- I'm glad to present you my first drum cover!
Toe's "Goodbye" is not just ordinary song for me. I was listening Toe since childhood and was always dreamed to grow my skills enough to play my favourite songs of this band. Toe became the first Japanese group that I fell in love with and since that time Japanese style of drumming was inspiring me for many years to grow up! Thank you guys.

I think it's quite hard not to be impressed with their skills, especially when you hear the drums.
dude I saw Toe play live a few years ago... They were the best that i have ever seen.. It was a packed show in LA and the crowd was so intimate.

The complexity of this piece is not in the technical chops but in the emotional randomness of human touch you need to perform it.
Live versions of TOE actually show you the absolute gap between their drummer and the rest of the world.

It is both. I was affected by both the emotional intensity and technical proficiency of it. I can do the emotional intensity, but I can't play the drum track myself on drums.

I'm Japanese and I love TOE.
The majority of Japanese band musicians have a longing for American and British musicians, and I think there are many Japanese musicians who can't get out the groove and nuance like them easily, and are incompatible.
However, I was very moved by your love and reenactment of the songs of TOE, an artist whose music is only listened to by a few music lovers in Japan. It made me feel that Japanese music isn't abandoned yet. It made me realize that Japanese band music is in a unique position in the world.
Thank you so much for playing it. I'm sure they're happy to be treated with such respect.

Japan and its culture has a special place in my heart. Be reassured that bands like Toe, Mono, Boris and artists like Takagi Masakatsu to name just a few are recognized by European fans. I basically love everything that your country has produced: Pentax cameras, post-rock music or woodwork, you name it. Greetings from Poland.
What I love about Toe is their blend and vibe. They don't have to dish out 1000 note a second guitar solos, but sound so amazing and entertaining. I love watching their lives on youtube. Like in the Fuji Rock festival. Wish they come to Australia soon.

I think you've become something of a role model for my five year old daughter who now asks me to play "miss Diana" every morning before we're off to kindergarten. She also tries to mimic your movements which fills me with both joy and dread.

I've always knew how Takashi-san's drumming has been an important aspect of Toe's music... it feels as if the dynamic variants of the drumming is singing (or perhaps rapping), and part of the lyrics.. Not just the drumming. If we listen closely, we can feel as if the guitar tunes are singing different melodies as well...
Looking at you play for the 8th time now, I can truly see how magical this is. How the drumming part of this song is the actual singing. It is so harmoniously in tuned with the other instruments although it changes beats and rhythm.

I started taking drum lessons about 12 years ago, and at my first recital, everyone performed in order of their skill more or less. I was one of the first since I was just a beginner, but the final performer was leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else, and I remember the shimmer and how he made the hi hat speak playing this exact song. Thank you so much for bringing it back into my life! :)

Drummers are so hard to find and you can let them play at home [because they are too LoOOOUD :)], its always a big help.

Ah midwest emo, The 4-6-5's and changes to BPM for drummers has always been a fascination of mine. The way to time the changes in beat while the guitar and nearly everything else stays the same- but finding your way back to the original BPM is part of the Fascination that comes with any sort of emo rock/punk/metal. Give her a break! Kashikura Takashi have played that tracks thousands of time so he doesn’t need to think when he plays - he can let his emotions speak. When you do a cover, and specially when it’s technically challenging, your main focus is not to screw it up cause you want to pay an honest tribute to the original. I don’t know many drummers able to play that track like she did - she hasn’t missed a single beat!🙌👏
