Fun fact: after you defeat the clown, zombies do start spawning more in that particular area since the noise was driving them away
Wouldn't zombies be attracted to noise?
@@seanibarra-loredo7290 He does say that if the ride stops, the zombies come, so it does do something to keep the zombies away
Normally, but this is DR, a game franchise that has a habit of making tropes to other zombie media
@@JoaoLucasK I think it's cause, because the ride is constantly moving, the zombies on ground floor will constantly chase it, and due to their slow lumbering pace and lack of intelligence, they'll never catch up to it and won't know where the ride stops.
So yea, they're trapped in a loophole I guess.
Then when you beat Adam and the ride stops, the zombies realize oh shit either people are getting on or getting off.
@@Smiley0.1 i thought it was because they get mowed down by the ride so they avoid it
So the Psychopaths (The Clown, Cop Lady, Sniper Family, Store Clerk, and Convicts) are one of the more iconic parts of the Dead Rising series. They're basically the boss fights of the game, though most of them are optional.
Most of them are so screwed up because of them either having issues before the zombies came and just see it as an excuse to exercise their screwed up fantasies like the cop lady, or they witnessed some pretty traumatic stuff because of the zombies that just sent them into a sudden prolonged state of mania like the clown. They've always been one of my absolute favorite things in the series though for sure.
They were definitely memorable 😳 weird the the boss fights in the game are somewhat optional 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames A big reason why they are optional is because Dead Rising operates on a very strict schedule. When the game starts, your three day countdown begins. Most psychopaths appear in specific areas at specific times, and since the mall is large and most of it is open to explore right off the bat, there is a big chance you'll completely miss some psychos depending on what you explore and when.
This also ties into saving civilians who also adhere to their own schedules within those three days, and the ending you work toward because of course this game has multiple different endings.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames don't know if you've seen this in another comment, but the story in the game is optional to be fair.
As the game works on a timer Frank can be late to a mission and the rest of the story will be lost, the game even offers if you want to continue the remainder of the 72 hours, load a save or restart with your current level
That grocery clerk wasn’t even aware of the zombies, he was just understaffed😂
🤣
"THIS IS MY STORE" has lived in my head rent free since I first played this in 2008
4:22 The way he was laughing at this part, it’s almost as if he was shutting down like a machine or a robot
PSYCHOPATHS TIMESTAMPS:
Adam MacIntyre - 1:55
Convicts - 4:33
Carlito Keyes - 8:16
Steven Chapman - 12:01 (11:41 for location immersion)
Isabella Keyes - 19:34
Jo Slade - 22:53
The Hall Family - 26:47
Otis is the old janitor guy who welded the door when Frank first met Brad and Jessie.
Ed DeLuca is the helicopter guy.
yea Otis doesn't show up in cutscenes beside the one of him sealing the door. You talk to him mostly in gameplay.
😎👍🙂
The psycho bosses are a stable of the Dead Rising Franchise. Some people you feel bad for, some people you don't. They all have just snapped.
It’s a nice element to the game for sure. Even if it can be disturbing 😳 🫣
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Oh yeah. The psychopaths are way more scary than any zombie in the game, for sure.
That's an M2 50 cal. He would not be able to fire that weapon unmounted.
Love how the store owner had to get one more yell out before finally dying, lol.
Plus I literally said the same thing that Bethany said about the guy giving himself a heart attack at the same time she said it in the video 🤣🤣
😂🤗 great minds 😉
there aint no way frank can hold a .50cal like that lol. but as far as the psychos are concerned they are regular ppl that went crazy. it is one of those kill ppl before they kill you first thing, being in a zombie apocalypse. its deff not a resistance thing. The music in this game series is really metal and rock. love it.
Music is fun for sure in the game 😎🤟
Adam MacIntyre is the most iconic Dead Rising Psychopath. Frank's theme in MVC3 is Adam's theme.
Wait, who’s Adam again?
The Clown?
@@HB-fq9nn Yeah.
And I credit the voice actor for that feat. He really took the whole "unhinged clown" concept and knocked it out of the park. Like, I genuinely think that perforce, while over the top, is nearly comparable to other kings of this character archtype like Mark Hamill's Joker and Pennywise.
Loved the horrified looks on your faces with the clown 😂
When I first played this as a kid it really made me dislike clowns more.
Yup. Clowns are freaky 🤡 😳
It is amazing the sheer scope of different forms of unsettling/disturbing that Dead Rising's psychopaths embody. Under normal circumstances, games like this would have all the psychos be similar to the clown or more likely cannibals. Which is unsettling, but only at first.
Dead Rising's biggest strength is the unpredictability. Literally anyone and everyone can be a psycho, each for their own reasons and each with their own approaches. It really feels like no two psychopaths are the same because of this.
No matter who you are, at least one psycho will genuinely disturb you deep down, and that one disturbing psycho is going to vary from person to person. Such a great game for having such an approach to horror that aims to set it apart from other zombie scenarios.
Well said. 🙂
Yeah and for all three games, the psychopaths are all unique
The sniper dad is the voice of Spike from the Cowboy Bebop anime. He is really popular
I knew it!!
If you guys are planning on viewing the hole Series I'd like to remind about a couple Dead Rising 2 side games you should watch before and after the main game if you want the whole story. Those being Dead Rising 2: Case 0, which is a prequel that sets up DR2. Then there's Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, which is a Non-Cannon version of the DR2 story that stars Frank instead of Chuck and should be viewed after the original. And finally there's Dead Rising 2: Case West, which is an epilogue to DR2.
Thanks for letting us know about the side games and where they fit in the series 🙂
Yes. Glad to see more Dead Rising goodness.
😎🤟🥳
Yep! Dead Rising has had a lot of psychopaths in its franchise, but none of them hold even a candle to Adam the Clown. I found his story one of the saddest since he prolly saw a bunch of children and entire families get eaten by zombies. That would break pretty much anyone. And with all the tricks up his sleeve, including juggling chainsaws, he was one hell of a clown
Yeah he is both freaky for being a scary clown and sad for what he has gone through 😢
30:50 When I first saw Dead Rising in 2006 that was my original theory.
The Psychopaths being humans but infected zombie-like without being zombies (especially with one of the bosses you hadn't encountered yet)..
Closest thing to that was Calder from DR4.
Great minds 😉
Fun fact: Adam the clown is one of the hardest bosses in the game, especially when you are low level, and his mini chainsaw has one of the highest dps in the game.
Adam the Clown is my favorite psycho in the series. Gave me nightmares 😂
Yup 🤡😨
adam terrified me as a kid, his death gave me nightmares all the reason to make him my favorite psychopath.
The bosses also intersect with all the other folks you will meet, setting up an interlocking set of events if you want to experience everything available. Escorting folks is an absolute mess, however, you will be using up your good finds saving them.
That’s a cool element to the game. Makes it feel more real 😯😀
these psychopaths were always super difficult to kill, and with their crazy cutscenes they sure left great impressions
Adam the Clown is voiced by John Kassir, who played the Crypt Keeper from Tales from the Crypt.
i can see why psychopaths are like that...
the zombie apocalypse probably gave them an excuse to let loose all that pent up anger n so on.
I love a psychopath boss from dead rising
They are definitely something that sticks out in the game 😨😝
"Clean Up! Register 6" always gets me.
The wackiest group of baddies are the raincoat cultists. Green goblin-lookin nerds huddled up in the movie theater.
as someone who’s done a lot of writing about social commentary/politics in video games, i gotta agree with bethany! even though dead rising is pretty heavy-handed with its delivery, i love that it went for a bunch of different issues and had interesting takes on them. it’s a credit to the developers that even if they’re all caricatures, they’re still kinda believable in their own way.
and i agree that the mall cop is scariest to me. something about the gleeful abuse of power hits a little too close to home 😬
Glad you agree! And yes the cop was too sadistic for us 😨🫣
You can tell its old because the mall has every space with a store in it. When i go to my local mall about half of the store spaces are closed down with advertisements to rent the space. Also the food court has like 12 spots for food but only 5 open
Yeah. Sad times for malls. 😢
yo that fuckin clerk is insane. 😂
Yup 😳😨
Ghost Trick seems like a Halloween themed game...well in one aspect anyway.
The psychopaths of the dead rising series are a staple granted dead rising 1 and 3 kinda take them either not seriously enough or way over the top but dead rising 2 blends them to in my opinion at least their most believable form , granted they still are absolutely crazy and do weird things almost every boss in dead rising 2 is sympathetic....almost, not all
17:59 When I did a playthrough of this game (Part 7) this cutscene glitched so it was just the woman's eyes, mouth, stretched hair & nose when she opened the door. Freaky af.
Yeah that would be scary 😧
case zero of dead rising 2 is the prequel to dead rising 2 its cutscenes are only 20 mins and a must watch great for part 1 of your journey, dead rising 2 is also by far the best of the series and has the most comprehensive story thanks again for watching these cutscenes!
Thanks for letting us know about the prequel 🙂
Adam and Cliff is my Psycho Favorite
Dead Rising. The game where it’s okay to have psycho favorites 😁
I highly recommend reacting to the trailers, cutscenes, and bosses from the Transformers games, War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, and Devastation, all great stuff.
I can believe people can go crazy in a week, especially at the beginning of the outbreak, people in real life prepare for zombie outbreaks or the end of the world, so when the dead rise again a lot of people are gonna believe they are in the end times therefore are more unhinged if you believe its the end you have no reason to hold back who you are at that point.
That’s a good point. 😯
loving the dead rising 1 reactions! my fav franchise
Happy to hear 😀🥳🤗
I had to agree about the clown guy. Pennywise is a real creep but the one shows in the story is much worse. I’d be freaked if it really was in the movie.
And OH GOD THE COVINCTS! There's a glitch that's still unpatched in the remastered version where they respawn one more time. Their theme is one of the best, _Lifeseeker - Gone Guru,_ same with Steven's theme _Hostile Groove - Fly Routine_ and Jo Slade's _Supernova Syndicate - Heavins Creepin In._
Love these videos guys keep at it🤩🤩🤩
Happy to hear 😀
The convicts were always my favorite because if the song that plays. Gone guru by lifeseeker. Also seein them get stuck is always funny. Fun fact if you take certain pictures, you get different genres based on what it shows. Such as commedy or even erotica lol also Steven the grocery store guy. His cart is what Frank uses in marvel vs capcom 3 during one of his super moves.
So the Zombie outbreak doesn't really get specified as to when it occured. It's just been been long enough that people haven't been completely wiped out and the more dangerous individuals lost their minds. And also that the military had enough time to cover the whole thing up and put Willamette under quarantine. The story focuses more on what's happening now, what caused it to all happen, and how it will end.
Now for the Psychopaths. They along with the weapons, are a huge part to Dead Rising's charm. Just seeing how each of them either take advantage of the chaos to fulfill their sick pleasures, cope with it in the worst way possible, or just lose their goddamn minds. You don't actually have to fight them as only a few are mandatory. But the benefits killing them, the fun of actually fighting them, and getting their weapon is more than worth it. And the weapons respawn when you use it all up and come back to the area it's in.
Some characters are more iconic than others, as you probably have the "Adam the Clown" in your heads still. His introduction and his death are one of the most iconic parts of the 1st Dead Rising. Even his music was so loved that it was used as Frank West's theme in "Marvel vs Capcom 3".
And to top it all off! His weapon is called the Small Chainsaw. (There are regular chainsaws you can find, but they're 2 handed, can't be put in your inventory, and durably 4x weaker than it's counterpart.) The Small Chainsaw is considered one of the BEST weapons you can get in the game. It has a fast swing speed, it can 1-hit kill zombies like nothing, and can put down most Psychopaths in 4-8 swings! It only lasts for 80 hits, but another mechanic in Dead rising are "Magazines" (the paper kind) which can increase your abilities or even weapons, but they do take up inventory and only stack up to 3. Meaning a triple powered Small Chainsaw can last 2,160 hits!
Thanks for going into the gameplay a little more with us. Good tips to know because we may play this (not right away) but we’ve heard the gameplay is a lot of fun 🙂
I DON'T ALLOW VANDALISM IN MY STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE
More Dead Rising goodness, love it. Best psychopath Adam MacIntyre
Send in the clowns 🤡
5:39 Dang, Frank leveled up into Master Chief, apparently.
😎💪
This was so much fun to watch, I'm already looking forward to the next part, by the way, could I ask you some questions? btw greetings from Mexico
You guys should react to all psychopath cutscenes in each dead rising game that would be awesome
MY STORE love that guy
Y'all finally got to see the bosses of the game. The PSYCHOPATHS. If you're questioning why people are so unhinged like this after just a day or so of zombie madness, there's an old philosophy in a zombie outbreak. The only thing more dangerous than the zombies are the people who survive it. Alot can snap in a person's mind when the people witness their loved ones being eaten and society crumbling around them. The devs recognize this and play really well but still find the time to parody it in some ways by making people obsessed with certain aspects of their normal lives before the outbreak in an extreme degree.
True. Watching horrors unfold right in front of you would make most people snap 🫣😨
You guys should get this series caught up and play dead rising 4 in December. It’s kind of a throwback to the first dead rising with some of the game taking place in the mall but during Christmas time and snow! That would be perfect… oh and franks character is even better in 4
The bosses of this game, the Psychopaths, are one of the most iconic features of the series. They are survivors who have been lose their mind by what they have suffered during the zombie outbreak (or were already unestable before). It is a way to have more variety of enemies than the generic zombie horde.
Each one of them is extremely unique and memorable because of their exaggerated personality. Some are tragic some are pure WTF. It is part of the satire of the Dead Rising story.
Defeating psychopaths and rescuing survivors are the main ways to level up in Dead Rising and with the time limit for doing the main quests the time available to do so is between the end of one story mission and the start of the next. There never seems to be time for everything.
As time progresses more survivors and psychopaths appear and if you are not fast the side quests accumulate and it is impossible to do them all, some side quests also have their own time limit which adds more pressure.
Sounds intense with all the time limits 😳
Ah Best of Dead Rising villains psychopaths ever made my favorites Adam Maclntyre and Steven Chapman most perfection!
Btw Santa Cabeza translates to Holy Head. XD
24:50 This is why I'm looking forward to their reactions to the rest of the Psycho Boss Battles lol I hope they react to the other Dead Rising games too!
Still wished they added a Pest Exterminator as a boss.
Side note, how tf did the uploader make Aaron survive that long lol
Man it's been so freaking long since I placed that game but I vividly remember that store owner boss fight :D
Some game fights just stick with you 🤗
It’s hinted that the outbreak had been going for a while. We saw the worst of it in the prologue with the burning buildings before the truck crashed into that mother’s car. The man who confirmed they were zombies at the barricade mentioned there had been more since the night previously.
I’ll use Resident Evil as an example. Raccoon City, home to 100,000, was infected on the 24th Sept 1998. By the 28th, most people were dead. Cause if infection was in the water.
Willamette is half that size at 53,594. It’s a bit more rural, so that could have had a factor in the outbreak spreading a little slower. We also need to consider what this people witnessed during the initial outbreak that led to them snapping. Adam (the clown) saw his audience eaten, that’s why he snapped, for example.
Thanks for helping us out with the timeline. And very true that witnessing horror could make you snap quickly 😨
i forgot, i love the deaths with the bosses in this game LMAO
😂 dark 😜
All these bosses are consider to be Psychopath, literally.
All of them were sane people until the zombie came and break their way of life, most of them want their old life back.
Adam the Clown is the most Iconic boss of the game series, so much that he even has a costume pack in Dead Rising 4. And special clown boss who's related to him as his cousin in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.
Psychopaths are big part of Dead Rising series, as they are mostly bosses. But then Dead Rising 4 stop giving them cutscenes and they are less...scary.
One of the many mistakes Dead Rising 4 made we assume given how widely hated it is 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames That is one reason. Another is that the storyline of the series was wrapped up nicely at the end of the 3rd game so the 4th didn't really need to happen. DR4's story is also pretty messy and kinda awful.
Ah Adam the clown the first psychopath boss you meet with many more on the way god love the music for each psychopath although one psychopath makes me sad to kill when you find out why and what happened to him
Your actually right on the psychopath going crazy the was actually how the game director wanted them
You can save Thomas it’s kinda difficult to do it
I don’t recall being able to save Thomas. Because no matter what he’s hostile towards you
The clowns chainsaw is the best weapons in the game
Only two psychopaths missing in that video was the gun store owner and Clint which is a shame because of all the psychopaths he has the best story.
I'm glad I'm not high for this.
Is it just me, or does Brad look like a buff version of Louis from Left 4 Dead?
🧐
Every Psychopath tells a story within their action and overall persona, not to mention after you defeat them, you can bring back survivors after every encounter (it’s a pain sometimes)
I love this game, it’s one of the 1st Xbox360 games I ever had, The supermarket is great because it gives you the most powerful heal-ups in one room especially “Orange Juice” in Dead Rising 2 stuff like Wine and other alcohol beverages (you’ll understand why in the future) are common and very helpful than it was in the 1st game
Convicts (the 3 guys in the gunned Jeep) - I just wanna say that the convicts are not that easy to beat because they spawn multiple times and the survivors you help rescue are very slow and sometimes you have to even carry them (they traumatized every player known to man that’s play this game)
Adam (the clown) used the chainsaws against the zombies after goin insane of seeing his customers(kids and their parents) get eaten, the more he killed the more he laughed
Jo Slade - is a corrupt mall cop that was always jealous of the young girls (but fantasize about dominating them before the outbreak) she used her badge in order to claim that she’ll protect them but then captures and tortures the girls, she attacked two guys that tried to save a room full of girls before frank showed up and the weird groans at the end is because she had an orgasm before she died of her injuries (caused a heart attack)
The Hall Family (sniper family) - the sons are force to do their fathers biding attacking anything standing, Their dad is a firm believer in a twisted interpretation of the Second Amendment, they’re attacking anything that moves from that entire section of the mall since a lot of survival/camp stuff is located there (hench why they have hunting gear on)
Steven Chapman (The Shopmarket boss) - he turns crazy after his employees left him for dead when the outbreak started, he has OCD and was too scared to leave the market, he chased people away with chart after using it to kill zombies then cleaned the store over and over again making his OCD even worse.
Carlito - is insane and he’s doing everything out of his “own way of Justice” he didn’t mean to shoot Isabelle but he’s been extremely angry and trigger happy due to Brad and Franks inference with his plans throughout the mall, carlito loves his sister, but her trying to talk him down after he got shot by Brad was obviously a bad move even tho she had a right to be concerned.
I love these reaction and love hearing your thoughts, just know that it’s a freak-ton of social commentary throughout the series DR1 - DR3 (DR4 doesn’t count because that game removed everything that’s great about dead rising)
We definitely start getting into that social commentary in the last half of the game 🙂
Please react to more from this game and its sequels, id like to see your reaction to other equally memorable psychopaths
don't worry, you will get to see all the psychopath bosses through out the series.
😎👍🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames i can't wait for you to see Dead Rising 2
I mean, maybe not too much of a stretch that zombies being real and overrunning ones town would cause ones sanity to snap quite quickly, especially if one was already mentally unstable to begin with. Definitely something one needs to just roll with, I suppose. Regardless, the Psychopaths are part of the identity of this game/series, wouldn't be the same without them. Loved this reaction, can't wait for more Dead Rising next week! You should most definitely continue with this series. Hell, you almost need to now!😁 (Though maybe stop after 3, 4 is a bit of a travesty.) Cheers, oh lovable goofballs!!!
Oh yeah, we’ve heard 4 was pretty bad. Most saying it doesn’t even exist 😂
You guys need to watch the new blizzard kiriko short! It’s sooooo good
We will 😁
great reaction you guys should react to all of the dead rising psychopaths from the games there some good ones ^_^
I hope y'all do every DR game. 2 is my absolute favorite. The music is awesome as well
You should react to the DR2 cutscenes next. The bosses are even more ridiculous in that game.
I hate Jo, not because she’s hard but because we have to escort her hostages and every player knows how horrendous the ai is
Exactly! I got PTSD bruh escorting them. And the cultist was just right outside Jo territory. Some survivor even start crawling. But for some reason after I restart the game with my current status, when I save Jo hostages, I wanted to take a look outside Jo territory to see for any cultist and surprisingly, they did not appear. Luck I guess
Are you guys going to do dead rising 3 cutscenes react ?
Been looking forward to this one convicts always scared me bk on xbox 360 once there cool music til i learnt shotgun can deal with them issabella was my favourite in this game ... the clown was always my favourite psychopath he reminded me of pennywise .. that cop woman death was so werid to
Pennywise will alway make clowns terrifying for us 🤡🫣
They need to remaster this with the blood and flesh system and the graphics from RE4
Not sure if you guys know this but there’s a new overwatch cinematic for kiriko and it’s 🔥
We will be posting our reaction this week 😁
I should have said this in the last video but I highly recommend playing the games rather then watching the cut scenes alone. Especially 2, Off The Record, and 3
Psychopaths are an interesting set of characters, some are tragic, some are just straight up evil, and some are trying to stay 'sane' but have gone insane trying to do so. Dead Rising is overall goofy but damn are psychopaths just... colorful like they help make the game just more. Also fun fact, Psychopath weapons are among the strongest in the games, in Dead Rising 1 Adam's chainsaws are just stupidly strong as you saw with the escaped convicts that weapon alone makes and breaks the game.
Yeah we see the player using that chainsaw for everything. Looks fun in the game to just mow down zombies 😎🤟
You should react to dead rising 2 psychopaths and off the record too.
The ending of the game depends on the number of survivors that you save.
and whether you followed the main story, or how far.
It will be interesting seeing the ending of the game on this playthrough versus what others had 🤔
you guys should really do an all psychopath reaction as to not miss any as many people have different playthrough’s of the game and you could miss most
and you could also do all psychopaths from the other games too😁
Hmm. Hopefully they included most of not all of them in this playthrough but we will see. There are a few more to come 🤗
You guys should definitely check out the game Onimusha.
It’s the same creators of resident evil devil may cry and dead rising. Pretty much imagine resident evil with more action set in feudal Japan. highly recommend the subtitles instead of the dub.
This is funny!
😜
Gotta love Japanese theatrical acting in horror games. Makes for a zany good time. I think one of the clocktower games did the same thing with their motion capture, almost turned the game into a Charlie Chaplain skit. 10/10 would recommend.
But no, most of the psychopaths don't make much sense logically. Zombie outbreak can't be more than days old and it's only confined to the town really. This isn't an end of the world type game. But I guess psychopaths isn't really an appropriate term for most of the bosses. They're just using it as a caught all. That and this entire game doesn't make sense logically but eh, it's entertaining.
every protagonist or ally in this game is beyond stupid 😂 but I always think that's just how the devs wanted the characters to be.
Yup 😆
Nice!
🥳🥳
There's a game called Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City you should react to it's about Umbrella operatives going in the city trying to erase their involvement
You should react to Gurdsmen
Dead rising 2 next
I think you guys missed a couple of psycho bosses. Nice reaction though! Love this game!
Nah, Gamer's Playground missed them (no Cliff, Kent, Sean or Brad's death in that video).
After we do the journey we will see which ones we missed and check those out in another vid 🙂
I really like your theory about the psychos and I really want that to be true because it would make a whole lot of sense when you get later into the games but sadly no please do the other games or at least watch all the cutscenes that involve the Psychopaths
The reaction here is a meme material 24:50
Gameplay is cool!
😎🤟🤩
This kinda tries to be serious in the cutscenes, but it misses the running around in a Megaman Helmet and a sun dress, hitting zombies with an umbrella that makes up half the game. You can put on any outfit and smack people with anything you can pick up.
Also the "desperately trying to rescue all the survivors that you have a very limited time to reach before they die," part isn't really shown in just cutscenes either.
The games juxta position of it's goofy gameplay and things you can do.
With the rawness and horror of the psychopats.
The drama and plight of the survivors and victims
And the constant time and leveling up pressure.
It's not for everyone but it's one hell of a unique experience.
Dead rising 2 did a lot to make the game more pallatable and acessible (save slots, better survivor AI). But if you've gone through Dead rising 1 at the time, it's a game that will stick with you for a bunch of reasons.
Haha, some games you just have to experience and this seems like one of them. Maybe we will go back and play it ourselves since the outcome and story can be different 🙂
