I would say he's using his "telephone voice". Still sounds very Northern, but he's doing that semi-comic, pretentious thing, often subconsciously done by Lancastrians when trying to sound more august.
Series 2 is what made me an obsessed Whovian. Series 1 was phenomenal too but I was skeptical as a kid about the whole regeneration thing 'Would it be as good?' I soon realised how Ironic that question was. School Reunion is that bridge between old and new who that I needed as a Kid. Fantastic upload.
Tennant was my first with this season so I never experienced Regeneration at all in those four to five years of his era. But I did learn more about the show during that time and watched Classic Who and learned about how it was a staple of the show so I just accepted it. Until Tennant changed to Smith and I had that EXACT question because I loved Tennant so much and I’m glad I kept watching to this day.

We had Doctor Who and lucky enough to have two or three different spin off shows that expanded the amount of content we could watch. Between that and Classic Who on syndication that my Mom would record for me, I think there was no way I could have not loved this show. And School Reunion is still one of those episodes that I watch countless times and post 2011 makes it feel so bittersweet to know that episode was never the end of Sarah-Jane and her time on the show.

We had the Sarah Jane adventures for kids and not so much the whole family show and Then Torchwood for the adult audience and what I think gave Doctor who more respect among more mature viewers. 'Life will out! ...Ha!' What is lovely in David's first season is his wild, untrammelled joy at playing the Doctor. He's having the time of his life and it's just lovely to watch and so charming.

my favorite season with so much beautiful moments and emotions...."Get me back!" and "Rose Tyler..." gets me the most...i'm crying like a baby every time that i'm watching....once i was crying so bad, that my husband hugged me for couple of minutes (he's not hugging person) and after bring me tea with cookies...always breaks my heart...and also,, Sally's (the cyberman) death makes me feel so sorry and sad...every dramatic moments are great...Russell did incredible job💔
