Ok but can we talk about what would’ve happened if they went at the cockpit with that chainsaw? Like, how scary would it be to see a chainsaw slowly breaking into your hull and they just stop it with the chainsaw mid-way through the cockpit
Everybody says "so lame" "weird tractors" "a forklift would kill these" could be true but gently remind that technology kinda advances stupidily fast , the first compute ENIAC was of the size of a house and was barely able to have a good amount of ram and everybody said that conputers were trash and they had no future , now look at your smartphone today , it is 10000 times more powerful than ENIAC and weights 10000 times less , this may be lame and slow but everything has to start like that until become more powerful , lighter and faster , even human once were a baby that couldn't do anything for themselves , yet some of them did grow up change the world PD: square cube law ? Graphene is the solution
You’re right, Japan making a mecha that can strafe will make their fighting style more feasible. And I don’t think this will be a sport because the military definitely will step in and take the tech when it starts getting good.
The Maughan yeah , even the first plane wasn't able to flight more than 100 meters yet we have now jets that easily surpass sound speed , something that sounded super crazy many decades ago , honestly i see mecha future to be cuadrupedal that can switch between feet and wheels , wheels when you need speed and feet when you need to climb or the terrain is difficult (there were tanks that got stuck in mud and nobody came to get them out of it ) but mechas can have alot of forms tho
The director really wasn’t the problem, the problem was that the tech is still very new and clunky. Once they get better robots then maybe it’ll be more fun to watch, but for now it was really slow and boring for “robot” fighting.
I agree that them putting a person in the machines just completely took away the real excitement for the viewers and if anything might have made it more entertaining for the competitors themselves. For example, one of the robots fall over after being pushed. This might have been fun experiencing inside of the robot since you are still falling to a degree but from the outside, to me it looks just as exciting as a trashcan being blown over by the wind.
@@valor1omega better than the shit of giant excavator robots, the Japanese is not to do the functions of that one ... he has intelligence and will have freedom of movement, despite being attached to other structures for this.
was half expecting some kind of super advanced giant robot drone remote controlled from hundreds of kilometers away to show up, pick up each of those junkers in a hand. then putting them into time out corners before walking out of a wall. arms raised exasperatedly and a robotized voice yelling UNBELIEVABLE! as it walks trough the wall and then flies off.
American mecha be like: Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to me? And the japanese: I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer. American: Oh ho! Then come as close you like!
Suidobashi could have built a bigger robot if they'd wanted. They opted to stick with their smaller, faster design and let the other team maneuver them into a shoving match they couldn't win. Better luck next time.
Tamlinearthly That's would be meaningless if suidobashi build another bigger robot. The fight can't begin if they just keep build new one according to their enemy
Imagine this is a job or a competition you can make a living on. How cool would it be to tell others "Yeah, I'm a pilot" "Oh, for what airlines?" "I don't fly planes, I pilot titans"
I kind of feel they did a "I win, You win" thing for this event as an exibition as if I recall, that Kurata robot is manueverable enough to drive circles around the heavy tracked Megabot. They obviously also didn't take the hint about hand to hand.
I get it now. They made Iron Glory to draw attention and funds, then used the funds to build Eagle Prime. Thats the power of the free market. Smart move
Kevin Bush The second American robot was much more sophisticated than it looked. The first one was a little more crude and bulky. But that's why it failed so fast.
Kevin Bush true lol. I knew the kuratas would lose the moment they didn't set the weight rule. That's like asking a lightweight fight in the heavyweight class lol.
I liked the chainsaw, but as tradition, I'm more of a drill person like in those animes. A drill would be way cooler than a melon(?) and a paintball guns.
The amount of weight being thrown around is incredible. I'm used to watching NHRL and Battlebots. While those competitions are crazy in their own right, these megabots are just on an insane scale. Being inside these things must have been insane.
@@kennethwilliams2738 it’s just very hard to do that, these things weigh so much so it’s almost impossible to even throw a punch fast and hard enough to do true damage to the opposition
Oh You Laugh NOw... We Will be building these things with and running war from our living rooms wearing fruit of the looms and eating potato chips... you wait! Our Gamer Addicts of Today are our Knights of Remote Control Armor Tomorrow! :) haha
Kuratas asked for hand to hand. Megabot built a mech exclusively for that purpose. Kuratas insisted on fighting Megabot's first mech, which was not built for hand to hand. Why shouldn't have Megabot brought two mechs?
Yeah kuratas wins for me. Shame on those 2 pilots and their heavy for nothing robot make it looks like just bullying kuratas with its unfair power and weight.
The first battle did absolutely nothing to the Japanese bot, it might as well have not even happened 😅 really ended up just being a one-on-one... also I doubt there was less than an hour between the two parts of the second match so there was time to rest, hydrate, that sort of thing.
Actually, I'm pretty sure it was a draw, "Kutatas" took down "Iron Glory" the first match. The second match, they brought out "Eagle Prime". And both "Eagle Prime" and "Kuratas" got stuck and weren't moving. Third match, "Eagle Prime" Took down "Kuratas" with the claw and chainsaw so in total, it was 1/0 1/0 1/1.
Everyone is saying how this was boring but those people clearly never went to a car derby. watching this live would be AMAZING. and the time it must have took to make those mechs makes it that much more interesting. I do admit it wasnt pacific rim worthy but this was still amazing to watch and i want more
I was jacked. Lol this was so cool. Corporate sponsorship. High power engines like 1,000hp turbo diesels minimum. High speed servos, a desert arena, remote operated mechs for more of a disabling bout. Pnuematics in place of hydraulics.
@Nukagreed I was going to say that too. If these are the prototypes, and only done in 2 years for Eagle One. Imagine what we will have in 10-20 years if any form of contractor, including military, picks this up and flies with it. The thought of having a gundam, even slight, is quite the exciting prospect!
Look at the machines here, then think about what it took to produce them. My heart goes out to the guys that built these machines. Sweat and blood was lost. The producers, scriptwriters, and directors of this show have literally raped the rest of us with their storytelling.
The chainsaw was BS but the first one was in the same weight class. They definitely should've set limitations for the second robot though, and probably used something less likely to kill the other pilot than the chainsaw. If that hit a little to the right it would've killed the other pilot, geez. They got a bit too into the competition, I think they've watched too many episodes of Gundam
They both had gun, and the chainsaw setup was a claw and chainsaw. Technically that was the only one that went full melee. That said, they could've so easily killed someone with that thing, especially the other pilot. That was just plain not a fair move. Well, being double the weight is also kinda a separate weight class. They definitely needed better defined rules and safety precautions before doing this. Still, pretty cool gen 1 giant robot stuff. Give it 20 years and we might be touching on the tech that they're trying to emulate lol
Yeah not only that but they supposedly KNEW that the japanese team would do melee combat and they didn't even add any sort of anti flipping features to their bot like a wheelie bar or something to stop it from tipping over when they attack from the front? Seriously? It almost makes it seem like it's just some completely scripted WWE bullshit to me 😐
A lot of people talking shit because it wasnt to the (bot) death. Im excited! I used to play mek-commander and mek-warrior as a kid and now its finally starting to come true. This has potential!!!
Yeah it's pretty cool, although there was this show almost exactly like this when I was a wee lad, except the robots were piloted outside and away from the ring, meaning the bots could just go to town on each other. I remember one bit being cut in half and keep in mind the robots on this show were almost as big as these ones.
Watch the latest video here. They are now figuring out rules so future possible fights last longer than 10 seconds. I agree with you that the first duel was disappointingly short as no real rules where in place and just the heavier vehicle won. The rules will hopefully even out the performance of the different weight classes so the audience can enjoy a longer lasting fight.
I’ll save you some time. Tractors that kinda look like robots. 8:55 knocks over other robot 21:40 Modified ditch witch mangles other robot. About 10 seconds of action, the rest is all fluff....
That's why unpiloted robot fights are more interesting, because they having real deal weapons. Chainsaw, blades. Everything to actually destroy the opponent. I don't wanna watch piloted fights because only thing you need to do is just 50. BMG pilot cockpit and you done.
You do realized that'd just be a factor of who shot first, right? Because the name of the game would be put on the biggest gun you can to disable it in one shot, to counter this you'd need heavier metal plating which would slow down but that weight would just support a bigger gun so you're basically just asking for tank combat but much slower. I don't see what's wrong with the current standard besides the need for weight classes. Paintballs are a versatile ammunition, they can be used to block sensors or damage armor but they're not powerful enough to be all you need, you need to consider melee tech for the robot too. But anyone who expected two Gundams to be running around the stadium, explosions everywhere, are complete idiots.
Kuratas looks so well put together all around, the iron glory looks like it rolled out of a shed lmao. the match-up kinda gave me a street fighter vs proffesional vibe
Honestly gotta say this is actually pretty damn incredible. For everyone trying to hate on you, you'd think they'd at least understand that the technology isn't quite there yet to have full on robot wars where they can move around easily and maneuver but the people who went to great lengths to build these robots, while also putting on a show I can easily respect that. the 2nd duel was by far my favorite, and I'm impressed with many of these robots gadgets, like the giant claw
If battlebots exist, this HAS to exist without pilots... you literally cannot say a small rumba can exist but a slightly bigger rumba is IMPOSSIBLE. It's just a shitty scripted show.... if it wasn't, they would have had real weapons and no pilots in the bot.
@@Machina0926 Ah yes and battle bots isn't dangerous with metal shrapnel flying everywhere, fire, and sometimes even explosions. All one had to do it set them up in said large building like this, surround the thing in bulletproof material and there you go. Have the pilots watch from monitors and thus make having multiple cameras actually matter, and have people watch something they came here for...Giant Robots destroying eachother...
I don't see a future for fights of manned robots. There is no need to risk human lives and make the battles less destructive just to protect the pilots. Anyway, those robots were very good looking and could be modified and improved. A nice first step.
Cosmoman78 if this takes off I reckon there will be if this properly takes off as a sport but beacause they had like two mechs globally that can actually fight so they were propably went let's just fight them all and see how we do
i thought the same, but think about this, those are the very first robots ever built of that size and with pilot-able capabilities, this is the kick off start! as team medabots said at the ending, its time to make it a league, add weight balancing, etc. this is itttt!!! enjoyed this A LOT!
You didn't need to rig and make this so scripted. Technical limitations aside, I'd been just as happy watching you guys trying to actually make two machines fight. As soon as you put your a human in the driver seat essentially piloting a construction vehicle you know nothing's gonna happen to either of them.
Because the whole point for is for the mechs. That's what the creators wanted, and that's what they're doing. No one is going to pay millions for a one time go at "larger Battle Bots". And even then, they wouldn't have the destruction you're looking for, as there is no way they could pay for repairs.
There was a lot of damage, they literally sawed open half of the Kuratas Arm. Your unrealistic expectations of damage=Would never be able to happen again as they would have to spend millions building an entirely new one from scratch, because this isn't Battlebots, these things are extremely expensive and took years to build.
Look tbh this wasn't really a robot battle like anyone imagined but still props to the guys for building those 2 bots .. Keep in mind that robotics isn't developed enough in this time that we could have had a robot battle like we imagined secondly they didnt really have a budget that could allow them to build something better ... So for what its worth they should be proud .

So was the third fight.
3rd 1 was don't bring a paintball gun to a chainsaw fight.
This fight clearly shows that long range isn't as effective as close range combat. Using non lethal rounds, of course.
They should allow some form of armor piercing round, maybe non ballistic capped steel, and limit maximum muzzle velocity to 100m/s
kuratas was trying to take out the cameras and take away eagle prime's vision. thus the paintball
Japan: Only hand to hand
America: *light fixture, chainsaw, multiple cannons* *laughter*
Ok but can we talk about what would’ve happened if they went at the cockpit with that chainsaw? Like, how scary would it be to see a chainsaw slowly breaking into your hull and they just stop it with the chainsaw mid-way through the cockpit
Something says inferiority complex about it

Exactly, people don't realize what progress Is. I mean the amount of money and hours they must have taken to build these robots. It's amazing.

Who's the director? Find him and fire him.
They hired the Mythbusters production crew.
Well THERE's your problem.
The director really wasn’t the problem, the problem was that the tech is still very new and clunky. Once they get better robots then maybe it’ll be more fun to watch, but for now it was really slow and boring for “robot” fighting.
Jaston Yuh totally
Not your style? Leave
I agree that them putting a person in the machines just completely took away the real excitement for the viewers and if anything might have made it more entertaining for the competitors themselves. For example, one of the robots fall over after being pushed. This might have been fun experiencing inside of the robot since you are still falling to a degree but from the outside, to me it looks just as exciting as a trashcan being blown over by the wind.

... And this is why we have weight classes in professional fighting.
Right? 40 hp vs 80 hp, then 430 hp to 80. lol. I loved it anyway though.
Suidobashi could have built a bigger robot if they'd wanted. They opted to stick with their smaller, faster design and let the other team maneuver them into a shoving match they couldn't win. Better luck next time.
Tamlinearthly but that K.O on the First round tho... Hehe

"I don't fly planes, I pilot titans"
I kind of feel they did a "I win, You win" thing for this event as an exibition as if I recall, that Kurata robot is manueverable enough to drive circles around the heavy tracked Megabot. They obviously also didn't take the hint about hand to hand.
I get it now. They made Iron Glory to draw attention and funds, then used the funds to build Eagle Prime. Thats the power of the free market. Smart move

Robots need to be in the same weight class for it to be fair. I found the Japanese bot to be the more innovative.
Kevin Bush The second American robot was much more sophisticated than it looked. The first one was a little more crude and bulky. But that's why it failed so fast.
Also it was fair game to be honest mate. If this does kick off then there will indeed be weight classes mate.
Kevin Bush true lol. I knew the kuratas would lose the moment they didn't set the weight rule. That's like asking a lightweight fight in the heavyweight class lol.
Yeah, it was a foolish fight. The big robot is just a big mole, and, for God sake, a chainsaw...
I liked the chainsaw, but as tradition, I'm more of a drill person like in those animes. A drill would be way cooler than a melon(?) and a paintball guns.

Kuratas won in my opinion, the Megabot team brought two bots, ain’t fair
Frankly the whole thing seems scripted anyway...
Kuratas asked for hand to hand. Megabot built a mech exclusively for that purpose. Kuratas insisted on fighting Megabot's first mech, which was not built for hand to hand. Why shouldn't have Megabot brought two mechs?
Yeah like, Japan had one robot to Cover three different battles while USA could specialize each round and had a "fresh set of legs"

*fair?*
IKR
Fair
I mean technically chainsaws are metal and they said metal to metal so idk what your talking about

Yeah not only that but they supposedly KNEW that the japanese team would do melee combat and they didn't even add any sort of anti flipping features to their bot like a wheelie bar or something to stop it from tipping over when they attack from the front? Da reel MVP, ty!
It's like the robots are fighting each other but they're not allowed to damage the opponent.
That's why unpiloted robot fights are more interesting, because they having real deal weapons. Chainsaw, blades. Everything to actually destroy the opponent. I don't wanna watch piloted fights because only thing you need to do is just 50. BMG pilot cockpit and you done.
That is what killed the fun, the safety of the pilots will never allow for more serious weapons. Use unmanned robots next time.
I don't wanna watch two deformed tanks shooting each other. Japan was right with pushing for hand-to-hand, much more interesting.
What's the point of making giant robots if whom ever is piloting it is a 100yds away.
Eagle Prime had a Chainsaw.
24 minutes of fluff, 2 minutes of actual robot duelling. :P
