I've been following this band for a while and even though I don't usually like math rock or jazz all that much, they bring a specific sound and energy that I love so much. Great band!
Just left their gig in Lisbon. OMG I am completely enamored with Elephant Gym. KT is easily one of the most revolutionary bassists composing today, she has in fact inspired me to learn the bass and I hope that one day I will be able to play with a sensitivity akin to hers. Of course her talent is heightened by that of her band mates. Tell has such nuanced understanding of melody and harmonization and Tu could keep perfect swinged time while the world crumbled around him. I am in awe and feel so privileged for having met them.
There was this prog band in the 70's called National Health. They were awesome and even had a flute player as well. This band reminds of them in the way they put the songs together, similar song structure. National Heatlh also had an english folk music element and this band is more jazzy. All this to say I am loving Elephant Gym. Wish I'd heard of them earlier. what a joy

There is almost a feeling of spontaneity to their music.... but of course at such high level of composition it certainly is planned, I think... therefore... boy howdy I love the gal playing bass, she gets that thing snarling and growling at times, and again, tender and melodic....they're Great!
I've liked a few of their songs on Spotify but never really had a deep dive into their music. Clicked on this and holy cow, what a fun band! The guitar is so deliberate and tasteful, the bass is really nimble and solid and the drumming is so fun and dynamic. Really proud to be part of that worldwide audience that the drummer mentioned 🙂
such refreshingly original compositions, and a unique energy... I actually forgot about this band for a number of years. Happy to have a reminder. Time to catch up on all their releases.

Have not heard of this band before, but this is incredible musicianship and talent, the composition style reminds me of Zappa or early Vai in some parts.

this is near to pure perfection, they have music complex style combined with good melody and equilibrant feelings.
