That was one of the best fights I've ever seen. Man I could literally feel Sakuras martial essence. Beautiful display of each character these players used. These championships really understand and can bring Sakuras and Karin's true power.
Rivals clashing, trading blows till the final round to decide all. Then, with a bust of passion, Sakura catches Karin off guard and releases all her might, taking home a well-deserved victory. This victory takes a moment for Karin to come to terms with... but is eventually respected. Perhaps what may one day bloom from this event... is a true friendship. That's my headcanon! But seriously, congrats to both players! They were amazing to watch!
This may be something of a hot take, but SFV is a surprisingly balanced game. I'm not saying there aren't tiers, but the distance between the best and worst characters in the game is much shorter than it has been in many 2D games past. I think that most--not all, but most--of the cast is capable of winning a major event, and we'll probably go all the way through the game's life without having seen many potential character wins because most pros are (understandably) committed to the meta. All that having been said, hats off to Nauman. You can see how much it meant to the kid, and it was great to see both him and Sakura win.

No. Tier lists don't exist because one character wins over another. Tier lists are representations of how many options one character has over another. In an actual match, these things come into play, but that's assuming equal skill between the players and that luck doesn't exist. However, luck is a HUGE factor. Mago lost because he was worse at guessing, not because his character wasn't as good. So you can ignore tier lists all you want, but that doesn't mean they are going to cease existing. And do you honestly think a Sakura is going to continue winning tournaments? Another factor to consider is that, the more popular a character is the more people will have experience playing against them. So when someone picks a character no one has experience against, the knowledge advantage shifts in favor of the low-tier competitor. Remember when Rangchu won with Panda in Tekken 7? That was because everyone was used to playing against Devil Jin and Drag, not a bear. Where is he and Panda now? Did everyone suddenly start picking and winning with Panda? If someone starts to consistently win with a low-tier, the other competitors are going to learn how to beat them, and it won't take as long because they're low-tier meaning they have less options to learn how to beat.
