Elephant Gym is an instrumental math/post rock trio with heavy jazz and classical influences. They write technical, agile tunes with irregular rhythms and off kilter song constructions. The trio has received countless awards in Taiwan including nominations at the Golden Indie Music Awards for best album, best rock single, and best jazz single.
Recorded on March 18, 2019 in Chicago, IL.

I literally just got new Audio-technica headphones in the mail and turned this on to be the first song I listened to with them. Then I was like "Oh wow! They have the same headphones!" Then she threw them on the ground and I was like oh my dollars@_@

Exquisite. That drummer is a master. The guitarist is sublime, and the bassist is simply incredible. Together....? They are awesome. 👍
it's incredible watching the growth compared to the video from 2014 or so when they first wrote it. and that video was what made me fall in love with this band

I second tricot! Also look up Uchu Conbini, Delta sleep, Bearcubbin'! and Totorro. Not all exactly like this, but can fit in the Math Rock genre and are just all around great, all with top drummers too :)

I have trouble tapping on my electric guitar. It's incredible to be able to do it that cleanly on those heavy bass strings!
She's using a string dampener, you should try one, it really helps you getting a cleaner tone on heavy tapping stuff
This may because I specialise in bass, but I find tapping on bass way easier. It's a way bigger target to hit, and though they have a large gauge, there's a little less tension in bass strings than guitar strings.

@@prabuasshidiq3525 he actually plays mostly with two fingers. there is an interview (in mandarin) where he says his ring finger has developed the yips, so he learned to play without it and the pinkie. He still uses them, but for chord shapes. Otherwise, just the two fingers. He demonstrates it in the interview. Very interesting

@@pharlap12 She's a studio musician who's said to have done 1000s of recording. She's worked with legends like Phil Spector and Brian Wilson and is considered one of the most prolific bass players of all time. Most notably she played the bass on "These Boots Are Made For Walking" and the album "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys, as well as many others.
Also Tina Weymouth from the Talking Heads is a better bassist IMO. Maybe not so much technically, but those lines are killer none the less; if you're a Talking Heads fan you know how important that bass is. Influence wise you could stretch and say Kim Gordon and Kim Deal from Sonic Youth and Pixies/Breeders respectively were "better".
There's also Tal Wilkenfeld.
I find it interesting that so many more female bass players compared to drums and guitar
