Queens can't hide in those little mating nucs. Have a good week and stay cool.

That third mini mating nuc with the one tiny comb looked like laying worker to me. If they had a queen they would have been more motivated to build comb. The brood looked like laying worker drone brood.

Congrats on the new queens! These mating nucs are so small. I'd be terrified of missing 1 day and have the queen swarm on me >.

Those dang beetles are hitting hard right now, bees are robbing, and been pulling honey, it’s a busy time in the bee yard, and it’s hot!!!!!!. Thanks for watching DC .

Great Video! So my question is! When do you pull the queen do you take the bees also? Or do you candy cage her and put her in your spilts? I really like the mini idea here! But I'm guessing they have to be in the shade our Louisiana heat is a killer

Yes , i use them for my splits and nucs I sell, and I do keep them in afternoon shade.

    Tip :
Take the outer Frame (Honey) out first ! Then you have room to check the Central Frame for the Queen etc. Better to do slow movements too.
Basic Beekeeping : with more Room to Move Frames about, your less likely to 'Roll' (Mash & Kill) the Queen.
    . . . Just saying ! 🙄

Nice video, interesting, I thought you were joking when you said you couldn't find the queen in the 2nd box, she is a big orange one that stands out like a sore thumb on the first frame you took out - stop it at 4.45 and you will see her, of course trying to film and work the boxes at the same time does make it a little more difficult to see everything.

My pro nuc’s melted down in the sun. Definitely need shade and under 100 degrees. I saw a huge dragonfly that was black with yellow bands and specks. I was going to kill it when I noticed it was eating a bee. Didn’t look like a queen tho. Never see dragonfly’s around here.

You right I have to keep my pro nucs where they get shade in heat of the day or the bees will abscond. We have a lot of dragon flys at my location, gets very hard to get queens back in august because the population is so high. Thanks for watching have a bless day.
