    This was easy to understand. It made me realize I need to take it for my first try. Since I have no charges for gunsmith services. I know I can do this though. On my next purchase I will

    I would have moved the mount back farther if possible... But if you like it I'm with you! 🤓

    You DO NOT want your eye piece, center turrets, or beveled edge where the the scope changes size in the front or back to be touching the scope rings!!!! This can throw off groupings😢 please fix

       a little late but you dont want your mount touching the adjustments on your scope nor the objective piece, or it will mess with your zero as you shoot. Keep it on the flat neck away from any bevel and or disleveled area

      A little bit, not too bad though. It's kind of the nature of the beast with a scope on an AR

    The scope mount should be slid back then lock on the pic rail.
    Uncle Sam says so anyway. Recoil of the rifle can cause the mount to slide back if it loosens for some reason

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  4 месяца назад +3

      I disagree, when you mount the base you want it pushed forward against the lugs of the pic rail and tightened down. When the gun is fired, it moves back....if the mount is to the rear you are relying on the clamp force to hold it in place instead of the physical lug on the pic rail holding it with the clamping force. If the clamp is loose neither way would matter, but sliding it forward gives it a physical barrier to hold it when the gun is fired

    • @vinnier6
      @vinnier6 2 месяца назад +1

      That’s incorrect, recoil will force it to move forward, that’s why you pull it forward and tighten

    This was incredibly helpful!!! Thank you!! One question - Do you find it difficult to chamber a round, given that your fingers will have reach in between the rear of the scope and the lever you have to pull back? Thanks again for an excellent video!

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  10 месяцев назад +2

      I don't personally find it difficult, I can see why it could be though, depending on the mount you use or eye relief.

    • @sherwinarae
      @sherwinarae 10 месяцев назад

      @@ballisticallychallenged clearly I’m new to this lol. When you chamber do you use both your index and middle finger and go directly underneath the scope? Or do you use a single finger on the side of the rifle?

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  10 месяцев назад +1

      @sherwinarae honestly it's personal preference. I just use one finger on the side.... It's more comfortable for me. My son uses both.

  • @sammyboyde6489

    Are you setting eye relief at full mag, or 1x? I find on my rig if I set the correct lop, I need to change it and move the stock forward one notch for decent relief at full mag, this with the rear of the scope about 2" behind the charge handle. I see most mount jobs have the end of the scope even with the charge handle which I would prefer but would cause different welds between magnifications, 1x - 8x. Guess this is normal and you just need to find the compromise that's the most comfortable? Same exact scope/mount combo as yours

    Hi Sir,
    I thank you for making this video because I am new to the AR and am seeking LPVO mounting advice.
    Someone is selling an ADM Cantilever 30mm mount for less than half the price and I dont know if its a good fit for my 16" AR15 because of how much cantilever it has. Id like to buy it because it is high quality and is a quick release, but just dont know if it wise.
    Again, thank you.

    The rear mount should not be flush up against the wind/elev adjustments. I would have an equidistant gap for both rings away from the adjustments.

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  Год назад +2

      Ideally you would set the scope perfectly in the middle of the cantilever mount, but that doesn't work all the time. 2 things I keep in mind when mounting a scope on an AR are charging handle access and eye relief. I'll set it wherever it needs to be as long as those are good. It can be right against the center section with the windage and elevation adjustments if that's where it works best. It doesn't interfere with them at all. 👍

    move your mount forward. Your eye piece should be even with the charging handle.

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  7 месяцев назад +1

      The eyepiece should be wherever the eye relief is good for you.....

    • @bobmedic3214
      @bobmedic3214 7 месяцев назад +1

      That’s why you have a collapsible stock. You can do what you want but an AR 15 isn’t like a regular hunting rifle. Watch Jerry Miculak video. He explains it well. Also is a better shooter than either of us.

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  7 месяцев назад

      @bobmedic3214 exactly, anyone can do it how you want... The collapsible stock is for length of pull, not eye relief. Set the stock where you would normally shoot the gun then set the scope for eye relief
