The game i would play on it would definetly be call of duty modern warfare or a racing game. I would love to try cyberpunk on it too. cranking the performance to the max.
For me, this is the laptop of 2023! It's got something for everyone in meaningful ways. I recently ordered the Dell XPS 9530 (with i9 and rtx 4070 @40W [!]) only because corporate wouldn't subsidize the Legion Slim 7i, "a gaming laptop". I'm looking forward to the day when such descriptions drop and a powerful all-rounder is simply recognized as such.
What about "creator laptops"?
I’m like 99% getting this laptop, not fit gaming, but because it can handle the drawing, animating, and 3d programs I use well. I was just concerned because I’m going to be using this in class as well and didn’t want it to look distracting and make a bunch of fan noise, so I think this laptop is a good option for me! I’m probably going to wrap it in white too :)

@@sh3jerry nope! The keys are pretty average. I have somewhat small hands and I don’t have any problems typing! The keys are very satisfying to type on too

About the numpad on 2:18... i´m a gamer and I work for a publishing house so the numpad is essential when managing paragraphs on Adobe InDesign. The fact that I can do both is perfect, I own a Nitro 5 and I just decided to buy this Legion Slim 7i instead of an Alienware or Asus Zephyrus just for the numpad, because when I travel I don´t carry a keyboard with me. Great review!

Omg this is exactly the type of laptop I want. I would love to bring a gaming laptop out in public while working on some of my projects without it screaming "I'm a gaming laptop". Also the battery life on this thing is pretty impressive. I honestly would play RPG (roleplaying games) on this laptop.
Yeah Lenovo is definitely the brand for that. Their gaming laptop line are actually pretty slick and clean in design. I recommend them. Just a matter of finding which one fits what you are looking for perfectly and for the right price as well. I have a Gen 7( their gen 7 line basically means 2022 release) Lenovo legion 5 pro with rtx 3060. Very clean. The Asus ROG zephyrus laptops is also not super aggressive in design either. The HP victus and HP omen laptops aren't aggressive either in design. Their is definitely more but it's all up to preference. Most people go for gaming laptops for the power so it can be used for many things that isn't gaming either. If you are looking for a laptop, good luck with your journey
@@Solokid404 I currently have an MSI sword, it's not overkill but people can definitely tell it's a gaming laptop and the battery life on it is terrible. 3hrs max on just browsing, and RUclips. I know Lenovo definitely has a better battery life. Buying laptops for sure is a journey 🤣🤣 I'm so picky but this Lenovo has everything I want
Did you ever get it? Best Buy has a sick deal for the Intel models open box mint for $760! I just got the AMD version and love it. I get 7-9 hours battery life non gaming with normal use. It's cool to the touch. Gaming, I switch off the RX6800s and use the rDNA 680M APU for light games and emulation. Save battery that way. I plug in and use the GPU for AAA games and get performance close to the 3070! The laptop is fantastic. I paid a little more for the AMD version bc it has the better screen and processor for my needs (gaming) but you can't go wrong with any of these. You'll love it
Impressive specs, especially with a high refresh rate 3K display. Simulation games would be so smooth with this machine!
This laptop is the most ideal for content creators and gamers alike-- I would appreciate this laptop to no end while gaming the uncharted titles, Halo, Forza, and Rocket League. Being that this is portable I'm super excited to have those perfect rocket league gaming sessions on the go. Editing content will be a breeze as well and that's why I'd always appreciate this incredible laptop.

I was able to get a clear picture of how the legion slim 7i would perform without even trying it out myself. I had recently ordered a dell inspiron 14 plus 7430 which I regretted badly as it was blow fan like crazy and overheating even just using it out of the box. I was looking on this product, and thanks to your concise and great review I was able to make up my mind. Lenovo knocks it out of the park this year. I have bought the non-slim version of this Legion 7i Pro with the RTX 4080 and it's been flawless for me. I wanted the Slim version, but ultimately decided I want an RTX 4080 in my desktop replacement machine.
For those of you who like this Legion, but would prefer a keyboard without a numpad, check out the 6th generation ThinkPad P1. I have one with the RTX 2000 Ada Generation GPU and it runs all my games at 60 FPS with high/ultra details without an issue, is thin and light and has a gorgeous 16" 165 Hz IPS screen. Rock solid magnesium/carbon fibre build quality, it also sports a fingerprint scanner, as well as a 1080p webcam compatible with Windows Hello.
I am addicted to those classic matte black/carbon fibre ThinkPad looks.

Points to be made about the design:
1) that touchpad should've definitely been bigger, considering it's not even touchscreen.
2) That big-ass numpad makes everything off-centered and it has to go! It's about time Lenovo start offering numpad-less laptops, even in the 16 inch factor. (Maybe sell an external one separately, if one strongly desires it. But like you can get a decent one anywhere with 15$)
3) Page up/page down keys. Shouldn't be difficult since they literally have empty space there.
4) again, keyboard: they need to finally make them keys black color, not the color of the case! (like in macbooks or any other high-end devices). This would provide an elegant contrast. Cause as of now, it genuinely feels cheap! Especially in Legion 5, and mind you these laptops are NOT cheap!
Side note: that curve at the end of each key in the keyboard is also aesthetically unpleasant to me. Completely square-ish keys would look more appropriate, since this is a high end laptop.

Interesting, this looks like something I'd buy. It's rare to find a laptop with good specs and full size SD slot. It's not in my country yet, maybe it will come later.
Heat is rarely an issue for longevity anymore. It's more about maintaining clockspeeds and max performance. And noise vs comfort and of course, as the keyboard and mouse are integrated and will impact the user experience.
The laptop looks sleek, I'm digging the asthetics. I'd love to see what Final Fantasy Stormwalkers looks like on this.

I ordered it in France thanks to your test. I9/4070/2K/1To/32gb. Its a beast laptop, bad points to me the ac adapter is heavy and I miss RJ45.

I was interested in something similar when I bought the Asus Vivobook Pro 16 OLED. I soon found that these slim high powered laptops can NOT manage the thermals. It was shutting down in the middle of games, overheating. I swapped it for another one that had the same problem. So I gave up on the slim ones and went back to the big gaming model...an MSI Raider GE68HX...big, noisy, LED light filled and no cooling or throttling issues! These slim laptops are not ready...

115w tgp is crazy for such price point... you won't be able to take 4060 to it's maximum capacity.

I don't understand why Lenovo still isn't offering a 2-in-1 convertible option in the Legion line-up! It'd be best to make it only in the 14 inch versions IMO.
As of now only ASUS ROG flow X13 is a proper high performance 2 in 1 laptop with a dGPU, but it's 2023 and we NEED more options in the "2 in 1 high performance laptop" segment!!
(for clarity, I mean a 2 in 1 touchscreen laptop with dedicated GPU that can be rotated 360° amd be used as a tablet too)
P. S. I'd need that for engineering. Productivity + dGPU for solidworks/CAD would've been a killer conbo!

Great video. What do you think about this laptop for content creation. I have been very interested in the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i 14" but it is currently out of stock in Canada and could be a few months before it is restocked. I shifted my search to the Slim 7 Pro X but it decreases some of the specs I am interested in. I recently found this Legion Slim 7 and 7i. I do typical office work but also do graphic design and photo editing. The specs and build quality on this laptop seem pretty impressive. Honestly, I don't game but I am impressed with the specs on this laptop. Would you recommend it for graphic design or wait for the Slim Pro 9i to be restocked. Thanks

In terms of weight and flat hinge design it's comparable to Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Extreme (minus the numpad and red trackpoint), but I think the Legion has better benchmark numbers than X1E due to better cooling and probably cheaper too.

These Legion Slim Sevens' actual weight changes noticeably depending on the config, and weight is very important to me. Did you actually measure the fan noise on every mode? You mentioned the ability to pick per key rgb lighting or a single white background, where on legions website can I configure like that?
I would mainly do work in that laptop and also edit videos without me worrying about my laptop being blue screen because my current laptop will stutter even open chrome. I do take care of my laptop very well but no amount of factory reset could fix the slowness of my laptop (it's old).
As for gaming, I do like playing Minecraft, especially I would like to try playing on RTX settings on.
I was really hopeful that I could at least try my luck on winning the giveaway but unfortunately I live in the Philippines, better luck next time I guess.

I picked one of these up yesterday at Best Buy. Legion Slim 7i, 16", i9 13900H, RTX 4070, 16 gig ram, 1tb M.2. Seems ok,,,, just another over priced laptop most desktops kick around like a ball. You can upgrade the ram and it has a open M.2 slot for more storage space. Have a few external SSD's and a 1tb Sandisk Extreme and they work well with it and bench out. SD slot is on the slow side which sucks a tad. It charges my iphone 13 Pro Max and iPad Pro 12.9" M1. Have also charged the S7 off of a Anker 45w type-C charger used with my phone and pad. I could not justify a i9 139xxHX with a RTX 4080/4090 or AMD series9 with all the BS AMD, Asus and others are doing right now. RGB is weak on it. But I'm not a rainbow warrior so absolutely no big deal to me. It's not loaded up with a ton of bloatware,,, semi clean really except for Win11 which sucks ass. This lappy will end up spending a fare amount of time in linux when I populate the open M.2 slot. Machine has a built in basic boot manager so dual booting is a option. Bios is typical main stream crap. Hopefully Lenovo will come out with some updated bios with some real options in it. It looks like Lenovo has the cpu ever so slightly down clocked,,, just a tad. The cooling solution is ok but nothing to get excited about,,, typical marketing BS, go to college learn to lie join a marketing dept. type of stuff. Mine has the 60/120/240 hz refresh rate panel. Plenty bright will do HDR and the colors seem good. Is it as good as my ipad pro or the wifes MacBook Pro? No it's down a half step but close enough for me considering how much more useable and flexible it is over any carpeted jail cell product from Apple/Mac. I'm sure you will find them on sale soon enough to make them a even better buy. Seems to be a good product....

@@agumon1605 Yeah it makes noise. Crank all the power up and the fans make noise. It's a freaking air cooled solution. Leave it in whimper mode and it's silent.
oh yeah??? tell us what else you can get for this much money that's this extremely premium and built like MacBook Pro's, has option for 7940hs and has excellent display and is mostly silent(7940hs version)??! tell me because I have not seen anything like this among windows laptops so far..
If you want cheap shit quality and inferior materials go get a zephyrus or plastic garbage ROG.

@@jazzylev i did..you cry about thermals..why didn't you wait for the 7940 version that's faster multi threaded and single threaded and is way more efficient at low/medium CPU load.
Is it as good as an M2MAX? No. Is it better for windows development and gaming? Yes.
Miss I have two questions:- i have Lenovo legion slim 7i gen7 2022 purchased this with rtx3050ti.if i have two ram both 8gb total 16gb. slot one is solded ram is rx16 and other is changeable (but its allso rx16). so if i remove other and put rx8 . of same dd5 4800mah. will it work? allso speed will incresse? is it a good idea?
