  • The Fujifilm X100VI is here! I'll share thoughts on 6 new features and much more.
    Here's the rest of the story... A couple of weeks ago, Fujifilm dropped off the X100VI at Kenmore Camera, and I was able to take it home for a couple of days to create some product photos for our promotion and to create some photos for myself. Of course, I chose to head to Bellevue for some street photos. More on that later…
    Here’s the outline of the video:
    00:00 Intro
    01:37 Disclaimers
    02:30 New features in X100VI
    05:14 What’s the same as X100V?
    06:21 Using the X100VI for street photography
    10:22 Summary First Impressions of X100VI

    *** IMPORTANT CORRECTION *** In the video, when I mention 6.2K video feature, I say that it is "open gate." This is not correct! The 6.2K video feature option in the X100VI uses the 3:2 aspect ratio of the sensor, but NOT the entire sensor. My apologies for the error!

      Haha I was just about to comment on this but saw you already addressed! Boy do I wish it was true open gate, but if it’s actually 3:2 it would seem you could still frame for both 16:9 and 9:16?

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@ramblingcameraman990 Yes, with 3:2 you have both 16:9 and 9:16 crop in frame.

    Something I've picked up on is that the internal teleconverter now is expressed in focal lengths rather than 1.4x and 2x which I think is great. I'm curious if that will adapt when using a converter lens.
    A bit odd that these focal lengths are in FF terms while the lens states 23 in APSC terms...
    Wish I was still in the UK as Fuji UK will let you test any lens or camera for free for effectively 4 days and pays for the courier both ways also. Doubt they will have too mamy loaners availabke though!

    @Michael. Can you please make a hand held video with X100VI just to understand how good or bad is IBIS for video.

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  5 месяцев назад

      Hi! In my experience with IBIS in X-H2S it is helpful to smooth out slow and steady motions, but will not replace a gimbal. As i mentioned in the video, I did not have an opportunity to try video in the short time I had the x100VI. As soon as I have access again, I will share an update. Cheers!

      @IvarsDayLab 5 месяцев назад

      @@MSladekPhotoI know, but X-H2 is much bigger camera icl. lens and it's much easier to handheld with ibis on, but here you have lighter, smaller camera that will take more shakes if you are walking so I guess it will be worse than X-H2

      @@IvarsDayLab I noticed in Fujifilm’s announcement they mentioned a gyroscope element to help with IBIS. That was not mentioned in my briefing by Fujifilm rep, so didn’t put much effort into checking it out. Agreed about lighter/smaller body generally being more prone to less stability. Thanks for watching!

    Is the 6.2k open gate? I had not seen that reported elsewhere. Thanks.

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  5 месяцев назад

      No, 6.2k is not open gate (full sensor readout), but is 3:2 ratio recording. I think I said open gate in video, which is incorrect. Thanks for watching and sharing your question!

    What is slightly different in the body? Will the same cases fit the VI?

    • @MSladekPhoto
      @MSladekPhoto  5 месяцев назад

      The VI is 2mm thicker to allow for IBIS and sensor assembly. Cases for the V will probably not fit the VI.

    Thanks for the review Michael. Sorry but I don't understand the hype for this camera, it is retailing for $2900 Australian dollars where I live so will never grace my camera bag. I shoot Xh2 and if I was to nuy a small camera for street photography I could grab a S20 for about $1900 and save $1000. I have plenty of small lenses in my lens line up that would match with S20 and provide a very small combo, thinking Sigma 18 50.

      Hi! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I agree! I think it’s a bit of a prestige/style camera and not the best bang for the buck. I’m thinking to get a 27mm 2.8 pancake and attach to my X-T3 to have an equivalent for everyday car. Or, if can ever find one, a Ricoh GRIII, which is even smaller and lighter. Here’s to enjoying your XH2!

      …one more x100vi for me!😈

    • @brownbear100
      @brownbear100 5 месяцев назад

      X-s20 doesn't come with a lens though. The closest equivalent is the 23 f2. Buy those together and you're paying the same as the x100vi and have a lens that isn't as good.
      Of course you can change lenses, a big plus. But isn't that what the X-h2 is for?
      I would struggle to justify this as an only camera, as I do like the possibility to choose lenses not just for focal lengths but for characteristics. But as a secondary lightweight option, absolutely.
      Used to have the V, and simply because of how much more relaxed people are with that camera and how much less obvious and intimidating you are - even if you think you're not - you just get a completely different kind of shot and feeling using it. And you get away with or don't draw attention taking it to places you might otherwise not or wouldn't feel comfortable - think schools or kids parties with often sensitive parents, events or places where cameras might not be allowed. Obviously limited by the focal length, but that's also part of the attraction... if you like the FL!
      It is definitely expensive as a secondary camera, but prices of the V have predictably crashed, and I just picked up a nearly new one again for €800 less than the VI. Was six months without one and missed so many opportunities when I didn't want to bring the bigger x-t5.
