peaks to the feeling of loneliness and disconnection one can feel from being surrounded by people who do not truly understand you. The lyrics suggest that the speaker is facing a lot of internal conflicts, yet already knows that the start is the end, potentially suggesting that despite the internal struggle, there is nothing that can be done to change the current situation. The speaker is not able to properly communicate with those around them, leading to feelings of unease and anxiety. The instrumentals used in the song further emphasise the sense of disconnection, with a melancholic melody suggestive of the overall feeling of helplessness. The song thus speaks to a feeling of alienation due to being unable to effectively communicate and express oneself, and ultimately coming to terms with the fact that goodbye might be the only solution.
i feel like this sense of alienation is transmitted even better in the ep version of the song, or rather clearer, with the mixed voices that seem to be overwhelming the instruments and what i believe to be the explosion that results from being saturated at the end with the drumming and all of instruments, the drumming throughout the song being just streams of thought and the instruments accompanying them the outside world.
This was the first song I heard from toe, and was blown away. I made myself a goal to see them live - 7 years later they came to my home city (Dublin) and I was up the front, could reach out and touch them. When they played Goodbye, it was probably one of the most mindblowing things I''d even seen and heard. What an amazing experience.
I saw them live last month and I felt the same. When they played Goodbye, it was so surreal. I had my eyes closed nearly the whole time and was just feeling it.
This song actually helped me through depression and grief. Losing a parent was rough but the passion they have in the song is like the passion you use to pass through the pain of tragedy. The last part is the "letting go" of grief finally. And that final rock-out was my goodbye to my parent. This song man, it's my personal theme song.
Jesus christ, I dont think ive seen anything better than when the drummer starts hammering, and everybody starts screaming. You can see the breakdown on their faces.
At 6:40 the drummer and everyone else loses their shit and leaves their body to travel to some awesome astral plane... Asako-san sees this and is trying not to laugh. What an amazing song, pure brilliance.
I just found out about this band last week. Listened to 4 albums in a row. Holy shit, how can I go back in time and tell myself about them 20 years ago?
I don't know 'bout you, people who listen and watch this presentation, but I always cry. Every. Single. Time. Maybe is the passion in every riff and every rythm or the atmosphere or, I don't know, some kind of "magic" in the song that tears me apart. Is not like the studio version, this is something different and I cannot describe it.
Same here man. I just found out they made a video too, but I still had to come back to this performance. There is just something about it that fills my soul up.
I watch this video maybe once or twice a year and I always find myself taking away something new. This song has unintentionally become a moment of deep reflection and consistently reminds me that there is hope for the future. I have never seen a better display of passion.

This song transcends time and space. I’m not religious, but I feel deeply spiritual and just...connected to everything when I watch this. This is life, death, love, god, humanity packed into a 6 minute time span. This is the shit that keeps me alive.
No joke, I thought I was religious for a long time because of music. I was raised a Catholic and felt incredible whenever they would play the music. I was a toddler lmao so they just lied to me and told me that it was the power of god reaching through to me. I later learned that frisson is not exclusive to religious music; I also learned that there exists much better music than the one sponsored by the church so I had no real reason to stay afterwards.

This video is the single reason why I got RUclips premium because after years of it not having ads it suddenly had one in the middle of the song, which completely ruined the vibe
What do I do ? I think now I'm addicted to their music. I'm REALLY REALLY happy that they finally released a new album this year. However, when I listen to this song, I realize that oneday, I will have to say goodbye to toe as well. I really hope that I will get to see this band make music forever, but yeah, certainly, one day we have to say goodbye 😢
@@colinperkinson4745 I see where you're coming from with this, but not quite what I was hoping for. Not a bad song though. Definitely something people could enjoy.
This is one of my absolute favorite videos that exists. The transition at 7:05 always gives me goosebumps. I sure hope my neighbors like this because God knows they hear it often enough
This is one of those moments where you know everyone in that room knew something special was happening, right in front of them. One of those moments of actual magic, where everyone is humming at the same frequency. A very real, sincere, nervous energy. You pray to be a part of these, and are so very lucky if you so happen to be present
This band is one of those gems I have to thank RUclips for putting in my feed. I do not speak the language but the music is amazing and her voice is too.
One of the many stunning things about this video is that, apart from a little mishandling of Toki's mic, the sound quality is every bit as good as the studio recording.
They came to my country, and they held their concert in the freakin' museum, with square stage, up-close and personal with the audience. Took a few pills and spaced out with their music. well take asides the bad side, it was one of the best night in my life. hope you guys are well and keeps playing great music. cheers
I caught them live again last night in KL. They played Goodbye featuring a female vocalist. It was too perfect. I can still feel their music throbbing in my veins. Real geniuses!
The song is so unifier and great. For me, one of the best perfomances of a band in the world. The simple english mixing with some simple japanese lyrics and the instruments, it's a nice feeling to hear this song every time, it makes me relaxed and hopeful for a better future, this song is so complex that it's hard to define it, as says the song: "It's more complex than how I used to thought" All countries, all types of people and all type of personalities hearing this song is very beautiful.
This is the first math rock performance which made me fall in love with this genre. So intense and I can feel their passion in their performance. Felt goosebumps every time I watch or listen this performance. This is the song I would let play on my funeral.
Recently found this song's music video. Fell in love with it then found out in the comment that it's actually a decade old, so I searched for it and found this beautiful version

I feel you, Man. Bittersweet Memories. 😔
The way Toe feels their own music is so beautiful to watch
Always crack a big smile watching this performance at 6:40 like Asako does, perfect example of the joy of playing live music.
One of the greatest live performances in the history of math rock. Beautiful, emotional, interesting...
最高の演奏に 土岐さんの素晴らしい歌唱が、、とんでもなく良いライブやね🎵 柏倉さんも熱い!!!!
This video is the single reason why I got RUclips premium because after years of it not having ads it suddenly had one in the middle of the song, which completely ruined the vibe
They're still just as good live, 14 years later!!
This honestly is one of the most beautiful songs I've had the pleasure of hearing
try I Create - Your Sun is a Destroyer
@@colinperkinson4745 I see where you're coming from with this, but not quite what I was hoping for.
Not a bad song though. Definitely something people could enjoy.
@@Scege totally understand. just hoping to share what i think is great!
@@colinperkinson4745 hey man thanks for dropping the name I fucking loved it
This song feels so nostalgic, even though I only discovered toe last year
for me it's one of the best live performances of all time, absolutely amazing and just so full of passion and emotion
Discovered this yesterday and i havent stopped listening since
The studio version is in the album called for long tomorrow
Tbh not a single song it's disappointing of toe i love their music so so much
This is one of my absolute favorite videos that exists. The transition at 7:05 always gives me goosebumps. I sure hope my neighbors like this because God knows they hear it often enough
Goosebumps every single time. I'm not even sure how or why
It's been 10 years since, and i keep coming back for this masterpiece. They gave me goosebumps everytime!
Still the best song ever even in 2024
本当に美しいなこの曲が
全員のクオリティが高すぎる
This is one of those moments where you know everyone in that room knew something special was happening, right in front of them. One of those moments of actual magic, where everyone is humming at the same frequency. A very real, sincere, nervous energy. You pray to be a part of these, and are so very lucky if you so happen to be present
Try to listen “The Contortionist - Language Rediscover” Or the “The Contortionist- The source”
This band is one of those gems I have to thank RUclips for putting in my feed. I do not speak the language but the music is amazing and her voice is too.
try I Create - Your Sun is a Destroyer
Try to listen “The Contortionist - Language Rediscover” Or the “The Contortionist- The source”
One of the many stunning things about this video is that, apart from a little mishandling of Toki's mic, the sound quality is every bit as good as the studio recording.
this set brings me to tears everytime I hear it. Just imagine how good they would have felt performing it!
They came to my country, and they held their concert in the freakin' museum, with square stage, up-close and personal with the audience. Took a few pills and spaced out with their music. well take asides the bad side, it was one of the best night in my life. hope you guys are well and keeps playing great music. cheers
もはやPVでいいよねコレ
Felt like crying and love how this song amplified those feelings
I got the chills, I won’t lie.
これこそが音楽
I caught them live again last night in KL. They played Goodbye featuring a female vocalist. It was too perfect. I can still feel their music throbbing in my veins. Real geniuses!
The song is so unifier and great. For me, one of the best perfomances of a band in the world. The simple english mixing with some simple japanese lyrics and the instruments, it's a nice feeling to hear this song every time, it makes me relaxed and hopeful for a better future, this song is so complex that it's hard to define it, as says the song: "It's more complex than how I used to thought"
All countries, all types of people and all type of personalities hearing this song is very beautiful.
i don't know how many times I listened this song.great drummer Kashikura!
This is my favorite song of all time.
美しくて情熱的。心に響くメロディー。愛に溢れている。素敵な世界。
思い出す度に何度も聴いてます。本当に素敵。
I love you
Never gets old
Still solid banger in my ears
This is the first math rock performance which made me fall in love with this genre. So intense and I can feel their passion in their performance. Felt goosebumps every time I watch or listen this performance. This is the song I would let play on my funeral.
Recently found this song's music video. Fell in love with it then found out in the comment that it's actually a decade old, so I searched for it and found this beautiful version
Já havia escutado antes, mas retornei para uma análise mais profunda graças ao Quadro em Branco
I can't stop watching this
Toe is so god damn good. It’s been at least 12 years since I first watched this video and it’s only better now
Easily the best live performance Ive ever seen without even being there
Saw these years ago and still rewatching
toe its amazing
なんだこれ本当に音に飲み込まれそうになる。出会ってよかった
My good friend showed me this video in 2013. He passed away in 2020 and i still can't watch this without crying in a good way, though
I’m sorry for your loss; may he rest in peace. He passed away with a great taste in music.
i'll never get tired of playing this over and over again
