- Dragon Quest XI came out in 2017 and is a traditional turn based RPG that is available on Xbox, PS4, PC, Switch and even the 3DS. I HIGHLY Recommend you play this as soon as possible, especially if you miss Games like the original Final Fantasy 7 Game of the PS1 Days.

I just started playing through the game for the 4th time so seeing a brand new review go up while I’m playing and thinking about the game again is awesome! DQ11 is such an incredible experience

Yeah, I'm obviously not chasing views since this came out like 7 years ago but I'm so into it and now on a mission to make sure no one else missed out like I did (just fot distracted, as is Life).
What makes you keep coming back?
@@GamingMyWholeLife It’s a great game and experience for sure!! And it’s the world, pacing of the game, characters and honestly just the nice comforting turn based combat that always has me coming back. I always try and add something new each time I play, like this time I’m doing all the side content and everything like normal but I’m also trying to fill out the entire monster list which I’ve never done before. It’s a lot of work but I enjoy it haha
Ohh very clever!! I think ad long as we can come up with some tweaks to make the reruns feel a bit different ~ its all we need to jump back in 😃
Also glad its relaxing for u, ad that plays a big part to my personal enjoyment as well. Its just nice not to be rushed
Was about to give up until I saw that battles can be set to 'Follow orders'. Makes it way more interesting
I'm the same. During my first play through, the other characters were controlling themselves and I hated it. The moment I could control everything changed everything for me 😁
Its good they have all the options though, everyone is covered this way
This was a day 1 play for me. Love seeing others getting into DQ. It’s really a special series

I always knew of it but simply never got round to playing. Now, I'm excited for future Games and I'll start playing the older Games once I eventually stop with DQ11.

i've been a HUGE dragon quest fan since i was like 5, and i just turned 21. such a brilliant game series!! dqxi is my favourite game of all time :]

Thank you! I feel your genuineness in your love for the game. I loved it also. Dragon Quest will always be top tier to me. I also liked that Koichi’s real music is in it and you can speed up the battles 4X the speed! I played it on the Switch, but before that I bought the original on PS4 Pro. DQXIS is one of the absolute best. It’s the best RPG that’s turn based out there.

The music was fantastic! The whole package is filled with value and really should be refereed to when discussing feature complete Games that respect players times and money.

If you're even the slightest fan of JRPGs I'd be shocked if you hadn't played DQ11 yet. It's only the latest entry in one of, if not the largest JRPG franchise of all time. The real gem that most people haven't experienced is DQ10. I'll never stop being mad that Square Enix has never made any attempts to release it anywhere outside of Japan, but thankfully there's an extremely well done fan translation project for anyone out there who wants to experience it.
Prepare to be shocked as there are many of us Hahaha
I plan on back tracking and always having Dragon Quest Games on my radar from now on!

Also do you get more skills, it feels like your very linear in direction, i got lightning asap to kill mobs and lvl up?

The Boat is pretty far, still plenty to do. Its the half way point I would say.
You still have several more powerful moves to unlock 🙂

Jumping from one dragon quest game to another - NICE!
I wanted to replay the game after finishing my replay of Persona 5 Royal a few days ago and i was so disappointed in the S version, because it's such a HUGE graphical downgrade. The original was so beautiful, the S version looks terribly flat and boring, so much details are missing plus the shadows which made every location look so good.
Oh I was not aware there were Graphical Differences between the versions of this Game!

@@GamingMyWholeLife The original Dragon Quest XI was developed for PC and PS4. The S version was made for the Switch and they portet this massively downgraded version to all other systems. I bought the PC version yesterday and fully modded it, there's a community project out there called "Project Rebuild", it adds back all the models (main characters, NPCs and enemies) from original DQ 11, it tries to restore the old lighting and shadows of the world and it adds all the grass and trees back into the game which were removed for the Switch version. It now looks as stunning and beautiful as i remember it, i already played a few hours 😊

@@GamingMyWholeLife It was really way advanced for the system. DQ IV was likely the most advanced game on the NES. In future versions the AI got better, but DQ IV on NES was notorious for it's weird chooses. The "Cleric" always wasting his mana on death spells, or the Soldier repeatedly trying to cast spells from items instead of attacking. You also couldn't turn it off in that game, it was active always.

Sometimes things just work and don't really need an overhaul.
I've never liked it when Developers claim they are bringing back an old series and plan on "modernising" it. That's become a bit of a red Flag for me, as unnecessary change.
Like how they made the FF7 Remake an Action Game... not needed and a missed chance

If you believe gaming is about escapism and not activism, instant sub. Love that you easily explain the mechanics to someone who may not be familiar with the genre, that is something I myself struggle to do, and I played my first rpg when I was 5 back in 1986 with you guessed it the OG Dragon Quest (or Warrior as it was called here.) the only thing I would add is that if you are playing on a PC modding does exist for things such as updating the graphics improving both party and enemy ai faster travel and much more. All in all great review of an amazing game.

Yeah, a pet peeve of mine with most reviews is people normally forget to explain "how" a Game is played. We should be able to visualise the experience for ourselves and decide if its the sort of Game we would want to play 😃
I noticed this forever ago, like 10-13 years ago I would watch a bunch of reviews on a Game I was interested in and still couldn't visualise how they were played, lol.
The escapism part is super important to me, so I've started to say that line in all of my Videos lately and will continue. Going forward. Trying to attract the right type of Subs (not that I care if a sub has different opinions to me, bit certain type of people tend to me very disagreeable in general and try to gaslight whenever I'm having a more serious conversation)
I am envious of anyone who has yet to play this masterpiece. You have access to the best version now. One of the best RPG’s of all time

Loved this game but video games (same with all art) can be about escapism or commentary. You even said FF VII was one of your favorites yet you don't understand this point.
Seems you don't understand why people like me don't like these unwanted changes.
Of course Games can cover everything and anything they want. just like FF7 did.
What I and many others are against, is inserting changes based on current social politics into pre existing Game franchises that did not before. it's never done for the improvement of Games and just Virtue Signalling.
I have nothing against brand new Games that want to cover whatever they want.
It's about respecting the source material and goes the other way as well.
If a Game was all about certain commentary, I would be annoyed if it was suddenly not in the latest version of the Game or patched out of old Games.

There are challenging moments but overall, if you are used to how these sort of Games work its not especially hard.

Yeah, I used to keep silent about that sort of thing but since the problem
didn't go away and a lot of our favourite Games are getting changed for no reason,
I've become more vocal about it to give fellow Gamers some encouragement that they are not alone. So sometimes I upload the more serious type of video but I also prefer to get excited when possible 😃
