Love the podcast but it would be great if you could put pictures up of the cars your talking about to add more context to the video. Like just a pic of the aston DBS above ypur head while your talking about it pls
Very enjoyable and funny episode. My only suggestion would be showing pictures of some of the cars you talk about especially like the Toyota as some of us don’t really know what they look like. But amazing episode and keep the good work going 👍🏼
@Two Dead Center I was about to put my Toyota Starlet Glanza V up for sale and hearing them talk about winning a prize for finding a 'not badly' modified one made me think of mine straight away. It's entirely standard apart from a Fujitsubo Legalis R exhaust system, Blitz Damper ZZ-R coilovers and some aftermarket wheels. I will include the original exhaust/suspension as well as some other spare and aftermarket parts I've collected for it in the sale. Let me know if your interested Edwin!
911 vs Clio V6 series sounds like fun. A couple of 6 cylinder, early 00's, N/A dream cars with the engine behind you that you've saved from neglect is a hell of a combo
@TDC, have you ever thought it is actually you guys on YT that are already replacing the old tv formats? YOU are the banter, the roadtrips, the anticipation for a new video
The Ninky Nonk can also transport Makka Pakka, the 10 Pontypines and the 10 Wattingers. Also Iggle Piggle has both his own carriage and a seat in Uppsy Daisy's carriage. Therefore there are seats for at least 27 by my count on the Ninky Nonk. The scale of the Ninky Nonk is another question entirely: despite it being able to carry all of the characters it is also seen in other segments to be smaller than Makka Pakka, the Tomleyboos, Iggle Piggle and Uppsy Daisy.
Actually now I come to think of it the Tomleyboo carriage has many spare seats as they often can't decide where to sit. Let's say the Ninky Nonk can take 50 seated. As for standing capacity, I'm going to say it's zero as the Ninky Nonk can also drive up trees.
You guys are absolutely right about what works as a format, and what doesn't. The only thing which makes a show unique, is the characters in it. Because you need to be naturally entertaining, which is quite tricky. That special something is what the top gear trio had, and that spark is also what you two have. You can see the long life friendship, without any layers of glamour or over the top acting. Just two car nerd besties, taking the piss out of each other like an old married couple. And that's exactly what makes it work, so never change boys!
21 years old and bought myself a cheap 1979 MGB GT 1.8. I know any cheap MG doesn't sound like a good idea but this one is structurally sound. This will be a good learning curve for me to work on cars and fully restore her to her former glory. So many classic cars have dropped in value and will rise again in the future
I did that as my first car when I was 18. Terrible idea for getting around (I did 500 miles in 18 months), but it did basically turn me into a mechanic, you will learn a lot
Back in the day, my friends bullied me into manual swapping my JZZ30 Toyota Soarer with the 1JZ.. I didn't hate the auto, but the Getrag 6 Speed I was bullied into putting in, is much, much better haha.
To be honest, autoalex and TDC is the TopGear of the new generation. Is it still the same formula and magic about some normal dudes with incredible amounts of charisma and funniness, that are screwing around with some old ordinary cars.
Got to fulfill a car dream this week as I bought my first rally car. Been a goal of mine for years now, hoping to do some rallies in Ireland next year. Would love to see ye do some more rally style content again
In line with your comments on Top Gear and the Grand Tour, I felt the same when I saw you guys starting a podcast as well, but I must admit, I love them! They're a good listen in the background, and so far good and fun topics! Keep it up guys!
Cars in movies. You should make reaction videos of that. Lot's of fun details. I once saw a Tesla cranking the engine, and revving its interal combustion engine engine. Hilarious.
Dont forget the Starlets were RWD... really awesome cars, atleast the early cars where, the later might been FWD... But the ones relatives of mine rallied was RWD... Really cool and good looking hatchbacks!
Great episode again Vulcan, Victor and Valiant were 3 RAF V Bombers in the 60s. 20:18 Corsa is Italian for Run, not Road. You are thinking of Corso as in Road or Way

That argument against lighter wheels not being noticeable; it can be a massive difference if you have heavy OEM wheels and lighter alternatives fitted to a car. The most common R53 mini wheel is 11.4kg, and the most common aftermarket Team Dynamics 1.2 is about 8kg. On a track day, I reckon that weight saving alone would shave precious seconds off each lap when compared to stock, and might even be comparable to adding bolt on performance mods. It's a bit science-y, but could be an interesting video or concept for videos where you modify cars for a challenge. Really enjoying all the content you're putting out recently!
I had Enkei RPF1's on my JZA80 Supra years ago, those wheels were incredibly light. I was always shocked when taking them off the car and not having to use too much energy to lift them up. I'm certain that it was noticeable.
You're right, being medically unfit to drive i don't buy any cars. But I live vicariously through you lot! lol Also have a friend who is a stuntman and he sometimes has to correct the filming because he knows his cars. His name online had Sileighty in it because that's his passion showing through. He's also an e-sports racer as well!
I swear I'm the same as both of you....I did the same as Edwin about the '350' Ferrari, and Will, 10% of me sometimes thinks about something else sometimes.....good to know I'm not alone, thanks lads 👍
I’m with Edwin on the wheel thing. My last car was a mk5 golf gti which I owned for about 5 months and fitted 5 different sets of wheels to it because I couldn’t make my mind up about which ones I liked best 😅 I had a vw caddy work van that I fitted a set of £1000 3sdm wheels to because I liked the wheels a lot and didn’t have a project car at the time 😂 and then because I was so worried about ruining those I fitted a set of banded steels to it which kept cracking. So I fitted some scirocco turbines and didn’t like them so I fitted some 19” Audi speedline split rims on it 😅 I’ve owned over 150 cars in the 17 years I’ve been driving and the vast majority of them have had multiple wheel changes
About 12 or 13 years ago I bought a set of 18 inch Alpinas for 700 or 800€ I think it was. The seller took them off his e31 and we fitted them onto my e38. When I sold my e38, I sold it with the original set of wheels. I traded the set of Alpinas for a e39 touring. Are you guys trying to tell me they'd be worth 5k now? 😬
@18:32 Arnage is the name of a small village, SW of Le Mans. There is a corner on the 24hr circuit named after the village. the car is named after the corner.
I bought 3 sets of wheels for my last car, and I loved the last set so much that I deliberately chose my next car based on if the wheels would fit and if they'd look good. Wheels are extremely important. For reference it was a black MX5, bronze OZ Ultraleggeras, and the replacement is an Arctic blue Clio 182.
As Clarkson said at a screening of the last episode of GT, the problem for Top Gear and possibly future Grand Tour is the obsession with signing up celebrities/names as hosts. They need to get people who just know about cars. Jeremy, James and Richard weren't celebs when they started. The brand without the talent is just a name, as a few collapsing automotive youtube channels who lost their talent (wink wink, nudge nudge) can attest. The way the BBC is now I don't think Top Gear will ever grace British TV again, the name will just be licensed for the international series'. Love TDC and love the podcast, can't wait to see what you guys get up to next. This comment was unfortunately not sponsored by Car Vertical.
I lived in a hostel a few years ago, and one of the staff had a completely stock starlet turbo. It was a old woman and i went crazy seing it and she said she always gets "young lads" going crazy over it 😂

Ya ever since I was a toddler, I've been obsessed with cars. And everytime I meet someone who isn't, it's like absolute culture shock to me. To think that someone out there just views their car as a tool and nothing more than a moving box to get them from a to b is sacrelige. This passion has kept me from doing drugs and making poor choices in life. I may not have much money in order to be able to purchase all of my dream whips but it's a nice problem to have I guess. Being a car guy isn't a choice, it's a way of life.
Question for the next podcast : e36 m3 or e34m5? Finally almost able to afford one and I still wish my broke teenage self would have been able to pick one up 5 to 8 years ago when they where still cheap! And also what is the ultimate wheel for 80's and 90's bmw's? I know Edwin is a serious fellow bmw nerd! My vote goes to Borbet Type A's. Love the podcast and channel!
In the 50s and 60s there were the V Bombers which all carried nuclear bomb, Valiant, Victor and Vulcan. Vulcans were flown non-stop down to the Falklands to bomb the runway at Port Stanley during the small disagreement with Argentina in the 80s. Top Gear actual started as a music program in the 1960s (this before Radio 1 existed, think more Old Grey Whistle test than TOTP) Presenters included the likes of John Peel, it lasted a year, the Motoring version started in 1977 with Angela Ripon, who is still presenting on the BBC
Make your own custom Clio v6. Take out the crummy Laguna V6 from the clio and put in a Jag V6 from Rocketeer. Will it work straight out of the box? maybe not. Will cause an issue? More than likely. Watchable content? Hell yes.
Good podcast, love the content. Rory bought his Aston now time ago though should try to get the episodes out sooner so they still feel relevant lads 👍👍
The Monaro is named after the Monaro Region in NSW. Home to snowy mountains and many great driving roads. So I think it's a fairly good/appropriate name for the car. Another interpretation is that the word Monaro is derived from the local aboriginal language, which is thought to mean 'plain', i.e. the snowy high plains or alternatively means a womans breast. Again... pretty great things 😅😂
I know Edwins affliction, it's truly torture in a way. My strain of Affliction is for almost anything Honda Related in terms of specs, lesser-known colours or slight quirks.
I work for a Toyota dealer and we can service two GR Yaris in a day. I would say we do maybe four or five regular Yaris a day. Considering the GR has a service interval of 6k miles not 10, that means there's fucking loads of GR Yaris about.
Going on about the price of cars lately. I was watching a really tidy mk4 golf gti anniversary Edition with the 1.8t engine on collecting cars and then noticed it sold for under £3k. Someone got a bargain
To be fair to Ground Force, a fair portion of the attraction to a certain slice of society was Charlie Dimmock and a definite lack of undergarments. Also, I watched the TV show Ashes to Ashes almost exclusively to see them hooning around an an absolutely mint red Audi Quattro driven by Gene Hunt 😊
Question from people that don’t know cars. Tools.. how did you get them all? (Obviously buy them but how they are so expensive) also what tools do you need to start working on your car?
Best time to buy a car. I had no choice but to buy a car 2 years ago during that time when they went crazy expensive. Really was bad luck with the timing.
Black wheels have always been too Tosh Lynes spec. They epitomise tatty CID cars on “The Bill” and generally look like utter crap. The only exception to the rule is the AMG wheels with the silver ring around the circumference.
I used to work for a company that supplied movie cars! The secret is that for every one producer that cares about what they get, 30 don't give a shit and will pick off color more than anything. Let me know if you have any other questions! 39:37
my stepdad was a vauxhall fanatic, had like 5 cavs (2 turbos, one sri and 2 1.4 shit boxes) and like 3 calibras, one being the 4x4 turbo. used to go the vauxhall shows when i was younger. he also had a nova where the floor was missing. good times, except he was a twat but oh well
Feels more like a market correction than a dip in the market. You could buy a GTR for £30k 10 years ago. A Gallardo was £60k at one point. Cars have been ludicrously expensive for the last 5 years.
I am in the same EXACT pin-point focused and zoned-in automotive autism (best way to put it) of into anything and everything to do with cars. The addiction is REAL, the only thing stopping me from having a yard full of cars and parts is my wallet 😓
The fact that you don't hoist the sofa up and down on the lift during the episode is frankly criminal
I was gonna say that 😂😂 how dare they 😂

Just bought 2 other cars but selling a motorcycle so Im experiencing the market from both ends 😆 Will looks like the typical focus st owner btw. ✌️
This episode was great! Subscribed on the podcaster app on Iphone❤️
Woo starlet is my favourite car on the planet, older gt turbo’s I know a beautiful one get your green gt badges at the ready
Love the pod lads, keep up the good work
Well I listened to it already but now I guess I watch as well!
I check to make sure the car models/regs are period appropriate for the year in which a film was set.
Question from people that don’t know cars.
Tools.. how did you get them all? (Obviously buy them but how they are so expensive) also what tools do you need to start working on your car?
Love you guys 😎
I bet Edwin would actually cream himself watching Paid in Full. Such a good non-car movie car movie
Best time to buy a car. I had no choice but to buy a car 2 years ago during that time when they went crazy expensive. Really was bad luck with the timing.
You should look into videos of starlets drag racing in the US.
I spent £4k on my Shelby Mustang wheels. I just convinced my self it was cheaper than the £30k carbon fiber ones off the GT350R 😬
Take the Cadillac to the 4x4 track like Top Gear America Season 1 did. Re-enact the big jump....
Put together ThrottleHouse + TDC + All The Gear and you have a BBC cross of 5th Gear & Top Gear. On the cheap!
my stepdad was a vauxhall fanatic, had like 5 cavs (2 turbos, one sri and 2 1.4 shit boxes) and like 3 calibras, one being the 4x4 turbo. used to go the vauxhall shows when i was younger. he also had a nova where the floor was missing. good times, except he was a twat but oh well
The "Vauxhall" Adam was named after Adam Opel, the founder of the company (Opel, not Vauxhall).
My bro still has his 1.2 corsa v16 it's mint
Top Gear was Gentleman acting like Hooligans. It is the same sort of thing Monty Python did. The perfect compliment of dignified and silly.
Feels more like a market correction than a dip in the market. You could buy a GTR for £30k 10 years ago. A Gallardo was £60k at one point. Cars have been ludicrously expensive for the last 5 years.
The vulkan was a british long range bomber used for the nuclear deterant before they were scrapped they were used in the falklands war.
I am in the same EXACT pin-point focused and zoned-in automotive autism (best way to put it) of into anything and everything to do with cars. The addiction is REAL, the only thing stopping me from having a yard full of cars and parts is my wallet 😓
