What made this cover even more amazing was they not only had to overcome everyone's love for and familiarity with the perfect original, but to try to outplay some of the greatest studio musicians of the late 1970s/early 80s on every instrument. They killed it.
Jon Lampley (dude in the back) is a whole mood in these videos. I love how much they're all having. That's one of the million things I love about DL specifically: they always make it fun for themselves. Now that I've gotten more into CW and how he performs, he's the same way. When they enjoy what they're doing, it makes it that much more enjoyable for us.

Great reaction, and I hope you feel better soon! This was definitely a surprise for me, too; I saw it and my first thought was "This can't be a cover of *that* Thriller, right?" But once the opening noises started up, I knew we were in for a great time, and they definitely delivered. Shout-out to Cory Wong's brass section for continually elevating things every time, too!
I had a covid test yesterday, that was negative, and throughout the day today I definitely got better, just a little two day bug I guess.
I guess you notice he sings it first as MJ, and then he goes over to sing it as Stevie Wonder when he puts on the glasses 😄

They bring all their harmony-loops on the road with them, along with a second keyboardist so Jonah can go out front and move on the stage. They have been touring annually, for years now.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you looked like the song did improve the way you felt. Nice reaction and I think you said it best in your video caption " This is how you cover a classic." Amen to that. I've already listened to it five or six times and it just keeps getting better. Oh yeah, and I totally agree with what you said about the Loops getting to be the Loops in this one. Have you done any Jacob Collier? I'd recommend for sheer upbeat, musical exuberance "All Night Long." Diggin' what you're doin.
