i don't know music theory or anything behind the complex technicality that makes this song so great. so from my layperson's perspective, all i can say is this song feels so clear. i want to just close my eyes and float into the sound...everything layers on top of each other like a wedding cake...it's not simple but it gives a delicate taste...just like every instrument perfectly enters in its moment, nothing sounds wrong, yet its extraordinary, unique like i've never heard it before. so complex and it works no matter what you focus on, even if there's a melody, there's something in the background that introduces something new to the section, creating movement, tension (especially with the synth buildup, and the drum solo), and beautiful shifting colors between phrases. my favorite song ever.
"complex technicality" I think that's mostly the drummer. That's not to say everything else is boring, but the other parts and the way they're layered on each other seem more normal compared to the drums.
