Cons are growing too fast because not nearly enough volunteers are stepping up to help out. There's still the unfortunate lag factor from the pandemic so it's pretty pronounced now with the colossal growth taking place. Longest I ever waited in reg was around 7 hours. On a more personal note it's more expensive than ever to even attend a con in the first place; I can't see a lot of perks to attending extremely large conventions when I can get the same excitement at smaller cons for a fraction of the cost, at least where I live anyway 😅I've been attending conventions since 2017 and the euphoria just isn't there like it used to be. I had a lot of issues at FWA this year. *No one* knew where anything was and I never found the headless lounge!
I get a lot of that frustration with big cons MFF was also very overwhelming when i was there since it was my very first big one with the cost also again i get that especially since we Europeans have these extremely expensive flight due to the war in Ukraine 😅 still i hope in the future things will get better and i really hope you enjoyed the vid stormy thanks so much for watching ^^
I fully agree with you, Melly! More people almost always mean higher risk of dangerous situations and there should be a cap. It's so nice to see those cons grow, but safety should always be a top priority 😊
Exactly how I feel about larger cons these days. The euphoria is just.. gone. I'm not fond of saving $3k for a con trip only to see friends for a whopping 5 seconds before we get caught up in lines extending for quarter miles or longer. I can get the same excitement at smaller conventions or even friend road trips for a fraction of the cost and stress lol
nice video i subbed ^^ as a con goer myself i agree some cons defenitly need a cap because its hell finding a hotel spot if the con too large and gets quite crampt in venues and dealers dens for example
Hope it gets better with overcrowded areas in the future and thanks for watching and staying on the channel! Hope to see ya pop up again in the future :3
I think most of the cons handle there Organization pretty well. Iam part of an Organization team by myself and i can tell that you cant handle everything. Especially on a Furry Convention. You hope that everybody is having a good time at the end but that not always possible. Still Melly love your Content its an Interesting Topic to talk and discuss about Much love❤
Anthrocon’s attendance this year I knew there would be over 15k I kept saying it a month before the con was gonna happen cause I just knew, but over 17k?! That’s insane! Even uncle Kage who’s been the chairman for 26 years at AC now, commented about how there’s no room in the dealers den, the super long lines, also the hotels have talked to him about getting more rooms next year, cons are seriously growing by the thousands now, no longer by the hundreds. If the attendance breaks the 20k barrier at AC in 2025 they should have triple the security around the con, around the hotels, around everywhere! To ensure everyone is safe, but on a side note the fursuiter/youtuber tilt longtail he made a video a couple years ago, saying how after going to furry conventions after 17 years, they’ve become too expensive, too crazy, and you guessed it, TOO BIG! And thus he stopped going for good. This is another reason why I would rather go to a little furmeet in the future than somewhere like anthrocon all those people I feel it would kinda take the fun away cause the place is so packed! For one the fandom growing in numbers like this is something I’ve wanted for the whole world to see what us furries truly do, but on the other paw, it’s a blessing and a curse I’m sorry to say it but i say what i feel in my heart. I’ve also been saying this for a couple years now, at this point there honestly gonna have to make the David L Lawrence convention center 2 stories high, I know that would easily take millions of dollars and probably would be extremely difficult to do but imo if you want AC to continue for another 5-10 years it’s gonna have to be done, or something like that because at this rate stuffs getting cramped.💖
i absolutely agree that it is too big tho i would like to continue to go to cons then smaller furmeets cons are fine as long as the attendence number does not skyrocket like anthrocon or Midwest furfest
@@mellydawg yeah I’m the same way, AC broke lots of records this year, one of them not just being not the attendance but how many new stations there was there and yes there was one speaking to furries in line talking about how the lines wrapped almost all the way around the block and back. I love seeing the fandom grow but deep down this would have a cost or many and it’s showing.
@@mellydawgThe owner of the David L Lawrence Convention center should probably add another floor to accommodate more people as well as adding more registration rooms and exits.
Personally I think cons should not have caps, as the community is growing quite rapidly. However I think they need more safety precautions to prevent these incidents.
Ryuuky : She/Her : fursona; Fennec Fox : XtF : DemiGirl I've never had the chance to go, and always hear how bad people treat the Furry Community. Also, some furries treat the hotel rooms to dirty diapers. I for one hope they do have people behave.
Crazy big wow. Tbh I will probably never attempt a massive convention like this would simply not fell well there. And that Sword guy Jesus don't even know what to say about that shit.
Yeah big crowds and cons can be overwhelming i understand that and yeah 😬 like i said in the video hopefully that guy is banned for all future cons lol thanks for watching btw!!!
So there are idiots at every kind of convention/gathering and with sizes getting larger, the odds just increase that theres at least one that takes it too far, that's just mathematics. the sword story is however a bit different: the incident did not happen at con space but at a hotel room, with convention goers that was also downtown. So Anthrocon directly has nothing to do with that.
Love this video i,agreed with all the points you make how do you even get a sword in and how do you get on the roof the fandom should be a safe place for people i think they should sell tickets and ince there sold out thats it amazing video keep up the amazing work see you in the next video
The sword incident had some incorrect details. It was a plastic sword, not a real one. Enough to cause some injury but not serious. Also it wasn't at the con, it was in someones hotel room near the con.
anthrocon is not free the admission should be at around 80 to 100 dollars for the whole con but that of course does not include hotel cost food travel cost etz etz
Honestly, if you were at the con you probably didn't even know about these incidents. Just don't go looking for them on social media and you'll have an amazing time.
I know i did mention that lots of poeple 100% had an awesome time and that this stuff shouldn't bring one down but even if i attended didn't know anything about that and read it at home I'd still ask myself the question i did ask in the video ^^
The problems you explain have nothing to do with size of the conventions. Many smaller conventions and I say all conventions not just furry have the same problems. To give some perspective, my local Comic-Con, Rose City comic Con, has over 50,000 people maybe more than 70,000 attendees. New York Comic-Con had over 200,000 attendees.
While you are partially right the amount of poeple still plays a part in it smaller furcons I've been to usualy really don't have anything like this going on and the reg line is also something that is due to the overflow of poeple i still appreciate your comment tho and also know you're right in some perspectives :) thx for watching

Absolutely!
How would someone get on the roof in the first place
Idk absolutely crazy
The line was like when an Apple Store starts selling a new iPhone 😭
I think they should offer free passes for all volunteers, that would incentivize more to volunteer and thus shorter lines
I think its the same like with concerts and festivals. At some point there is just no close feeling of community anymore , so whats the point.
@@kleoonyoutube true i hope you'll come back to watch the video :3 thanks for the comment already tho

Yes, cons should continue to grow. Furries know how to solve problems and I have confidence the AC staff with implement solutions next year.
I really hope your right thanks for watching eigen
