I wish the AutoAlex Podcast would be more like yours. I watch yours much more than theirs by now. And I don't hate AutoAlex but I would love them to do something more like this. A bit more calm and more about cars. Idk what it is but you make the "behind the scenes" aspect a lot more interesting. It's a structured and easy listen and theirs is chaotic and stretched.

I also really like the pace and content/structure in the TDC Cream podcast. There's personal anecdote and experience but it's always related to the topic or the channel; they're also honest when something is just their personal taste but can look at things objectively too. Sometimes bits drag on but it's never unwarranted or way off topic. Podcasts normally are not my thing but I do like this quite a bit.

Some, most things (atleast car related) are designed to fail, however its the intention that matters. Design to fail before major issue that can be dangerous happens? Sure, okay. Design to fail, to then be expensive to replace and be forced to take it to a specialist garage to make money? Not okay, and that's the modern most common occurrence I feel unfortunately, but if it was the other case to lets say; save money and time for the people that might not be as mechanically and car smart it wouldn't be too bad.

If I am picking one brand, then I would want one that gives the biggest variety, both present and past. For me that would probably be Ford. Escort Cosworth to a Capri 2.8i, to a Maverick or even a Focus or Mondeo. Then there are the American market cars, like an F150 or a Mustang.

They also claimed it would run 500 miles on a jug of water. You could travel the length of the country on a watering can! lol

RS3 with the legendary 5-cylinder turbo. Relaxing executive saloon? A8 (with a W12 even, if you are adventurous). Supercar? R8 V8 or V10 (preferably one with a manual). Large luxury SUV? Q7. All-rounder with performance to enjoy? RS4 or RS6 Avant.

28:30 what I believe has happened, was that investors (who usually steer companies into pitfalls) in the early 2000s were lured by the upcoming things of electrification and self driving; company boards then mandated these new technologies to be studied. Some design teams must have went and asked for similar funds to develop halo cars that would at least turn an immediate profit, either directly or indirectly.

As an MX5 owner, I'd be happy with an EV conversion if price was sensible & it's still enjoyable to drive. Could still be done with a manual gearbox, hydraulic power steering & brakes retained so it retains majority of the driving feel. If the kit used Nissan Leaf or equivalent battery packs then they're readily available & EVs really aren't that complicated to work on compared to rebuilding an engine, just the voltage danger you need to be safe around.
S2000 is completely different to a tuned MX5 though, Especially if skidding it around like you say. S2Ks are known to be awful for skidding as weight balance isn't there, mx5s can be drifted by someone's nan 😂

This week is a little Ruin.
My 4runner just got a “rebuilt” engine installed by me. I discovered immediately that it had no oil pressure because the pump was wrecked. It will pump was wrecked because there was no oil pick up tube in the engine to supply it with oil. So once I got all that sorted out, I’ve put 600 miles on it and done two oil changes. It’s using a good amount of oil and turning the oil to black tar almost immediately. It was used in another vehicle for assault my friend five years ago and he sold it to me a few months ago(without him ever using the engine). I guess I will just try to fix any oil leaks and adjust the valves and hope for the best.

Unfortunately I think as far as cars go, it’s all down hill from here. Everything is turning into an appliance and is being strangled to death by these regulations. It seems to me like one of the only cars that has mostly escaped this are the new 911s, but even so I think in the next generation or two they’ll have been regulated into appliances as well. And that’s at $200k+ as well. There aren’t really any new cars that are achievable that are interesting in the way that like the w204\5 c63 or the v10 m5 are. To be honest I mostly only really know/care about German cars, but the newest gen saloons really don’t do anything for me and I don’t see them reversing on these decisions unless their government does the same. When i see how they massacred the new w206 c63 I can see the rest of the car industry doing similar. Add that to the digital tracking and data collection stuff, and I wouldn’t want to own a car much newer than 2020 even if they were at a reasonable price.

The Boreham Ford Escort Mk1 RS will make its public debut next summer, ahead of production starting during the third quarter of 2025. Just 150 examples will be built and each will be sold by application only, in a similar fashion to the Ford GT and the new Mustang GTD. Each will be priced from £295,000.
Before then, Boreham will also revive the Ford RS200.
Like the Escort, this will be built from the ground up as an "entirely new" creation.
Two engines will be available: a reworking of the storied
Twin Cam engine that powered the Escort to competition success, and a powerplant derived from Ford's current offerings.
The Twin Cam has been upsized from 1558cc to 1845cc and its twin Weber carburettors have been replaced by fuel injection. The changes net an extra 73bhp for 182bhp. This is sent to the rear wheels via the original four-speed gearbox, with straight-cut, close-ratio gears.
The modern alternative is a 2.1-litre four-pot with forged steel conrods and a billet crankshaft, enabling it to rev to 10,000rpm. It produces 296bhp and is mounted to a five-speed dog-leg 'box, with ratios aimed at providing usability both on the road and track.

Sorry, you've got American Miata wrong. Look at Tim's Turbo garage... project Thunderbolt? Fasterproms...I think it's an LS3. My neighbor has a 90s Ford 5.0 HO in one (it might be sunburst yellow 😢).

As far as i am aware because i work in the planes industry, Recaro does the seats for multiple planes, so the news of Recaro bankrupcy for me i really didn't get also i didn't done more research, but i think they are OK if they have contracts with Airbus and such

The forum: I’ve never quite understood when folks put bigger alloys and thinner tyres on cars. Uk roads and general comfort aside is it purely a looks thing or is there a performance benefit?

    • @Jabber-ig3iw
      @Jabber-ig3iw 6 дней назад

Up to a certain point there’s a performance advantage to more wheel less tyre, but people, and manufacturers take it too far and it becomes more about looks.
