I wonder why they offer a stage one cam in this instance since the stage two made the same low speed power and more top end. Gen V motors are impressive.
My version of a gen III 5.3 to be sorta comparable to the Gen 5 is to make it a 347, raise the compression to 10.4, improve the quench, a BTR stage 1 truck cam, 706 heads with 2" intakes, proper valve job, some minor valve unshrouding, porting and thermal barrier coated valves, TBSS intake, Long tube headers, 6.2L sized exhaust & cats behind the headers. Daily driver Tahoe. Waiting on the heads and machine work now.
VVT allows the increase in power at the top with maintaining the low rpm torque. Now we just need variable intake runner length as the hemi has now for even better numbers.
Stage 2 cam for me. No torque loss down to 2500 rpm. The Gen V's are so good, you should hunt down an LV3 and test it against an old 4.8. Then do a Big Bang Turbo test with it to see how the split pin crank does. I bet you can't break it.
Richard I love your videos. I have been able to sort of interpolate my 6.0L build by paying attention to the multitude of LS tests. They have also given me ideas for my driver, (4.8L LS jeep).

Richard, watching your video it seems as though you (and myself quite frankly) did NOT use cam phaser lockouts as.you very clearly took full advantage of the VVT, as shown by that fat and flat TQ curve. Now im looking at Texas Speed and BTR for cams to upgrade my L83, and TSP in particular seems to strongly suggest using a cam phaser lockout kit with a cam upgrade. Whats your opinion
I am in the middle of this swap and i got ahold of a Lt1 intake manifold. I mainly used it for clearance issues. I wonder what kind of gain/loss would happen with a stock LT1 intake manifold and a BTR Stage 1-3 cam. I am really glad you are doing dyno videos on these engines because it helps ease my mind about the engine choice I have.
Tbh you're better off running the l86 manifold and a 95mm tb just port both and you gain extra 20 hp way cheaper and a direct fit than going from a lt1 or lt5 manifold unless you're going boosted and if you are better off running the holley hi ram
I have watched all your videos. This one was good, it was just missing the cam specs. One brand’s stage one is another brand’s stage two or three. Intake duration number would help.

If adding a turbo, upgrading pistons, rods, cam, lifters, head ported holley efi should i go with the full delete of everything and ls7 port injection? Or holley offers efi with vvt control do you think it could make a more consistent power band for the 1/8 if i leave the vvt?
Jesus, stock with a tune, exhaust and some tuning and it's putting more power down than the ls2 when those came out. Add a S4 cam its hitting close to a LS7. This is insane.
The guys at BTR not have an LT2 intake? Watched a couple videos where they make more power than an MSD gen5 intake up to 6000rpm and more peak power and torque on a stock 2019 camaro. They need a tiny bit of work to work but are $1000 less than the MSD intake. The Map sensor needs extended and brake vacuum port and valley vent are issues, but it will work with your super sneaky cowl induction.
Suggestions for cam? I plan on AFM delete so I'll need to replace cam anyways. Vehicle will otherwise remain stock. It's my daily. Looking for reliability. Right now truck is quieter than my V6 camry

So what about my L82 in my 2020 Silverado Trail Boss? I'm liking the L86 intake and throttle body but I don't know about the compatibility. From what I can tell my L82 does not have dynamic fuel management but does have active fuel management. It's also not E85 compatible I don't think. Any ideas?
@@reyperez3424 I had an lq4 in my other truck and ran the BTR stage 3 truck cam and had it dyno tuned. I just miss that extra power and have a hard time leaving my vehicles stock.

It’s hilarious to me that a stock 20 year old ls6 makes the same power as an optimized brand new 5.3 with all its tech...and it would make even more on the Dyno. The only thing it has over the 5.3 is a mere .4 more liters.

These new direct injection 5.3 are great engines but can you do a video comparing them to the 6.2 or the LQ9 engines.
Just gapped my rings to 25. 87mm bore with magic valve events and pixie dust 🧚♀️. Waiting on the wrong camshafts and intake manifold.

Everyones higher power level engine has a short or medium runner intake. Variable runners are usually helping out smaller engines.

Popular mod to swap intake manifolds, but even after a stock cam upgrade the bigger manifold only added 7hp after 4K rpm? Hardly seems worth it.

Should have added the lt1 intake some ppl say it hurts the l83 and also try the c8 vette intake lt2 intake on the same cams
the short runner LT1 intake will hurt power down low compared to the l83

Centrifugal supercharger is the antithesis of area under the curve.
