  • I have been doing intermittent fasting for 1 year now and have had good results. This is just a quick overview of the whole thing, in case anyone wants to try it themselves.

    Intermittent fasting is great. Longer fasts are better. The longer you fast the more you heal.

    I don't usually make comments on RUclips videos anymore but I could not help saying this; first off, thank you for the vid, awesome for you. "Just stop eating breakfast" NICE! Great job, good start for most folks! 2nd thing (the real reason I am commenting); You have probably been told this many times but your voice inflection, look, facial expressions and mannerisms are just like Ron Livingston...you know, Peter from the movie Office Space! I mean MAN, you could say you're his younger brother and I wouldn't even dream of 2nd guessing it. I would be like; "well it's kinda obvious". LOLOL! Anywho, rock on! Thanks for all you do and share with us.

    Brandon--big congrats on your success with intermittent fasting. It works amazingly well. I also combine it with a strict ketogenic diet with excellent results due to post cancer. Keep up the great work.

    I started intermittent fasting for years but I was only going 12 hours. I wasn't gaining weight but I wasn't really losing either. Then I was told by a friend who is a nurse practitioner to go at least 16 hours and always end the fast with a healthy protein because the first thing you eat to break the fast sets your the tone for how your body handles everything else you eat for the rest of the day. Besides that I don't restrict what I eat at all. Also I try to drink a quart of water for every 50 pounds you weigh. I wear a Fitbit and make sure to get ever 10,000 steps, equaling 5 miles and 10 stair sets in there. Doing that for the past 3 years I have slowly lost 55 pounds. If I cut out suger and dairy and only ate healthy it would probably work even better.

      Intermittent dating? That doesn't sound healthy...
      j/k I know what you meant. Good job on the 10k steps, I am usually only around 6-7k myself. You are spot on with the sugar though I think. One of the things that has helped me is I never had much of a sweet tooth to begin with, so for me sugar intake has always been low. I do enjoy bread though, which I think basically has the same impact.

      @@BrandonStecklein Hahah, whoops! I had several typos in there! Yeah, I have had a major sweet tooth all my life. I have been moving to using more natural sweetners at least with cooking. Stevie, monk fruit, molasses, honey, pure Maple syrup.

    I knew fasting would work when I remembered in school I never ate breakfast until at lunch until 11-12. The OMAD I also relate to.

    • @BrandonStecklein
      @BrandonStecklein  8 месяцев назад

      for me, the longer I go the more the OMAD way seems to be turning into the normal, without even trying. some days it is just easier to eat a big meal and be done with it.

    The only issue I had with skipping eating for 24 hours was coming out of the gym and being so violently ill I was sick in the parking lot so I stopped doing that. But congrats on your gains!

      yeah i think going to the gym would be rough on a 24hr fast

    I will say this lines up with my experience as well. I’ve been intermittently fasting for over a year now. I started more rigid but now I’m a bit more flexible. Though I think I may go through another rigid period 😅

    Hi Bradon - did you face any issues with gallbladder stones? Did you research this?

    • @BrandonStecklein
      @BrandonStecklein  8 месяцев назад +1

      I did not research it at first, but I did read about it later on down the road. I do not think I have any gallbladder stone issues though, but I am glad you brought that up, I wish I would have remembered to mention that in the video since I read they can be associated with rapid weight loss.

    I don’t do it everyday now but I do a few times a week. I notice I don’t get sick anymore. But also flu season just getting started. I lost a bunch of muscle. Now I look very athletic instead of muscular. Im ok with that.

    • @BrandonStecklein
      @BrandonStecklein  8 месяцев назад

      I lost some muscle as well, so I had to start working out to compensate. I think I am back up to normal on muscle again (normal for me of course, I do still have a "computer programmers' body")

    I've heard fasting can be good for you at times. The same with a Keto-style diet as well

      I have at least moved to smaller portions, and while once a month I do go out and "feed the hangry stomach" the rest of the month its 2-3 meals a day but small portions.
