The drummer has to be mentioned. He's incredible setting the complex rhythm all the way through. The backbone of the band. Each of them excellent in their respective expertise.
I read on spotify that bassist and guitarist are both classically trained by their mother. I assume she isn't a guitarist because their technique is pretty wonky and unconventional, but their rhythms and note choice are always on point.
Don't bother. After listening to her, I quit bass too. Then she had to go and do a solo with a triangle. So I quit that. Now I'm down to a kazoo. If she starts playing that, I'm going to fall back to this old referee whistle I found. One note's better than none, I guess...
Carlitox b Don’t give up. It’s like Nope, Nope, Nope, Then one day, AHA. Play each and every day. Record every practice. Listen and reflect. Even after one month, you’ll see a difference. Without new people trying to do the impossible, music will die.
Hello from Dhaka. It's raining outside now. I've wrapped myself with a blanket for some warmth. And hearing ElephantGym after more than 1.5 year is giving me some real inner peace.
The Fender P Bass. Still the best sounding all-around bass ever. Especially when it's played by talented people like this young lady. Fine little unit right here. Much joy.
Holy shit! Just found this band. As a bass player I'm truly impressed with her playing. Next time I hear a grown ass man complain about p-bass necks being to fat I'll play them this.
Found this band via the suggestion provided by RUclips. After which I have been busy browsing RUclips for their songs. And I love every one of them. Elephant Gym is awesome without a doubt.
Really? I have just said the same thing without reading your comment. Should they come to Mendoza soon? Pleaseee haha quien sos ? Que energía nos unió por acá! Soy Fernando de Godoy cruz vos?
I’m glad I found this in this leg of the journey of my life. It’s super powerful and glad musicians create beautiful pieces of art like this. Thank you and much love to anyone that reads this!
I'm finding nowadays that live recordings many bands are posting are as good or better than studio recordings, especially when you get some crowd interaction. And any more the sound quality from a live recording is every bit as good as the studio outing.
I love when the drummer calls out, at about 2:40. There is so much to like about this performance and this music. But I'll choose to comment on this that strikes me, and seems so obvious now in the saying. A lot of the music I've listened to over the years has a very small proportion of female audience. You know, prog, of course, and guitar music like holdsworth and wayne krantz. I was just at one of Wayne's shows, almost all men in the audience, a few female companions "dragged along". Look at this crowd - a lovely diverse crowd of folks just digging it, even when it gets intense, young women out there grooving to it. I mean obviously, here's a female front musician, great player, so there's the identification aspect, even to the point of, I (female audience member) hear the music I recognize as my inner voice. Anyway it makes me happy that this is happening. Remember when Sly Stone brought a diverse band together, and everybody dug it (and if you don't check it out someday)
These folks are amazing! That bassist is so fucking virtuosic and expressive, and so EFFORTLESS! Love this sound, so breezy and chill yet so energizing! LOVE IT!
I always end up coming back to this vid. Their sincerity as musicians, aside from their uniquely amazing sound, really shows and I love it so much. I want to be like them 😁
Sometimes, RUclips recommendations get things right. Just recently found this gem. The music is tight, and i love women who play instruments, especially bass. Love from India.
Taiwan sangar nih. Sweet discovery after Rollercoaster Sunset. Btw, 'Quilt' one of the easy-complicated math pop song. Badass! Greetings from Indonesia!
"Midway" almost, in an alternate universe, reminds me of Yes if Howe, Bruford, and Squire had a trio - spikey, jazzy, Howe chords with a bass line Squire would have loved. That drumming sounds like a young Billy Bruford crossed with Stewart Copland with ADD. So very awesome...
@@pendragon5187 I waited 16 years to see Do As Infinity live, this is because the band is not as famous as they were in the early 2000. Toe and Elephant Gym are very skilled and I hope to see them live someday.

Sweet! These are great! Thanks so much!! I can't afford any of the international acts that come here and the bands I like rarely make an appearance here anyway, so have to shift my interests more locally if I want to see live music again.
It's so sad that I live in Mexico where no ones cherish this music. I got no one to share the passion this is able to transmit. People always question me why I like these genres if they can't be danced, and they are right, because they are not meant to be danced. They are meant to be FELT.
i simply disagree that this cannot be danced to. where there's music, there's dance. isn't that what dance is about? using movement to express what you feel when listening to music? sure it isn't tailored for dance, but that never stopped anyone from being creative and finding ways to dance anyways. if you listen to something and stop yourself from even trying to dance to it, then you are limiting yourself to the wonderful nuances and infinite possibilities of dance.

Asia is producing some of the best music these days. And the bassist is very innovative with her style.
Actually she reminds me Primus and RHCP but it's great comparison bc Claypool and Flea are one of greatest bassist of all time

She plays with incredible grace. I have all the albums. . I have Crack of down signed by the whole band.
Bassist is playing such complicated stuff like it's no big deal
I read on spotify that bassist and guitarist are both classically trained by their mother. I assume she isn't a guitarist because their technique is pretty wonky and unconventional, but their rhythms and note choice are always on point.
That explains it then. They learned to play together and can just jam in harmony. @@karwashblark7499
Nah I hate the way shes playing bass here. The melody and rhythm is bland and clunky. The guitarist is super on though
