (exact same kit) in 2 and also moved the thermostat a little forward.... And that shroud really works... We also grabbed the SPAL (?) fans, and an over-ride switch so I can run them at will....
Hey if you ever get a chance will you do a video on a miata wire tuck????
To help with cooling you should also add a BUNCH of ducting
Literally any air that's coming in should either be ducted to the rad or the intake
But you can also add some hood venting to help with the release of that hot air
Cooling is ALL about getting the air into and through the radiator and back out as efficient as possible
