    A more dirt oriented, small ADV bike is exactly what we needed, unlike the previous 390 Adventure which was more street biased.

    I really like my Honda 300 Rally, its a great bike that taken me from England to the TET in Spain and France, but its now priced at £6,579 plus another £1300 to make the suspension decent. KTM 390 Adventure R £6,699 in the UK with hopefully good adjustable suspension, larger engine, colour, TFT display, Rider modes inc ABS cornering etc. It's a compelling package if you can live with the extra 20kgs and I have to admit it looks incredible. Well done KTM, I think you've got a real winner.

      300L with fuel 140kg. 390 Adventure R 168kg with fuel. 28kg difference is a lot once you add luggage. Theres also the glaring KTM reliability problems and looming bankruptcy. Who wants to get behind that?

    • @jthelakes147
      @jthelakes147 7 дней назад +2

      @@nathanf3230 Thanks Nathan. Some good points. I didn’t realise until yesterday that A2 regulations set a limit of 0.2 Kw per Kg. So unless they either make the bike non A2 compliant or reduce the engine power then the minimum weight for any 35Kw bike is going to need to be 175Kgs. Hence why the bike is heavier than the less powerful CRF 300.

    • @nathanf3230
      @nathanf3230 6 дней назад

      @@jthelakes147 Imagine if the bike wasn't A2 compliant! Would've been pretty incredible. Should've been around around 150kg wet weight like the new Drz4s. Drz4s doesn't have a 6th gear though. Will stick with my Honda CRF300L.

    • @jthelakes147
      @jthelakes147 6 дней назад +1

      Yes. That would be very tempting but for now I’ll stay with my 153kg Rally.

      Atleast for things like tet regarding average 1st world man weight and luggage and the adaption at this requirements(*), the honda seems to be quite expensive, doesn't it? The now 390x has veen a capable traveler too.
      (*Talking weight you add like 90kg+ rider geared and not under 14kg even keeping luggage low) So the relatively okayish price at the Honda is low-balling. Will wait and see how Suzuki prizes in and or the BMW 450gs, maybe Honda has to move down the prize cos even compared to the ktm it now looks quite expensive.

    14 liter petrol is only about 10.5 kg. So the wet weight should be less than 176kg.

    • @rajaguruperiasamy8845
      @rajaguruperiasamy8845 7 дней назад +5

      @kailashsingh7169 No my friend, it's because of the density of the liquid. The relationship between mass and volume is called density, and measures the amount of mass that fits in a given volume. Water has a density of 1 kg /L, that is, 1 liter of water has a mass of exactly 1 kg. Whereas, The density of mercury is 13.6 kilograms per liter (at room temperature). The density of petrol ranges from 0.71-0.77 kg/L (varies based on temperature - if you fill your petrol at a time when the temperature is lesser, you will get more miles out of it).
      So I am not high 😃

    The redesign appears like a successful one. The bike looks much better and will certainly perform much better off road. My only criticism is pricing a bit on the high side, and the X version is unnecessary in my opinion.

    The worst memory I have about KTM is a drunk unlicensed teenager hitting my SUV one day before I planned to gift it to my dad before traveling to the US.
    To understand why Ferrari doesn't sell the car to everyone is this. There are so many stories on youtube where they have compared the bike to a particular type of riders on the streets.
    If you want to dirt bike, please find a road away from normal traffic.

    I currently have an 890 R, it's a bike that I only use for offroad, I like it a lot but it's quite heavy when I want to get into very rough roads, I'm a medium-experience offroad driver.
    I want to know what you think about changing my current 890 bike for this 390 Adventure R, I like that it's almost 100 pounds lighter, and that it's much thinner, which makes it easier for my feet to reach the ground; this bike comes with all the electronics that I currently have on the 890, and since I already have another road bike (BMW R1300), I'm thinking about changing the offroad one, what do you think, should I change the 890 for this new 390 Adventure R?

    • @tdeloriea

      I rode my 2021 890 Rally like a dual sport. I had so much fun on it. Then last year I realized I was getting tired of how much work it was to stay with guys on their small bikes. What am I trying to prove? I realized my aging body was one moment away from disaster. I was riding it like Chris Birch but without his fitness or that extra bit of talent he has. At 62 I sold it and got a BMW 1300GS and figured my dual sport Husky 350 would work as a lightweight ADV bike. I like the BIG GS but it sucks at being playful on the hard dirt sections. It is not a big DS like the 890 was. The Husky belongs in the woods on hero sections and not ADV rides. I needed something that was lighter than the 890 but could carry its features. Bingo! The deposit went in yesterday. I look forward to riding it the same way they market it in these videos.
