Fantastic event guys! Thanks Sam for the opportunity to convince Tony to try a proper drive in the Evora. Sadly, in the end I don’t have a video of Tony ‘seeing the light', maybe I could’ve tried harder but I was conscious of not hogging the mic 😆 The hard bit is getting someone behind the wheel of an Evora, once they do it’s clearly a quality purpose-built car to enjoy UK roads. The offer still stands Tony, might bring it along to another event one day 😉 Thanks again guys, enjoy Aus 🤩
One of the nutters from America here, had a fantastic time at the show and was great to chat with you both. Well worth the trip and hope to make it out for another soon!
0:13 that's my fella! He loves your podcast and has really enjoyed going to the live shows. He was a little nervous for the meet and greet because he's a little anxious.
I was talking to Porsche engineer at Goodwood FOS there is talk of the feeling of gear changing being introduced with different styles of power Del as options too…sounds like fun
I think the delivery mileage scenario makes sense.. if you have the money to buy two, one to invest and one to drive. Think I remember a chap on Jayemm’s Chanel who had two Subaru Impreza P1’s. One that he daily’d and another one that was mint with really low mileage. If you just buy the delivery mileage car you’ll be tortured wanting to drive it but knowing you can’t
We have a 2016 f type r and I keep hearing how unreliable and thirsty they are. Our experience is completely different thought. You can hardly get this thing over 12-13l/100km and it has been faultless ever since we got it. Coming from several generations of 911 we had much more struggle with them.
I don’t think delivery mileage cars make sense for most people. Sure, there’s a place in the world for delivery mileage examples of special cars to be preserved and displayed. But for myself and, I’m sure, most people that are into cars, I’d rather buy one I can drive than one to just sit and look at.
my rule of thumb is if your being pushed towards a certain form of energy for a vehicle then don't go there, buy a diesel we was told and look where that is now, buy smart cars and pay no VED (road tax) and within a couple of years guess who was paying VED? stick to what you know is best for you, remember if they can sell brand new cars its a big chunk of tax income for the people in charge.
In 2001 I was offered a 5k RS500 Cosworth, 1 owner, mint, for £14000. I nearly bought it, however I decided against it, due not being able to enjoy it, for fear of devaluing it! The same or similar car recently made £600k!!🤮🤮 Doh!
29:35 .... er, any car loses range if you floor it? My Golf R drinks through a tank so quickly if I have fun with it. Petrol cars use more petrol, so does diesel, so do EV's? Although 170-200mi range on that i5 is a joke, especially for the price. Its not competitive at all with any of the other makers, its just under half what you could get out of a Tesla Model 3 for a 3rd the price. EDIT: Oh you guys cover it around 1:00:00, interesting chat!
They could code up an EV that delivers power like an NA engine or whatever engine they like. Then flip the switch and back to full power at all times EV mode. It would at least make it more engaging
A friend from Monaco has several exotic cars including LaF, F40, 250 SWB, in addition to modifying all of them, he also uses them as a regular car!! His LaFerrari has almost 60,000km, all the others are like that!I think cars with delivery mileage are terrible! I'm not at the level of this friend of mine, my most expensive car is a Scuderia, but since I bought it I've put more than 75,000km on it without the slightest regret!
Great podcast. ❤. Will bring back a F1 recap last few races 🏁 been able watch last few race here usa 🇺🇸. On espn. Team red bull and team ferrari is on a roll. Cant wait Australian content the ute are awesome especially some fast ones.
‘Soul’ is a real thing that you can’t fake, EVs are never going to have it. But I think the Ioniq 5 N is the EV that has done driver involvement the best so far with the simulated gears and sound that you can change on the fly. Although it’s still a big heavy crossover thing. We need to combine those sort of features with a fairly lightweight chassis with communicative steering to make the best enthusiast EVs possible
But I think using that logic then no enthusiast should be buying new cars. I recently drive pretty much all the new BMWs on track and hated all of them, the M4 and M3 have such numb steering, it's just too easy and souless to drive I don't see the appeal. Sure it's fast but it's dull, I'd much rather keep my E46 M3, after the E46 BMW went downhill. Feel similar with porsche, the old ones were so much more fun to drive despite being so much slower.
So all the Ferrari hypercars after the F40 bores you Sam? And all the others like from Lamborghini, Bugatti, Pagani, Mclaren F1 all of them have V12's..
Most of Manny Khoshbin cars he has spec’s and bought (ignore his SLR’s) have less than 500miles….. he is maybe seen as a driver of his cars, but is he really?
My uncle owned the jaguar franchise in Colorado Springs but they were only going to give him 8 cars to sell for 2024 so he gave up the jaguar franchise
Guys for the love of god stop talking so much about EV! I feel like every other podcast lately has had EV in the title. We don’t care that much - Sincerely Every petrol head watching this.
I really like Sam and when Tony keeps it to his insights into car dealing it’s fascinating but the rest of the time he’s a bore the channel would fly to new levels with a better foil for Sam to bounce off
I think electric cars have plenty of soul. I can't afford a sportscar so my Polestar 2 is a hell of a lot more exciting than whatever the equivalent ICE vehicle would be. The instant torque and low centre of gravity in electric cars is quite enjoyable in a mid-priced car.
I think Tony is so wrong with the m3 and i5 comparisons. It’s not even comparable. The i5 is most likely a company car, low bik, low running costs and luxury. The m3 is a middle aged guys car who doesn’t do millions of miles, has a family and either works from home or has a company car.
The McDonald’s Spaffing is the only EV that doesn’t put me into a coma, and I’m never ever going to get near it. The terrible name, I can’t even remember what its actual name is, doesn’t help its cause though.
None, NEVER !!!!! V10 N/a Lambo all the way baby - Long live the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica - the last, best and rarest Huracan and pinnacle of proper old school supercars. GUARANTEED FUTURE CLASSIC
Cars are to be driven and seen. They are not paintings, or bottles of vintage wine. The sooner these 'investors' sod-off and leave our hobby alone, the better. I am amazed that HMRC haven't clamped down on capital gains, ruining it for real enthusiasts for whom increasing values offset the running costs.
Well you can’t have it both ways. HMRC applying CGT would reduce the inflating influence of the investor market by putting off some buyers, certainly with mainstream stuff like Porsche GT models that don’t usually appreciate that much in the long term anyway. It’s not going to control the top-end stuff though, cos most “big players” would still accept paying 40% tax on a profit of £millions or several £hundred thousands.
For now, NO. The soul is how the engine communicates with the chassis and the sound of the exhaust. If you remove the engine, the heart is gone. Maybe in 10 years time they will develop batteries that operate closely with an ICE. Then maybe, we will get some soul back…
no, EVs lack the required ingredients that makes a car feels like something special. Yes, EVs can have huge performances and it is very easy to extract that performance from them... but, a soul?, nope.. not a chance.
What EV should we buy..... none, stop contributing to the madness that is EV. the infrastructure doesn't exist to make enough batteries never mind charge or fix those batteries. Vote with your wallets people, keep our fuel cars and synthetic fuels will come. The problem isn't the engine, it is what goes in them. Meanwhile our insurance and taxes goes up to pay for this madness.
Porsche GTS and doesn’t want to stand out? Already showing people you’ve got money and are standing out. Hmmmmmm. Buy a Fiesta if you don’t want to stand out.

there is an Instagram post of five Valkyrie owners all turned up at Broadway in the Cotswolds on a drive out which is pretty cool
What about a modern Honda NSX for the BTG car? Should be reliable and an interesting but somewhat overlooked supercar
So much better than the drivel you get from TGE and Archie making 10 min videos with as many ads as possible.
