I like to hit stingers out of sand traps, over the green, directly into the woods.
I think that is called catching it thin haha

Saw Arnold Palmer hit a stinger on the par 4 18th tee at Ashbourne CC right outside Philly. I had no idea the shot was called a stinger but it was the coolest thing ever. I was standing right behind him when he hit it. That was back in 1970 and I remember it like yesterday.

Thanks guys... Took me 10 to 15 min to get it to work more or less with my 2 iron but I will perfect it. Now I have a use for that 2 iron I picked up in a yard sale. Using for narrow fairways and windy days or just to show off, lol.

I can hit a stinger with all my irons. I just never know when I'm gonna launch one though but I can say it is usually at the wrong time to launch one.
I was taught to imagine the logo on your glove pointing down at impact and that's always worked for me. I think Tiger said something similar many years ago. Basically imagine a bowed wrist at impact.

excellent hand eye helps too. Not knowing, I would assume Brodie is good at ping pong as well.
If you play a lot, its easy to pick things up. Also, he is working on the right things. Most people have bad habits to fix. Well he already had sound mechanics so he can improve faster than most people.

Zac is so consistent in all his videos as to how he performs this shot. I am starting to become proficient but as Zac stated he had a year to perfect this one year

Have to try this. I always kept mine low by putting the ball further back in my stance and chopping down with a hooded clubface. Goes straight and low, just not that much distance.

I go 3 wood, move it back 1-2 inches, tee it lower just off the turf, close face just a hair, and stay centered over it. Goes low, with a tad of draw, rolls out nice.
i think we need to press our left grip little bit to controll swing line..

DAMNIT!!! Now I need to go back to the range and start only hitting stingers. I work on low flight 6 iron for under trees but never this shot. Never remember it. Got to work on this one.
Watched this and went straight to the range. Bought 100 balls. Attempted 100 stingers. My next round I don’t think I’ll be hitting a regular shot.

I prefer to hit stingers with my 60 degree wedge, usually from 80 yards out and it goes about 140 yards.

Yeah. You want a low loft. So obviously you aren't gonna be able to do it with a wedge but I'd say you could go up to a 4 iron and still hit a stinger
I hit at least 5 stingers per round, my mates call them toppers, what do they know.

It should be done off tee so u can hit it down on the ball
I liked the before shot tbh. I think the way your guest was doing it is just another way to swing in general and causes you to pull your shot instead of being able to swing at it more or less normally like you were doing at the start.

Not sure I can understand the noodle arms thing. Keeping your left arm stiff is gonna ensure not hitting a fat or thin shot, so not sure how you're gonna consistently hit a sure shot with flexed arms. Another element of this swing has to be more critical to the shot. Guess I just need to get out and try it.

Tight arms and hands = speed killer, it tends to shoot up with little distance.
I was wondering what the name of the shot I was doing. My follow thru is a bit more shallow than your guys. Maybe half way up to my waist/chest.

If Tiger claims him inventing the stinger,?...then he is dishonest! Low ball flight shots were the ORIGINAL GOLF SHOT in and around early days.....home of golf, St,Andrews. Every hack and Jack played it as it was effective in the wind. Im sure Tiger copied it and renamed it. I think its a common punch shot
