I love that Daigo doesn't really give some lame ass excuse when he lose. He could've easily blamed that super that he accidentally did. But he didn't. He could've easily got salty with Sakura's walk speed but instead went to the lab and try to figure out how to counter it. That's a real pro right there. Unlike some real salty ass streamers out there...

Daigo gets beaten in one scenario, straight to the lab. Understands the interactions and comes up with solutions. Rinse and repeat. No whining or complaining. Truly an inspiration
Nauman is legit. He earned that shit. Been seeing folks downplay his victory by claiming luck/an easy bracket/that Sakura is secretly really strong... nah. My man won a stacked tournament with a mid tier at best character, hold that.
He is really legit but one thing that adds up is like nobody labs her. Even daigo went back to the lab to check her frame data.
Yet these pro old timers kept talking about tier and opting for strong characters for tournament instead of picking what they really enjoy playing. Take Daigo for an example, dude even regrets he didnt play Kage in evo jp.
Idom and Nauman are proofs that playing with characters that you love and suit your playstyle are things that matter the most in winning tournament. Plus, they can proudly say "I beat them regardless of tier, I play *MY* character"
@Amir Oz I agreed Nauman is legit. But, i don’t think Sakura is mid tier this season. I say she’s Top 10 with all those buffs. She got the best walkspeed in the game, good poke, good corner carry, and nice damage.

I don't follow Street Fighter religiously, but one thing I like about Daigo is his attitude. He doesn't pop off, lose his cool, or ever get insulting; at least not that I've seen.

Sakura's LK also has (probably) the longest range in the game. It's nice to see Nauman utilize that in neutrals.
When i was watching this vid, i was surprised how she able to grab in that distance, its looks like a kara-grab in sf4.

Guile is stronger and fits well with daigo's passive playstile, but its definitly more fun to watch him play Kage

I guess that's what separates us mere mortals to the gods of fight games. Most of us would lose a fight, chalk it up as a loss and move on to the next game. Top level players like Diago would pick out a single move that caused him problems and will replay and analyze it repeatedly until a solution is found. While he still lost to the Evo Champ, next time they meet, no doubt it will be a tougher match. Great stuff.

@@ULT4M1N3R Nothing to do with netcode in that situation, Daigo stuck out Kage's st. lk and it got clipped by the fireball. Go back and watch and you can clearly see what happened.

It seems like he is not used to the Sakura matchup. Not saying that if he was he would have won the majority or anything, but since adaptation is his specialty and he seemed to look confused at certain points, I think it may be the case

This shows the difference between a casual player and someone who takes it serious. After losing going straight in to the test to find out how to counter the moves and then applies them.

For a 21 year old too... This kid is gone be a SF contender for some time I'd say. His ability to make reads and control space is pretty incredible.

what is an OS in the context of a walk back?
My guess is that Nauman is OS to use Sakuras back walk speed to escape from throw lock situations. Its kinda like that OS in 3S where you would block for a few frames then jump back to escape 2 or so options. So like if you were knocked down in corner, you would block for a few frames then jump back to escape throws, but it could be beat by delaying inputs to catch the jump back or walk back(as is shown by Daigo here)
Username0123456789 I think he meant that Sak can crouch block for a bit just after getting thrown, then walk back. That option would allow her to block an immediate cr.MK meaty attempt while also avoiding a walk up throw thanks to her back walk speed.

I don't know you but I get angry and disappointed every time Daigo loses like this 03:55. He starts the round aggressive and killing it but suddenly he stops attacking and starts blocking and backing off like a scared kitty. He's lost so many important tournament matches doing that while using Guile. That's why I don't like him playing Guile and I don't wanna see that shit with Kage too. Kage is meant to be played aggressive, to put pressure into your opponents so they make mistakes and then you beat the shit out of them with combos. That's how he used to play with Evil Ryu. If you notice, every time he plays really aggressive from beginning to end of the match, he ends up with a really high win rate. I just don't understand why he does it.
Let him get more familiar with kage, remember diago got used zoning in sfv so ofc hes gonna play like that. Give him some time hes going to be using kage like his e.ryu back in the peak of sf4.

Coming from street fighter 2 I find it so weird that the punishment window for a strong blow is almost nonexistent. Balrog can load a punch and deal a lot of damage and if you defend it, you can only punish him with a weak punch, lol. The Abigail guy can just tank my blows...

She has good normals that can be very harmful in the corner (her stand MK, crouch MK, Stand LK and stand HP).
Thus her Vskill 2 is very dangerous too if you know how to use it.
Her anti air is very fast (light DP) and she can switch sides with her crouch HP combined with her Vskill 2.

people who believe that the kid won because he played a character nobody knew are so delusional and ignorant. they dont understand fighting games or havent been around the fgc for long enough to understand how characters are not the most important aspect on winning tourneys and being the best. tier lists never matter more than skill, hard work and creativity. its brain damaged to say anyone can pick up an “unknown” character and smash through pro players and win an evo title. what a ridiculous and clueless statement. EVERYONE on pro level knows sakura and her data. there is a reason why nobody plays her. its the pro players job to know each and every character, follow balance patches and know match ups. sakura in sf4 and sf5 is known by everyone. and even if that wasnt the case, it takes technically more skill and work to win a major tourney with a non top tier character than with a “top tier” character. he picked a character he liked regardless of tier lists and proved the whole world that skill and dedication can make any character seem like a god tier. its about the player in the end and he showed a sakura nobody has ever seen before. its funny, the same people saying he won because people didnt “know” the match up are absolutely the same people that would have discredit a newcomer kid for playing a top tier character.

If they're not labbing out every single character in the game, they aren't very good at their profession. They're dedicating enough time to a game that requires relatively little time to learn combo execution.
You can't tell me multiple pros weren't familiar with Sakura's frame data whatsoever... They deserved every loss if that were the case.
In the end, he deserved the win. No one can say he didn't. Whether he won from his opponents' lack of preparation or immense skill may be up for debate...

Stupid, lab a character is NOT enough to win a tournament, you need REAL matches to fully understand the gameplay because players have different ways to play, so if PROS can find PROFESSIONAL SAKURA'S PLAYERS they can't get enough experience to deal with it:
Sako exploit unknown character advantage a lot in SFIV, he pick low tier Elena, develop her and KICK ASS with her for a while, because PROS don't now how to deal with a high level Elena BUT as soon as they learn Sako's Elena he get his ass kicked hard.

It's called Hitbox. Daigo plays Kage with stick because some chars are played better than with hitbox.

It's because he's using Kage not because of whether his Hitbox is being repaired or not. He was using Hitbox for Kage earlier on thinking this would differentiate him from other Kage's but found out that it's just hampering his progress. He refused to switch to stick because he doesn't want to adjust his controls that's specifically cater to his Guile. Daigo cant DP properly using Hitbox and he's been struggling ever since until he finally switch to stick it's when he became one of the best Kage users. Now he just switch boxes in between characters.

When he threw out the normal Kages hurtbox got extended more forward. Think of hurtboxes as the range where you can get hit by another normal/move. In this moment it so happens to be that Kages normal has a hurtbox that reaches further than you can visually see.
