I would like Martina to clarify this a bit as she seemed a bit nervous the whole video and I’m afraid she wasn’t sure it was going to be done on time or any good (which of course, we all knew, she knocked it out of the park) If I was her, I’d say something like “they were poor film students and friends of mine”, or “I got a cut of the revenue of the film” or even “if you do creative work, always make sure your hours are compensated, even if you’re ‘trying it out’ or are unsure if you can do it”
Great job! I work in the art department on movies and TV here in Norway and only now did realize that I get home from work only to watch you do basically the same things… I guess that speaks to the greatness of your creations and videos. And that I really like my job. I wish I got to work on that project. Looks so fun.
The amount of hours you put in it, the design, the rush order. to be honest, I know you can make a video about it and monetize but you should have been compensated for at least part of it. This is an easy 10.000 Euro and that's setting the bar low, between 160 and 200 hours, 50 Euro per hour is already 8-10 G's only in labor. Really amazing result, and you seemed less awkward vlogging while shopping.... you are making progress Martina!
Sounds like it might be a really small outfit of a movie studio, where 8-10k could be a significant portion of their budget. As someone who has worked, and whose wife still works in the film industry, prop artist get paid a lot, finding a prop artist like her who made something for a small studio is a gem. I hope they were her friends, had no money and could not promise her a cut of the profit. Otherwise there’s no excuse. Or charity. Would have loved a bit of explanation, as she is a role model to a lot of artists and is setting quite a bit of a problematic precedent.
@@lucbloom I very much agree. I already had a bad taste in my mouth when they donated the PC to LTT for free! At least then she got exposure in a video from LTT if I remember correctly. I feel worried that more and more companies will learn to avoid paying fair compensation to artists as this trend continues.
@zeus04 I don't think this is comparable to LTT since the proceeds of that project went to charity (as far as I know) so it's not like they made a free thing that was used to generate profits for LTT. Also, personally, I found out about Nerdforge through that LTT video and I'm sure that was the case for other people too, so that was definitely beneficial for both channels. I completely agree though that if this is a commercial project they should have paid, especially if they're going to scan the robot.
@@whoatemychocolateYes, I agree that is an other thing entirely. That time it just felt a bit "uneven". The video would have been better if there was some kind of exchange benefitting both parties (as LTT has done with NAS hardware etc.) The free model for the Movie is outrageous. T his is not a acceptable way to treat artists and it sets a very bad example to everyone in the industry, especially smaller studios and workshops not yet established. The fact that she seemed to shop supplies for the project and general supplies for herself (the tape) suggests that they weren't even compensated for materials. One thing that puzzles me is if there is a transfer of IP rights for the model, if not, the Movie studio could be charged with huge license fees after the fact...
According to her in the comments, they (the film makers) offered to pay but they (Nerdforge) turned them down because they wanted to make something they enjoyed and was their own design. The film makers were 100% wiling to pay but were instead given a free robot.
I'm running out of words to express my amazement with each new video 😭😭 every time I'm torn between "there's no way this can actually be done" and "it's Martina, of course it'll be done!" and I know the second one always wins but God it's just so exciting to watch you cross over that line! also I know y'all said in a comment that you refused compensation but you literally deserve a billion dollars for this holy cow!!

Incredible work, Martina and Hansi! As always, your work is so impressive and it's a joy to see you bring an idea to life. He's an adorable "little" guy!
Really like how you used all your skills and moved out of your comfort zone to build this. Note on the spackle usage: You normally have to sand down with rough grit (80-100) then a finer grit (200+) when finishing it, BUT to help with smoothing it out before hand use a little Dawn dishsoap (others do not work as well, but test and see) in the spackle mixture you apply. It does help with the amount of your favorite activity... SANDING :D Again, hats off and well done to you all and your studio.
I love the fact that Martina can see her project with just the base done. I'm the same, but I never really met someone else who can get just as giddy over just something bare, because they can see their vision working out. I sometimes try to explain my vision to people and how I can see it totally working out, but they never grasp it until its fully done.

Martina, when you were growing up and dreamed about who you were going to be and what you were going to do for work when you became an adult, did you ever even imagine that you could be living the amazing existence you have now? It's so much fun watching you plan and tackle new projects. Your use of so many different mediums and tools is most impressive as well. But I think the thing I like the best is the way your whole face lights up with excitement and inspiration at the mere possibility of beginning something new.
I really hope this ends up in a film production. I will watch it just knowing this character design is in it. Soooooo cool.
THAT NEEDS TO GO TRENDING plssss
These rounded eyes gave me feeling on Fallout's Mothman in the dark. Love it!
1:49 the "boop" we all needed.
I can die peacfully now.
when he explains he want to animate it a little i got goosebumbs, thats so cool WE WANA SEE
I've been watching this channel for a long time, and it never ceases to amaze me of the level of creativity and crazy ability to visualize something...and then it's standing in your shop/studio/yard! What an amazing job! I think this should have a desk lamp size clone.
Really enjoying your content. Not only are your projects a lot of fun, you are fantastic at presenting them!
great job, great workspace, great co-workers, everything that makes a Nerdforge top
That's an imperial knight soooooo
GLORY TO THE GOD EMPEROR AND GLORY TO HOUSE NERD FORGE!!!!!!
😂 yes!!
Damn it!!! You beat me to it.
AVE IMPERATOR!
House Nerdicus, obviously Forge World Nerd is their home planet
Love the Simon Stalenhag look to it with the hanging cables and the little antenna, the bipedal look plus the two glowing lights also reminds me of 20th Century Boys!
You should really charge a descent price for this Movie quality prop. I hope they put your name on the poster for this!
his is not a acceptable way to treat artists and it sets a very bad example to everyone in the industry, especially smaller studios and workshops not yet established.
I'm running out of words to express my amazement with each new video 😭😭 every time I'm torn between "there's no way this can actually be done" and "it's Martina, of course it'll be done!" and I know the second one always wins but God it's just so exciting to watch you cross over that line! also I know y'all said in a comment that you refused compensation but you literally deserve a billion dollars for this holy cow!!
this is so awesomely cooool and so insanely good. love it so much awesome work once again. love watching your videos.
Omg Martina you have outdone yourself. He is so adorable. I love the fact that they will animate him and power up and down too. The detail as usual is immense ❤❤
dang these builds just keep getting more insane
Martina is getting one step closer to building an entire fantasy dystopian city of her own.
It's so GOOD. the final shoot of it... I just waited for it to start mowing, it looks "real" and like something made out of metal and "real" stuff. It's magical. Love the rustic paintjob on it. 11 out of 5.
The robot is really cool. You, guys, are such an inspiration.
This was an AMAZING project! The beauty shots in the snow had such a Simon Stalenhag vibe... Wonderful.
Incredible work, Martina and Hansi! As always, your work is so impressive and it's a joy to see you bring an idea to life. He's an adorable "little" guy!
Great. I loved it a lot. This is a good-hearted robot who is unhappy about being scrapped. I think he's very lonely. Maybe you can make him a friend.
That is awesome. I hope you can share some of the results from this as it would be very cool to see it walking around.
It seems like you had extra fun with this project!
Me opening RUclips:
Ok... What can I see while eating?
Me, see the fricking huge robot:
EXCUSE ME, WHAAAT?!!
Same!!! 🤣
SANDING :D
Again, hats off and well done to you all and your studio.
Hoping I can bump up this very useful advice!
I love the fact that Martina can see her project with just the base done. I'm the same, but I never really met someone else who can get just as giddy over just something bare, because they can see their vision working out.
I sometimes try to explain my vision to people and how I can see it totally working out, but they never grasp it until its fully done.
It is part of the appeal of these videos. Seeing the bare bones get filled in because “you know it’ll be good” and you don’t have to do any work.
THIS. and the more excited you are, the less they understand. I always just end up cutting myself off with, well you'll see. Just trust me. 😂
A giant robot in a Swedish snow landscape. You've made Simon Stålenhag's vision come to life.
That montage in the middle was just riveting.
1:49 That really is a most "boopable" nose! Lol 😂😂
i can imagine seeing this thing running and being energetic in the animated version and aaaaaaaaaaaa its just so insane and so good, plus the antennas!!!! Imagine like a group of these guys with all different colors going around a junkyard kind of area, so good.
I haven’t even watched the video yet, but I just wanna get this off my chest.
My love for this channel and content has become so great over the years that when this popped up in my notifications tab, I didn’t even read the title of the video. I just saw NerdForge had posted something and I immediately sucked in a breath of excitement and clicked on it.
Now that I have read the title I’m doubly invested to see Martina’s madness manifest into reality.
Me too. I chose to watch this video first over several other channels that I like as well.
I love that Skjera Bagera at the start! 😂
That is absolutely insane but in the most incredible way!!! I'd LOVE to see clips from the production and the digital version they create from this if they will allow you to share that with us! Outstanding job, as always. Nerdforge is probably my most favorite creative channel across any and all forms of social media!
Hoodie and jogger came today, they are realy amazing and i love them. Great work
15:00 Easy to add castors under the feet, and later maybe hide an RC Offroader under one foot and it might move around a stage or smooth floor. It is ace. I do have a couple of robot ideas in mind but I was thinking of making it from wire ,covered in printed material so it was wearable.😂😂
I also like the idea of making a woodland shelter shaped like a flying saucer (I know they've been done before but there aren't enough of them). Your Robot looks great and it's only half built...I'll watch some more.
EDIT: Yes, you are a Genius! And Hans is a magical painter! I love the rust and ageing on the side panel too.
Awesome build! It's amazing how far you've come and have built up a reputation on building stuff and people are approaching you to build stage props for their indie films
The electric state movie adaptation. That’s what this looks like it would be in, I just love the build and process you took for it just 👌
as someone that loves robot characters in media
THIS ROBOT FREAKING ROCKS I LOVE IT SO MUCH AAAA
