I remember when this had just a couple hundred views. I KNEW it was going to blow up, and I'm glad more people know of this gem. Music must be shared. I keep coming back here from time to time. ♥️ This song helped me win an Indo-Japanese singing competition too, so it has good memories for me ♥️
People who type "crying right now" or "this made me cry" are the equivalent to the people who type "lol" we all know they aren't really "laughing out loud" same as we know you aren't crying 😂😂😂
This is sensational. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. You captured the soul of nujabes in such a unique way. I'll definitely be showing this to my students tomorrow to spread the word of great music from great performers.
i/m a long time female black anime fan. love this so much. black men playing one of the best songs i ever heard! i'm 28 now and still love this song after 15 years...i love us...i have no words. amazing!!!
Excellent jazz rendition of Shiki No Uta. I'm sure if Seba Jun (Nujabes) heard this he would have been so flattered and moved that he would have cried (Japanese tend to be that way). Since he loved jazz so much, and this was such a well performed piece, I'm sure it would have happened. Excellent work here, you guys will go far with the right connections!
Pretty sure anyone would cry if their songs were being covered by people like ***** . Not just the Japanese. I love this cover, it came out pretty nice.
Inked Cat I see what you mean, and I agree. However, I'll just elaborate a bit more on my observation of Japan and their reactions to things like this. Out of all of the countries that I have seen composer's reactions to music being played or covered, Japan seems to be the most empathetic to this kind of thing. Mainly because of their reserved and self deprecating attitude they are taught to have in their culture. Having a stranger cover a song of theirs (and composer would think that the cover is better than the original) completely goes against their cultural teachings. They honor things like this very much, because it truly shows how much the peoples who covered the piece cared for the composer's creation (which is like a baby to the composer). It all depends on how much blood, sweat, and tears they put into each piece of music that causes the reaction. I know for a fact Nujabes put a lot of mental effort into his music. Therefore, enhancing his (would be) reaction to a cover. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm correcting you, but I'm just explaining the nature of general Japanese culture compared to the rest of the world (Except one problem in my logic, I don't actually compare it to other places in the world. LOL).
A.R.C.H.E.R. You're right. I have seen that looking into Korea as well (I just know more about Japan, which was the reason why I chose it, due to my lack of knowledge in other Asian countries). Thank you for the positive comment.
I spent like 4 hours going around looking for the best version of this song but this is it. This is the best version there is like no contest. The three are great performers.

Victor Heinemann SAMEE 😂😂😂
People who type "crying right now" or "this made me cry" are the equivalent to the people who type "lol" we all know they aren't really "laughing out loud" same as we know you aren't crying 😂😂😂
Craig Davis
But he said literally
"This joke is so funny that I'm literally dying right now"

I just found this Today! Excellent work guys - camera person also! -Matt The Chef (prod)
Matty The Chef DC Me too! Truly awesome... I'm ready for the remix ;) They played great & even the drums complimented the music really well.
1blisslife I'm with you. Guys, y'all gotta give the people what they 😉.
Glad I also found it today!
I guess listening to Jazz Anime music from *Cowboy Bebop* and *Baccano* got me this as a recommended.
Still one of the greatest covers of all time. Nujabes would have been so honored and proud.
Nice job fellas. Samurai Champloo is my absolute favorite anime and you guys did the theme justice.
For real
Second to cowboy bebop, but yes beautiful tribute.
Raymond Ayala better than bebop
This is sensational. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. You captured the soul of nujabes in such a unique way.
I'll definitely be showing this to my students tomorrow to spread the word of great music from great performers.
woah cool
plot twist: you're a math teacher
I remember finding this over 5 years ago and I still love this just as much, even more, as I did when I first experienced it! So amazing
same!!
have u listened to the original?
i/m a long time female black anime fan. love this so much. black men playing one of the best songs i ever heard! i'm 28 now and still love this song after 15 years...i love us...i have no words. amazing!!!
@@slashreign Race has everything to do with it…..to me. As I said, I love watching black men excel at something cause I’m black. Stay mad.
LOL).
Julian Smith I'd expand that to other Asian countries as well (us Koreans tend to have the same idea), but yeah, this cover is wonderful!
A.R.C.H.E.R. You're right. I have seen that looking into Korea as well (I just know more about Japan, which was the reason why I chose it, due to my lack of knowledge in other Asian countries).
Thank you for the positive comment.
Julian Smith Nah, it's fine.
I started crying when i heard the trumpet...this song always hits me, very hard, and i don't know why. Great job on the cover
+Suti~Tooti For me, it's the search Fuu had for her father, and how it all ended...
honestly. something about using the trumpet for that part is so smart and also making me wanna cry
I am crying for how this piece connects the past with now.
+
i felt that, but i think in what Fuu always said and i smile, for today..
This connects me to the past like you wouldn't believe. Strong fan of the ole ways of adult swim.
it’s a fucking crazy feeling
Been in my studying playlist since high school. Still listening to this in 2025. What a timeless cover of a great song.
The only video that has made me feel calm while all these earthquakes happen in my island, Puerto Rico.
