Had a boyfiend in the '90s that would wake me up in the morning singing Syd, sitting in my kitchen window, on his acoustic guitar. Makes me smile everytime I hear this... :)

How awesome is this! I love Syd so much that when I had the chance to study abroad, I chose Cambridge, England, so I could try & find him! Sadly, I didn't. But it was nice just to walk the streets where he tread...

mr. musical tunes, I checked your profile and found this! Thank you for leading me to this gem! I was trying to reply to your reply. I saw Pink Floyds appearance on Television on American Bandstand in 67. I never saw Syd live. I saw Floyd once in 72.

He is beyond delicious!!!! Something about him is just otherworldly but at the same time not at all. Like this earthly adonis. Gah! Reminds me of one of Byron's tragic heroes. The thoroughly gorgeous and beautifully brilliant Barrett.

Happy Birthday Syd Barrett. You will never be forgotten. Piper At The Gates Of Dawn is 1 of the greatest albums ever made. See Emily Play is one of the great psychedelic songs. Madcap Laughs is such an amazing solo album along with Barrett.
Without your founding the Pink Floyd and writing and playing lead guitar on almost all of Pink Floyd's first recording's and coming up with the brilliant name, then Roger Waters wouldn't have had the ideas and inspiration for Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall. Rest In Peace Syd Barrett. We will forever remember your genius. 🚲🎸👁️💊🍊🍎😺🎩☂️

So true!!.. Syd single handedly jump started the whole psychedelic scene with the Floyd in their early days at the UFO club in London. By the time his dimentia had taken it's toll they were already household names. Gilmour stepped in and being a guitar god and musical genius in his own right, propelled the Floyd into super stardom.. Syd will always be a rock icon..

Syd Barrett got TWO top-twenty singles from a single album "Piper at the Gates of dawn", which was the only one with his songs. The other members of Pink Floyd tryed many ideas, but it took them many years and many unsuccessful albums to get at least one single in the top charts. Of course when you try almost everything to be as successful as Syd, you can succeed. Even without any talent. Syd Barrett was much much more talented than other Pink Floyds. Music simply came out of him

  • @RayManzarekGod

Ta for posting this video. The inimitable Roger Barrett was so very brilliant. More so than The Beatles et al. It just came so easy to him. The most talented one is up on the scaffolding with Shakespeare and The Sex Pistols. Every damn song he wrote is unique...

its rare to see syd so animated as he is here. most footage that exists is of the "ill" syd. this on the other hand was filmed before the floyd "went pop" i guess you could say, so he appears to be in good spirits and getting great joy and artistic satisfaction from making this video. his energy can be felt here, and it feels very similar to the nigel gordon film. does anyone agree? very sad when u realize that beautiful boy in the video is only months away from taking a trip that never ended

Can anyone get this saved and viewable in Quicktime? This clip is amazing, I've never seen it documented that there was a 2nd promo for Arnold Layne.Be good to find the source too and get a better quality version of it.Fantastic stuff, this is the most interesting clip to surface since the film for Jugband Blues appeared. This clip was the first time I saw film of Syd since his death, couldn't bring myself to see or hear him yet. Brings it home what we lost.

i dont understand why people say syd barret went crazy...he was the one who made pink floyd...without him pink floyd would hv nevr been the same...he made` choices to experiment with LSD so wt its his life and he livd the way he wanted to..and he is the true pioneer of psychedelic rock and one of the best musicians and song writter on this planet...

I remember an interview with Dick Clark, but beyond Syd being utterly out of it, details are vague. I was a sixteen year old freak who spent a bit of time listening to powrtouch and instellar overdrive looking out of the window of my friends modern highrise apartment indetroit through the wtong end of a pair of binoculars tripping on purple owsley. A little atmospheric reference for a true appreciation of the 67 Floyd Experience.

well it can range from minor stuff like seeing static and floaters on the surface of your eye to severe symtpoms like permenantly tripping (not the same as flashbacks): seeing faces in woodgrain, not being able to read b/c the words blend together, seeing straight lines wave, seeing flase psychedelic patterns, having severe anxiety attacks and fading out of reality (basically mental disorders). Doesn't happen to many ppl but most of those who do have it HATE it and can get really depressed.
