    Band BIO:
Dirty Loops is a band from Stockholm, Sweden, made up of Jonah Nilsson (vocals and piano), Henrik Linder (bass) and Aron Mellergård (drums). Their arrangements are advanced stylistically, borrowing from jazz and jazz fusion, gospel, funk, electronica, pop, and disco. They are known for their jazz fusion reharmonized covers of pop songs like "Baby" by Justin Bieber, "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele, and "Wake Me Up" by Avicii. They also performed the 2016 rendition of the song "Over the Horizon" for Samsung Electronics.
    FUN FACTS about band:
-All three of the band's members studied music at Södra Latin together. Nilsson studied classical theory while Linder and Mellergårdh studied jazz.
-Henrik Linder began his music career as a pianist at the age of four and bass at the age of 13.
-Andreas Carlsson has helped the band to get a global record deal. In 2012, the band traveled to the U.S. to face several major music profiles, among others, singer Brian McKnight, drummer Simon Phillips and bassist Nathan East. Eventually, they signed a record contract with world-renowned producer and record label director David Foster and Universal Music subsidiary Verve

Well, that's a Dirty Loops cover for you. :D You need to check out their older covers of various songs as well, because they're all (at least in my opinion) miles above the originals. They are ridiculously brilliant. (Yes, I realise I sound like a complete fangirl, but they're so insanely competent that, as a fellow musician, how can I not?)

Okay...so...two things I read in other's comment sections on this: A - It's split screen w/ Cory and horns on one side and Dirty on the other, filmed separately. B - that Quincy Jones was somehow involved in its production. If either of those things are true (or both) then it just raises the bar on what they did. On its' stand-alone merits, it's incredible.

This is an *excellent* cover of Thriller, without a doubt. I'm not at all against people doing covers, whatsoever, and if anything, I appreciate seeing fellow creatives take something great on its own and not necessarily make it “better,” per se, but add their very own touch of uniqueness and creative energy to it.
However, lol, there are certain songs, and particularly ones from a select group of specific artists *[Michael being one of those artists]* that are profoundly cemented into music history, and whenever one decides to do a cover of one of those songs, they are taking a major gamble; it has to be done just right, for it can be so easy to not only lose the magic and essence of a song, whether by doing too much or doing too little, and that's the vaguest way of putting it lol, but it can also end up where the person covering the song is trying way too hard to mirror/copy the original artist “to a T,” so to speak, and end up sounding either and for lack of a better word, “corny” and sometimes teetering into a bit “disrespectful,” and I use the word “disrespectful” loosely, but I think most people will understand what I mean, lol.
It's funny that one of you said “it’s like MJ meets Stevie Wonder” because this arrangement, especially the bass, as soon as I heard it, reminded me of a mashup between Thriller and Higher Ground, lol.
    Chef’sKiss worthy, no doubt.

We agree with you 100% definitely gotta be careful when doing covers for classics like this one for sure. You've got to do it justice if you're going to attempt it. Which we feel this one definitely did. Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching ❤
