You need to sign up for national membership for renting cars. Once you’re a member you get to skip the line go straight to the parking lot and pick any car you want out of the lot. Every 40 rental days gets you a free rental day. So worth it. I’ve been traveling for a living for 3 years and national is absolutely the way to go.
Most all rental companies have a preferred type membership... For example, I was Avis preferred and in major cites like Philly you just get on the bus, tell them who you are and they drop you off right next to the car... sometimes started with trunk open... screw the lines!
Brotha, as a long time ram driver. The best thing you can do for your whip is free hub the front end. Yes you have to get out to lock in the Hubs when you need 4 wheel. But you will save so much wear amd tear and fuel mileage. Totally worth it.
For real? I have a 5th gen ram 5500, 4th gen ram 3500, and before that a 98 2nd gen 12 valve. Always wondered if it was worth the price. Can’t imagine how much a manual hub kit for my 5500 is tho.

Hopefully it doesn't wind up in the middle of the Great Salt Lake being yanked out by a wrecker 🤣

Congratulations on you new Isata 5 ! As a Rv technician that has worked on a lot of these units I can say that they are built fairly well compared to a lot of other manufacturers, but I can almost guarantee that you will have some sort of issue with the firefly system unfortunately. Hi there - I have to say that I envy your ability to drive long distance without stopping, Dave. In my younger years, I would drive from our home near Edmonton, Alberta to Vancouver, BC (which is about a 12 hour drive), without stopping. Now, even if I'm in the passenger seat, I'm ready for a snooze after an hour or two, haha. It's clearly safer for me to be in the passenger seat! Your unit is a beauty. I don't know how you feel about having your family on your channel (I know we've seen short snippets here and there), but I'd love to see a weekend camping trip using your new rig. I imagine we'll have to wait til next summer for that now though, haha. Then again, you are in a milder climate than ours in the winter, which can get as ugly as -30C (-22F) or worse though that's not the norm. We're typically closer to a balmy -20 to -25C (-4 to -12F). Glad you enjoyed your drive. Thanks for taking us along and for giving us a tour of your new adventure-wagon! Heather🇨🇦
I know that one. I used to drive from Jacksonville FL to Jefferson City MO ,about 15 hours straight through and then back again on a 3 day weekend while I was in the Military. I probably couldn't do that to save my life now.
I like the paint colors and the mountains and compass. It’s a beautiful camper and enjoy. ❤ When you replace the tires I’m thinking you might have to get a different offset on the wheels so they don’t stick out and reck that beautiful paint job.
Plus these guys do a lot of free work. They help a lot of people plus the Commercial pay some bills as we watch and buy things from their site What a rig very nice one 👍
Very curious how the construction of the camper portion holds up to flex, vibration etc. Would be interested to see one without panels to see what additional reinforcements are used.
Great looking vehicle with awesome paintwork. I should point out that the liquid spring suspension was first introduced by Citroen in 1954 as “hydropneumatic suspension” on the rear suspension of the Citroen Traction Avant. The first four-wheel implementation was in the advanced Citroen DS in 1955. It was also licensed to both Rolls Royce, BMW, Maserati, Peugeot and Mercedes. It was further developed into the “Hydractive” system. Jay Leno calls the Citroen DS the best riding car to this day.
If I had known you whenever you came to town, I would’ve picked you up at the airport and taken you to pick your new coach up. As a retired widow, my time is my own. I don’t know if that’s as nice as Earth Roamer. I own one and the interior was the nicest I could find. Dynamax is considerably less expensive and build time is a lot less too. I also own a Featherlite RV which is the finest money can buy (I’m my opinion). When you go to their showroom, literally the sky is the limit. Featherlite builds most of the NASCAR RV’s too. My point is…after the Featherlite experience I had extremely high expectations and Earth Roamer met them + I’m Ford 100%. Seeing how you use RV’s for work and play, Earth Roamer wouldn’t be a good fit. As always, thanks for sharing your adventures!

Yeah, pretty damn close to it. It got it's ass handed to it by a very tiny rut on a small/moderate incline lol. But hopefully this one isn't advertised as "go anywhere" like the other one was. It went through a small ditch and it ate it's own camper shell lmao
If you want 'go anywhere' the best way to go is on a Unimog chassis. Of course, if you want all the unnecessary luxury amenities, it takes size and weight to a point where nothing will take you 'anywhere'.
I traveled 4 times over 6 months & Budget was my first rental & it took forever, not did they have any of the vehicles I asked for. However I used Avis for the next 3 trips, it was way better service, cheaper up to $200.00 for the same car as Budget & getting in & out at the desk plus in the garage was quicker. Sign up for the whatever member or rewards they have, you get emails maybe once a week but you save money. I will never use budget again, Avis is my choice. 😊
I’m sure I don’t understand but it seems crazy to me that the first thing he talks about is the fix’s and modifications he’s going to do to it; I would think that after spending that kind of money on a rig it would be and have everything I wanted on it when I pick it up.
If you become a Hertz gold member you just swipe and go get the car….they even leave cars on off hours…. And you can drop of on off hours. Super convenient. We have a filming company as well as four other companies and 3 houses in different parts of the country…this is what we have found to work the best. I do believe there are a couple of other companies that do the same….but Hertz is just the one we started with. We also fly American Airlines as platinum pro so we get first class on all our flights. This is an advantage with lots of camera gear as the bags can be heavier and you can have more….and they are nice to you. Hope this helps…big fans…hope to meet you guys someday…we have several mutual friends.
I am an engineer that travels 2-3 weeks a month. The best rental car rental system is National. Because you and your team travel so much you can set a corporate account that all the points pool into so you automatically qualify for executive status. Then, when you get there as long as you have the app logged in you just walk right out and pick your car, no lines and generally no wait unless you want something oddly specific.
You went through my neck of the woods in southern illinois to go to St. Louis. Thats awesome glad you had a good trip back home and you made it safely. Hope you have a great time and make many happy memories in your new RV.
Road warrior business traveler Pro Tip: setup a corporate contract account with Enterprise (also good for national, as they're owned by both). Land in a location, walk out to the lot, grab whatever car you want and drive to the exit. They'll finish processing the reservation for you on-demand at the gate (basically a vending machine). Also, I'm bummed that you were in South Bend - that's my hometown.
Man id love to own something like this one day. It’s my and my wife’s dream when we get a little older in age to travel the US once our kids move out. Beautiful, well functioning RV. Love It. Congrats Dave
Still feels he needs validation from the people to justify spoiling himself after building a legacy. That's very humble not only buying something nice for yourself but you are investing in and helping out a company that probably deserves it.
@HeavyDSparks I love how you mentioned that you have been a ford guy the past 7yrs or so and then started talking about the cummings engine but the one thing alot of people dont know is that dodge went to ford for the block in cummings engines so technically your driving a ford in a dodge body
100% go with National Emerald Club. You just make your reservation and then just show up to the lot that day and get in any car under the roof and off you go. No talking to anyone.
Here in Colorado the Company that makes these is "Earth Roamer"! Although, "Earth Romers" are "Expedition Vehicles" not Motorhomes/RVs! Pricing starts at $775,000 and goes up to $1,150,000, used from $395,000!
Need to get Matty and Nav back to the States for more collabs. Maybe get the Aussie vendors to spring for at least shipping something over to compare/contrast NA/AU gear/rigs/campsites/trails/culture. Like an offroad/camping version of Lost in the Pond. Plan a trip from Salt Lake down to Texas, swing by Kentucky, and end up in Florida.... ;)
Not sure if anyone answered your question about the rental cars but the answer is to join the rewards programs of the rental carriers. For instance, avis preferred members get their cars preassigned so you just walk up, no human interaction, receive your car assignment (some airports are different on how they deliver that), and leave. And most major rental carriers have similar programs
I have the 28SS version with the stock tire size and kelderman airbags on all 4 corners. It is a fantastic RV. Its very unique. And gotta love the big turbo diesel. Hauls my biggest trailer with all my toys no sweat going straight up mountain hills, passing people. He chose a great unit.
Regarding rental car hacks, I travel for work and rent vehicles literally all the time, 213 nights in a motel last year type of travel frequency here. Rent with either National or Avis. National being the top choice. They have emerald club (costs nothing) and this literally let's you skip the line completely, walk out to the garage and grab any vehicle in emerald aisle and leave. Saves me literally hours sometimes. Avis also has a preffered club that allows you to do something similar. The type of vehicle you choose will be pre assigned to you and your name will be on a board when you get to their counter. You just proceed to that spot and go. In the last 3 years, and having tried them all, those were the 2 I stuck with. Hope this helps. 👍
Nice!! I’m glad all of your hard work a dedication is paying off for you and your family! For any sane and rational person this is just motivation to strive for better!
The things and personalities presented on TV, now RUclips etc are not real. These ppl are funded with black budget dollars to control / sway public opinion. None of this stuff is obtainable for millennials and younger currently
I live & work right near this Dave. I'm a P&D Driver for a national carrier & do the Goshen area. Would have been happy to have given you a lift over to Dynamax. Glad you had a good experience~
Lol, $400K and you still have to buy a Winch and safer tires? Well, got to get back to cutting coupons for this week's Groceries! Thanks for sharing, Richie Rich!
Rental Car Hack - Go w/ National and get Executive status. You can get with AMEX platinum as a benefit and you now can bypass the line, pick any car in the Emerald Club and when you are at the booth they assign the car to your reservation. So easy, always have nice cars, suv, trucks at same price. No lines. Good luck. Just found your channel yesterday, great videos. Where are y’all in UT?
I know someone that bought a zero degree flatbed Tow Truck that they made a container out of it. When he goes on vacation he tows a front wheel drive vehicle on the wheellift on end. Then when they get to final destination. He puts the Container on the grou d and walks into His 24ft long by 8ft Tiny Home. It has everything an RV has even has two slide outs. One for living room and one for the bedroom. I will send pics to you Dave Sparks.
You came all the way to Indiana and you didn't stop in to say a Hey !?? This is one awesome rig , Brother ! You did well & we hope you only have Large Fun , Heavy D ... Gods Blessings , mang ❤😊
Enterprise aisle! If you become a member you can just make a reservation, go to the parking lot and get in what ever car you want. It’s the fastest one.
Join the clubs at one or two of the rental car providers. The company I work with is set up so I walk right past the long lines and get into a car of my choice. Works 90% of the time.
Use Nationals Emerald club. You don’t have to go to any line. You go to their emerald aisle and choose the car you want. Keys are in it and as you leave you stop at the booth to confirm payment and reservations and off you go. Super easy!!
That is one sweet RV+. As a retired carpenter on a SSI income, it's only about $380k out of my price range..lol I'd be happy with a 30ft camper to pull behind my 5.7 hemi.
Hey from a Canadian fane. I know you will not see this .. but keep up the amazing work helping people out. . Sorry I cannot give donations. But I do enjoy your videos
I highly suggest hertz, you can get a plan where you just go to the car and get it, and you have to show your ID before they let you out of the parking area, that's about it.
29:33 The thing I like about 'pickup based" (especially full sized) RV's .. Is SERVICEABILITY! When the average mechanic sees one come in .. he is instantly relaxed! :) everything is available thru his normal suppliers, same as any "big pickup" .... Nobody is rooting around a laptop screen trying to figure out what transmission they put in it!! :) ETC
A lot of jealous haters in the comments…. I can’t afford this RV, but it was cool to see it through Dave’s lens. Rather I use this for inspiration to get to his level. The haters stay poor.
If we all had the work ethic of these top youtubers America would be great again. Nothing but respect. Just left cletus vid these guys are insane work horses
Little know fact; Volvo was one of the first companies to introduce hydraulic suspension on factory cars. From 04-07, the S60R as well as the V70R both share an extremely similar system to that dodge. Just way smaller. They even have the same 3 modes as you describe
No I will believe what you just bought congratulations. As a man that works his body into the ground and have nothing I’m glad to see others making it ❤
Carvana had $13.6 billion sales last year and over 412k people chose to "buy a car from a vending machine". Their downfall the supply of used cars lowered and therefore couldn't sell as many cars as predicted with their debt strategy.
I don’t travel often, but when I was waiting in line for budget, I saw a sign that said become a member online and skip the line. All I have to do is give them my email and I was able to go straight past the desk to the garage, where the attendants were, and give them my information and they checked me in there. This was also in Boston airport and if anyone has been through Boston Logan, they know how bad those lines can get. Traveled a couple times after that and it still worked.
Great video. Personally in my opinion it is way to massive. But i guess its made for the American market. Here in new Zealand that thing wouldn't get down half the roads especially if its for camping its just to big.
AVIS Preferred is the only way to go. I had the same issue as you with Budget and noticed that people were just walking up and getting their cars. I wouldn't say it is a vending machine but pretty dang close. You walk up and they already have you paperwork printed and keys ready to go. All you have to do is walk up, show them your ID and walk out with your keys. Takes about 5 minutes.
*My greatest concern is how to recover from all these economic and global troubles and stay afloat especially with the political power tussle going on in US. The government has really called things more difficult for its citizens, and we can't sit back and bear all the consequences of the bad governance. We need to take our financial life serious….. I recommend stock market investment and digital currencies*
The wisest thought that is in everyone's minds today is to invest in different income flows that do not depend on the government, especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver and digital currencies (BTC, ETH.... stock, silver and gold)
Even with the bad economic, My life has totally changed since I started with $3,000 and now I make $68,700 every 14days for the past 3 months, I can afford any car or house of my choice right now and I don’t need to worry about my retirement ….,God bless Mrs Eleanor Nelson Barnes
As a newbie you’ll need to invest in a company that is working towards sustainability, like that of expert Eleanor Nelson, and her abilities in handling investments are top notch
I used to manage a Budget local office. The hack is to always order the cheapest car. They will never have it. They will attempt to upsell you. Don't bite. They have to auto upgrade you. So if you reserved a econo car, you'll get the mid or full sized car, whatever they really do have. The sister company is Avis. Its the same fleet. Budget is the cheaper service. If you are in a rugged market, take the insurance, if you are not in a bad area but rather in a rural area, your insurance covers you, don't waste your money.
Hell yeah, I use Hertz Gold and no waiting, go right to the lot and jump in a car and go

Not gonna lie this was a good video it was just you doing your own thing and you explain thoroughly about the thing you purchase
Purchase? They should give it to you since you’re advertising it to millions of people.
How many of those millions of people are actually going to buy one.
they probably at least gave him a big discount of like 50%... dont kid urself that he paid full price for it looool
I think that’s a very nice unit!!!!
Love the idea of it being a 4 Wheel Dr.
Thanks
You guys are ultimately awesome in building your machine and equipment. I don't know who comes up with the brilliant idea but keep it up.
Man id love to own something like this one day. It’s my and my wife’s dream when we get a little older in age to travel the US once our kids move out. Beautiful, well functioning RV. Love
It. Congrats Dave
For 400k i would expect them to fit a wood stove
That would seem practical and luxurious!
Good idea! Not sure how many people would actually want that though since a furnace it so much easier
woods for the poor people. lol
@@moondogg73 starting to be a lot of them living in their cars, like retired old folks and it's just barley the beginning
Only thing missing is a televator, or an adjustable TV option in front of those nice theater seats. Maybe the TV in the bunk area swings out?
but why the heck do you need a TV in a camper? I mean... if I want to watch TV I dont need to buy a camper. Just staying home and fine.
Those shocks were invented by Citroen and made the DS famous. Bentley adopted them too cuz they’re so good.
100% go with National Emerald Club. You just make your reservation and then just show up to the lot that day and get in any car under the roof and off you go. No talking to anyone.
Hey Heavy D really enjoying what you doing. Awesome RV. All the way from South Africa!
Here in Colorado the Company that makes these is "Earth Roamer"! Although, "Earth Romers" are "Expedition Vehicles" not Motorhomes/RVs! Pricing starts at $775,000 and goes up to $1,150,000, used from $395,000!
What a rig mate! We’d love to tag along on a trip 🤙🏼
Me wondering how I am going to buy food for the next week... Ahh yes a $400,000 camper... add it to the list.
True. The nwo forced depression we are in isn't conducive to such luxury
Bad economy people can't afford food
I have the 28SS version with the stock tire size and kelderman airbags on all 4 corners. It is a fantastic RV. Its very unique. And gotta love the big turbo diesel. Hauls my biggest trailer with all my toys no sweat going straight up mountain hills, passing people. He chose a great unit.
absolute beautiful rig. Love the look. Mopar chasis is the only way to go..
I feel like they are taking advantage of him, the truck itself is around 85k so that she’ll is worth 315K LOL
@@jimmycline4778 well good thing it’s his decision and his money.
The things and personalities presented on TV, now RUclips etc are not real. These ppl are funded with black budget dollars to control / sway public opinion. None of this stuff is obtainable for millennials and younger currently
Very cool
Love camping
Hate leveling my camper love your Stabilizing Jacks and road stability
Have fun
what a absolutely beautiful magnificent motorhome, badass looking rv! excellent choice . 😎👍
Hey HeavyD - I had a friend growing up that worked for Dynamax after graduating High School. I grew up in Indiana. Cool plant. Stay safe.
I live & work right near this Dave. I'm a P&D Driver for a national carrier & do the Goshen area. Would have been happy to have given you a lift over to Dynamax. Glad you had a good experience~
Wow, what a nice RV!
Dude, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work they are just so entertaining.
I never get tired of all the beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains from the interstate highways out west.
Lol, $400K and you still have to buy a Winch and safer tires? Well, got to get back to cutting coupons for this week's Groceries! Thanks for sharing, Richie Rich!
Like he said, it's kinda a production testing vehicle, that they may change to the other tires
get a better job
Rental Car Hack - Go w/ National and get Executive status. You can get with AMEX platinum as a benefit and you now can bypass the line, pick any car in the Emerald Club and when you are at the booth they assign the car to your reservation. So easy, always have nice cars, suv, trucks at same price. No lines. Good luck. Just found your channel yesterday, great videos. Where are y’all in UT?
congrats Dave, nice rv hope you and your family enjoy it and happy thanksgiving.
I will send pics to you Dave Sparks.
boys and their toys good on ya Dave
Def the most bad ass camper I’ve ever seen. Well worth 400k. I was thinking well over 500k at first
Looks a lot like the camper Donut broke and Matt's Offroad Recovery had to recover.
That one was the earthroamer. None of these vehicles are really “overland” capable just oversold salesman hype.
i use sixt for rentals, you can check in and select your car online day of, and you dont need to wait in the line.
Lol the fit and finish on that "custom" upholstery 😂
yup, immediately went to the comments when I saw them lol
Itll shrink. Its still brand new
After those slip covers on those seats? And why would you want white seats for a vehicle that is supposedly for camping in the back country?
@@meengreen52 for 400k it should be flawless
You came all the way to Indiana and you didn't stop in to say a Hey !??
This is one awesome rig , Brother ! You did well & we hope you only have Large Fun , Heavy D ...
Gods Blessings , mang ❤😊
If it allows you to explore the world then it's worth every penny
110%
When does he have time to go explore with his family?? It's probably a toy that he'll have for a short while and we'll never see again.
Enterprise aisle! If you become a member you can just make a reservation, go to the parking lot and get in what ever car you want. It’s the fastest one.
man the rig is giant already but it could use some even bigger tires
Join the clubs at one or two of the rental car providers. The company I work with is set up so I walk right past the long lines and get into a car of my choice. Works 90% of the time.
Glad you can live the dream. You work hard enough and deserve the breaks. Now time to make new great memories.
Use Nationals Emerald club. You don’t have to go to any line. You go to their emerald aisle and choose the car you want. Keys are in it and as you leave you stop at the booth to confirm payment and reservations and off you go. Super easy!!
I hope ATC sees this and starts making motorhome conversions. Would be a game changer to have a solid aluminum structure instead of the 2x2 wood 😂
That is one sweet RV+. As a retired carpenter on a SSI income, it's only about $380k out of my price range..lol I'd be happy with a 30ft camper to pull behind my 5.7 hemi.
When are we gonna see some more updates of the cabin lodge? Been a while, hopefully youve got it ready incase its another bad winter snow fall.
:) ETC
I love how bro has a toothpick in his mouth the WHOLE time he is giving the tour😂
A lot of jealous haters in the comments…. I can’t afford this RV, but it was cool to see it through Dave’s lens. Rather I use this for inspiration to get to his level. The haters stay poor.
If we all had the work ethic of these top youtubers America would be great again. Nothing but respect. Just left cletus vid these guys are insane work horses
haven't watched a heavy d video in a while. glad to see his content is still mostly just an advertisement for sponsors and/or partners.
😲 WOW that's a badass ass motor home i need this in my life lol congratulations Dave
Their downfall the supply of used cars lowered and therefore couldn't sell as many cars as predicted with their debt strategy.
the bunk beds should be able to also make into a loft chill spot as well
I don’t travel often, but when I was waiting in line for budget, I saw a sign that said become a member online and skip the line.
'merica
AVIS Preferred is the only way to go. I had the same issue as you with Budget and noticed that people were just walking up and getting their cars. I wouldn't say it is a vending machine but pretty dang close. You walk up and they already have you paperwork printed and keys ready to go. All you have to do is walk up, show them your ID and walk out with your keys. Takes about 5 minutes.
If it make memories with the family or ur friends then it is worth every single penny cant put a price on happyness and memories
Could I suggest going to Gale Banks and getting all the upgrades for the motor and exhaust!😎😜
can't wait to see what you did to it
Very cool RV, looking forward to following updates on it!
