That's why BMW stands for Break My Wallet. On that note, I have a Chinese scooter and while it's no Honda is has been a fun bike for what it is. It's easy to work on and cheap to fix when something does break.
I blame EU regulators for that more than I blame German Engineers. Here in asia, cfmoto dominates even on performance and durability. I can testify that with having 2 motorcycle. 1 cfmoto and 1 honda. I have been spending more in terms of parts on my honda vs my cfmoto. Both of them are used but not abused.
Alinna Lipp was charged for her Ukraine journalism once she came back to Germany. Glenn Greenwald had to leave the US and move to Brazil. And you know how Julian Assange rotted in a UK jail for over a decade. Obviously I don't know a ton about China, but buying a Chinese motorcycle because my country won't sell me one I can afford won't make me lose a wink of sleep.
I loved my Triumph and my current Honda but you hit the nail on the head with the Chinese producing bikes that customers want and can afford. I would say 15 years ago no-one in the UK would buy a Korean car. But now you can't move for Kia and Hyundai's. I appreciate the car market is different to bikes but still, it proves the customer is king. Meet their needs and you can rule too.
Human rights in China is different from your so called human rights in western countries. The Chinese value peace, stability, prosperity and progress over western models of individualism. The Chinese govt manage to uplift 800 million people out of poverty a feat no country ever done in human history. Dictatorship can only do so much. Don’t be a simpleton and study its history from qualified academics instead relying on Peter Zhihan and Serpentza for your daily feeds. Go read how China deal with disasters compare to in the west where politicians bickered on whose failure and wide spread looting.
People hate China because their media tells them to do so. They have been brainwashed. But things will turn around eventually. Even the dumb and blind will eventually see the truth. Greetings and respect from Iran
Most recently they have eliminated the nation of Tibet with "reeducation" programs, forced sterilization, and just plain murder. You can make all the excuses for them you like but I for one won't be buying anything that's made in China as long as there is a choice not to.
As the video points out, the best thing is that competition from China is, and will, cause manufacturers across the rest of the world to lift their game. Frankly, they have been resting on their laurels for too long. And, they have quietly killed off all of the good value models, and kept only the exorbitant, high profit models. Competition is a good thing. Now, will I be buying a Chinese bike any time soon? No. But, by the end of the decade, unless the legacy manufacturers lift their game (and that probably just means the Japanese, as the European and definitely American manufacturers, are pretty much going the way of the Dodo), I might be willing to consider it.
i have a zontes 310r and a cf moto mt650 ......... the zontes was way ahead of its time for a 300 6 years ago. my cf moto is just unbelievable with tech and quality for the price
The last comment on the video, which suggested avoiding Chinese products due to claims about jailing journalists and lack of free speech, really killed the whole mood and enjoyment . I felt it unnecessary and misplaced, especially considering the fact that Western governments have also been known to act harshly, often with little regard for accountability or transparency. Such a comment and political view can detract many from the overall enjoyment and purpose of otherwise a good video.
I've had German, British, American, and Japanese bikes. To be honest they've all been good, with the exception of the British one. It was s Norton commando 850. But it was very old tech. So it's forgivable for being unreliable. My next bike will be a Chinese one though. My research tells me the top brands are about as reliable as the best of them
China is now a World Class Leader in maufacturing. If it's made in China I know its a quality product- smartphones, HDTVs, small engine appliances, Motorbikes.
China is still third class I can say with 40k plus dollars worth of Chinese junk in my store room which did not last more than a month..the worst products ever
Why do you say , that buying chinese motorcycle helps regime of chinese, if all europian brands suport that regime by making motorcycles there, not in ES? So if you by bmw you buy for twise money, the same motorcycle (voge900 = bmw gs890f) and you save bmw who helps chinese regime and takes double of your money? So either way you do help regime of china, just either 10k or 20k eur? Or how you see it?
It will. Modern motorcycle engine is not rocket science, it's pretty simple and straightforward, rather cheap, well known since 40 years, and taught in any good engineering university in the world. The Chinese make plenty of things asking for reliability and good steels including, planes, rockets, high speed trains, orbital station, probes to the moon, plus the machines tools to make all that from first rate alloys. It's now the first and more advanced industrial world power...Opinion of a retired naval engineer.

In comes this older follow who had to be in his 70's driving a large station-wagon car from the 80's with normal tires and he crawled up the rock face as if it weren't there. He drove up and eventually came back down moments later. It was quite amusing.
This is a video about geopolitics and their impact on the motorcycle industry. Of course it is political. Everything said in this video is backed up by sources. Check your own info on Uyghurs and jailed journalists if you don't believe me. I admire China's rise, I admire their engineering and their efforts. But I fully understand everyone who does not want to support chinese companies as long as that government is doing what it is doing. As a Chinese, I think it is necessary for you to understand what it means to ride a motorcycle in China. At present, I am still not optimistic about it
Because in China, there are nearly 200 cities where you ride a motorcycle, and you become a criminal with almost no exaggeration. 99% of Chinese motorcycle manufacturers are located in these 200 cities, and the malice towards motorcycles here is unimaginable for any ethnic group outside of China
@@LukeHilby Motorcycles aren't allowed in the big cities, not allowed on highways, have trouble getting fuel at the gas station, aren't respected on the road by other users (mainly car drivers), and the roads themselves have quite a few dangers like debris, potholes, painted lines, open/worn out pot holes. Those would be some of the main reasons in my eyes. (And yes, I'm speaking from personal experience of living there.) Also, the government wanted people to buy cars. Motorcycles were traditionally used by everyone that didn't have access to owning a car. Riding a small motorcycle is more for the poor and rural regions. I think the government didn't want the big cities in China to turn into traffic situations like in Bangkok or Vietnam where there are small motorbikes everywhere. It's only been a few years since for example Guangzhou has allowed the "electric bicycle", basically very light e-bikes that by law should still have working pedals. It only took a few years (maybe even less) for the amount of plated electric bicycles to go from zero to 5 million in Guangzhou alone. They have taken over the streets and sidewalks and have made pedestrians' lives very stressful. Basically, it's a very confusing domestic market for motorbikes, and I think there might also be some cultural reasons why China isn't a big market for bigger motorbikes (yet). CFMoto has definitely been working hard at it for a long time. I remember when our factory in China received one of the first NK650's for exhaust testing around 2009. And let's not forget the success of Surron and other electric dirtbike manufacturers. For me personally, I would love to try out the Kove. I hope they become succesful. It's interesting to see that some of these new manufacturers seem to understand that a brand name can be built quite quickly by motorsports success.
@@seepranavgAs with any market and any product, there are different price and quality levels, and you get what you pay for. 一分钱,一分货。 The quality of the bigger brands is definitely quite good. (Similar to certain car brands, phones, electronics, etc.) I think the hardest part of really entering a new market is the dealer network, aftersales service, parts availability etc. Early adopters might care less about this, but the general consumers need more longterm peace of mind and support.
Wow, excellent professional channel at last! Long time waiting for one, the others are like the British industrial scene, dying as I write!!! Well done Sir!😁
Some key points for Chinese is bad support, you buy "as is" no bug fixes and they may have all the specs you can imagine but aren't thoroughly tested or work as intended, that said I welcome more competition, too much greed and cartel deals the last decade.
Support is usually bad outside of China. The policy is basically "buy as is", any issues down the line are up to you. Spare parts, etc. Not sure if it's like that in China, but in my experience, Chinese manufacturers in SEA are pretty horrendous at long-term customer relationships. They're slowly improving, though, and understanding that losing a tiny bit of money to fix something will mean more loyal customers in the future (Yadea, BYD). In general though, customer service really sucks compared to North America, where the consumer culture is totally different.
@@seanjohnston848 the worst experience I've had was a US built motorcycle. The motor failed at under 1000 miles. Eventually they just stopped answering emails. No *consumable* spare parts were ever available. A decade later and the company is still the same. Replacement of a 10 dollar bearing isn't allowed by the company, must buy a complete motor for thousands. The software knows which motor is installed and won't run unless the replacement is fitted by a dealer. Knows if the motor is opened, and won't run unless a dealer authorises the change, which dealers will not do. They will only replace the entire motor.

Well, lets compare to the japanese bikes, which are better. Buying chinese, means indirectly financing CCP. They can produce regardless of anti-pollution rules, regardless of workers' rights, etc, we can go on. Also, do you really think that the cheap chinese alternative is the same quality for less money? Not even close. They got better, but are not yet at the same level. There is no hunger, very little misery even in the deep countryside, no people sleeping in the street, no drug addicts, there is a rather good cheap health system (I've used it at Shanghai), rather affordable food and renting prices even for the lower wages and I have not seen anybody in need to take two jobs for just surviving. No family is ruined because one of the members is sick. No need of loans to get an education, there are plenty of pretty good free universities. The infrastructure is often astonishing, and very well made. The majority of the Chinese have correct lives and the safety is absolutely exceptional. That is what I've seen. Not paradise, but certainly not a communist slum. For a Chilean 11th of September is on 1973, when the legal president was pushed to suicide, with 3000 killed people by Pinochet with the advice of Kissinger and the CIA, and 20 years of dictatorship. For an Argentinian it's the Junta Militar, financed and "educated" by the USA 30000 dead, many years of far right dictatorship nurtured by the USA. For a Cambodian it's Lon Nol pushed by the USA to take the power, that opened the door to the genocidal Pol Pot 3 000 000 dead 25% of population. Meantime the USA, defeated by the North Vietnam ran away from Vietnam and South East Asia... I can add too many examples like Irak 600000 dead estimated by the Lancet, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Ukraine (about 4000000 dead Ukrainian estimated) etc...The last one in the list being the criminal against humanity Natanyahu, helped by the USA and some occidental countries. My Asian friends are in revulsion. Plus the brute Trump now ...Except the USA, and the European allies, very few people in the world perceive China as a menace, but most fear the USA erratic policies, living in and for perpetual war. And simply take a plane and spend some time in China, there are many very beautiful places to see easily with the high speed trains, an interesting culture and a lot of nice people to meet. I have a 2021 CFMoto NK 650. Last year the oil seal broke so i took it to my mechanic. Since the sealing was identical with the one that Kawasaki ER6N has, he insisted that i buy the japanese one. I trusted him. After the piece arrived he called me to show the difference between the two pieces. Even tho they looked the same, the Kawasaki was miles away in the build quality compared with the CFMoto. As a conclusion, i enjoy my bike, it was very affordable and still goes fine, but there still is a huge difference at least between japanese and chinese bikes.
Fascinating! Thanks, you deserve a Sub! Never imagined "Made in Germany" meant it was cheap, similar to Made in Japan in the 70s. Has anyone ever heard of a Chinese dirt bike called Hengjian S5 250cc - I think it is a KTM knockoff? But only around $3000?
I don't want electronics on my motorcycle, whether it be Apple or Google. At most, a 3rd party USB connection will suffice, so I can install a tablet of my own choosing without it 'jacking into' my motorcycle.
integration is a nightmare when things go wrong. In my country bmw bikes always return in the back of a truck. Simple japanesse or chinesse bikes work even when some part has failed, and take you back home.
I will never buy a Chinese made motorcycle. My life is more important than saving money on an inferior product. Cheap brakes or good brakes? It's that simple. Save money on toilet paper, not a street bike!
I do Hate coarse toilet paper. I'm sensitive in that area... Brakes? CFMOTO are using identical brakes to KTM. Of the many, many complaints I've heard about KTM, brakes rarely come up.

My bike is Chinese and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I would, however, like for my country to stop trying to block them so I can get parts more easily. Van life in the US is when someone could go to the junkyard to buy their new home because they cannot afford to rent an apartment.

While Germany does have quality things I find German automobiles to be incredibly over-engineered and expensive to service. That is why European vehicles don't do well over here in the US. Depending on the brand some are near impossible to get your hands on and even harder to get parts for. When you can find parts you're spending a small fortune to do simple maintenance. I will never own anything BMW be it a car or a motorcycle. As far as motorcycles go the only European brands that have my interest are Triumph & Royal Enfield, possibly even a Moto Guzzi. Their classic V-Twin seems fairly easy to keep maintained for being a Italian make. Other than those, a CF Moto or any respectable Japanese bike would be my next choice. :)
@@RonaldSkancke I figure the Guzzi is probably no1 on the list for being bad with maintenance since it's Italian and no2 is probably Triumph. But I'm talking more along the lines of changing oil than anything else. But I bet getting an oil filter for a Guzzi is like buying one for a Ferrari. Out of the three makes I've mentioned it's really Royal Enfield I have interest in the most. They look fun to ride.
German cars are expensive to buy, expensive to service and parts are expensive and they are not the same quality they once were im not surprised their car industry is collapsing
Chinese AI is going to have a major effect on the future of manufacturing in China. Already they have reverse engineering and products such as Aircraft and EV are taking market share.. Political system sucks by western countries standards. But that's not what is the problem, its the open pathway to less government infringement. Chinese will dominate the manufacturing process.
Interesting. But the video starts with a frankly, out of date presumption. German cars (other than the very, very high end ... read uber-expensive) have pretty much been crap for the last decade or more. But they are still riding on the average buyer having no actual idea about what they are buying, and an industry that is happy to keep lying to support its profits.
China needs to be humble and get e European or Japanese Engineers to help them with their Vehicle Transmissions to also manage to conquer the Automobile world. Their vehicles are affordable but lag when you need the power to move. Work on your quality China
Oh wow - banger of an outro. Supporting an evil regime as well as the obscenely massive amount of the world's money that is pouring into that country are significant concerns on my mind. I suspect much of the world (that hasn't burnt, flooded or been destroyed by storms & droughts) will be controlled by China by 2100. I recently bought an EV for my work.I was pleased I managed to find a Peugeot van as it was looking entirely like my only practical option was going to be Chinese.
KTM turned down Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boardman for that Long Way Around ..... and i think there was also a Wrong Way Around. They've been haemorrhaging ever since. Bad management I'm afraid.
Honda, yamaha aye not showing any interest in Indian market specially for 100 to 300 cc's bike. 100 to 125cc bikes are really famous in India and they are not launching any new models, they are just updating accessories and no major changes. Indian companies such as TVS and hero are doing better job (in all segments) my next bike would be xoom 125 once I get reviews specially from users itself
After having seen Cheap quality Chinese bikes which are flimsy unreliable and get heated up like Superbike I would only trust a Bajaj TVS Hero Royal Enfield Java yezdi Honda only in India
China will never dominate the bike industry, Yes I agreed. But that's not because of quality issues, they have top quality products now but because they don't know the actual ground reality of what the public really wants according to different markets. Chinese motorcycle manufacturers just think that fully western style of designs will suit the riders all over the world, that's why Indian manufacturers shine in south Asian markets despite being comparatively less modern. For eg: In my country Nepal, the Chinese motorcycles do not come with the good Pelion seat like Indian motorcycles do and a good Pelion seat is a must for almost everyone in this region because we don't have luxury to buy a lot of expensive cars, people here rely on their two wheelers to go out with families and friends. That's why Indian motorcycles are dominating the market, they provide good looking and practical motorcycles at reasonable prices whereas Chinese are launching the very modern and comparatively much expensive motorcycles with zero practicality. China just copying western designs without considering the consumer demographics.
Well, the dealer network and service has to count for something. My Yamaha dealer is within 20 miles, so I'll stick with Yamaha even if my wish list contains other brands.
My local Yamaha dealer is also a 20 mile distance away as well. But they've also been selling Suzuki for a few years and have been selling CF Moto in recent years. I haven't seen any CF Moto motorcycles on the road yet but they sell quite a few ATV's and UTV's. They used to be a Harley Davidson dealer up until they dropped Harley like a bad habit. The owner said they got screwed by Harley big time over the years so they cut ties with them. But they'll still service Harley's for people who have them.
@LukeHilby my bad after research cf moto was there in India but due to low quality and sales they exited India. I have seen few cf moto bikes that are 150cc bikes (bike shows) and they look good. Not sure sure about the quality or reliability. We purchased a 110 cc gearless bike which is activa Honda, it's very popular in India, they are known for reliability cause the bike {moped} are good for use in longer run. It is almost 9 years old.
Eu needs to realize that beyond 500, 600cc motorcycles are heavy and take more effort to ride, maintain, and travel with them. I would any day pick a 450 mt, 450 Himalayan, nx 500 over bigger bulkier GS Type of bikes.. most importantly I should be able to drop and repair the bikes without much hassle, Unlike the over-complicated bikes eu is been promoting for so long...
China doesnt win races....when it does...it can be Ducati or Porsche until then its cheap and it seems cheap because it is. KTM just won Dakar in 2025 again and thats pretty good for company going out of business. Kove had entries and a bunch of them finished. I dont see any Chinese MotoGP, Motocross, Flattrack, Endro, pretty thin. You cant just copy winning you get out in front and win. They arent very good at that.
Well... autoritarian as what? England? Germany? USA? maybe France... But those slave prisoner enginers are making good and affordable bikes, the people in poor countries can now have a bike, maybe not the best but payable with our income. Thank good video.
It's the inevitable. Chinese are very smart, but initially, they lacked discipline. The current Chinese government has changed that, and they are emerging as threat to Japanese industries. Big names Like HONDA, YAMAHA, KAWASAKI AND SUZUKI will remain leaders, but not without strong Chinese fierce competition in the lower segment. It remains until EV motorcycles become more dominant.
Personally I think people need to stop freaking out about China taking over the automobile and motorcycle industry. This is the same thing that was going on with Japan here in the US back in the 60's with motorcycles and the 1980's with cars. All of the big companies were freaking out because Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki were taking over the motorcycle market. While Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Honda were taking over the auto market. What's going on with China is just Japan 2.0. Instead of Japan taking over the market this time around it's China's turn. They're slowly going from making cheap budget items to quality products. When it comes to a company like CF Moto I feel their competition to fat complacent brands like Polaris and the likes are welcomed and needed. It would be even nicer if they made a manufacturing plant here in the US instead of importing them from Mexico. But we will have to see what comes of it.
Made in China and quality should not be used in the same sentence.ktm is going down and all I read about cfmoto is not great.look at their side by sides.i personally won't by Chinese manufactured bikes.to each their own, good luck!
Japan is number 1 in engineering, China is number 2. Germany is de-industrializing because they need to get lots of Africans to come and live there and once there are enough Africans there, Germany will become number 1 again in engineering and many other things as well, like they were in the past.

It will. Modern motorcycle engine is not rocket science, it's pretty simple and straightforward, rather cheap, well known since 40 years, and taught in any good engineering university in the world. India is better at that. Quality wise its closer to japs and EUs.
As a Chinese, I think it is necessary for you to understand what it means to ride a motorcycle in China. At present, I am still not optimistic about it
Interesting! Why aren't you optimistic?
(And yes, I'm speaking from personal experience of living there.)
Also, the government wanted people to buy cars.

一分钱,一分货。
The quality of the bigger brands is definitely quite good. (Similar to certain car brands, phones, electronics, etc.) I think the hardest part of really entering a new market is the dealer network, aftersales service, parts availability etc. Early adopters might care less about this, but the general consumers need more longterm peace of mind and support.

Some key points for Chinese is bad support, you buy "as is" no bug fixes and they may have all the specs you can imagine but aren't thoroughly tested or work as intended, that said I welcome more competition, too much greed and cartel deals the last decade.
They've already rolled a bug fix for the CFMoto 450 that fixed the snatchy throttle.

I have the most extreme caution about medias as I'm 72 so I have some experience about propaganda of any side. I've lived the cold war.
I've traveled and worked for a few missions in China. I've seen the economic transformation from a poor country to a prosperous one. 850 millions people taken out of poverty in less than 40 years, now 350 millions live with a level of life equivalent to most parts of Europe.
As ship structural design engineer, I've worked in France, UK, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Korea, China and a few other Latino American countries like Mexico, Peru, Argentina. I'm fluent in French, Spanish an English (third language). I've studied in four countries in three languages. Simply I'm a citizen of the world of French background. People of the world just want peace, tranquility, safety, a normal job, and to raise the children without fear of the future.
For most countries of the world the worst evil is the imperialist USA, not China. Like the Mexican say too far from God, too close to the USA. Like most people of the world I do not mix the actions of the USA government with the ordinary USA citizen. I've plenty of American friends, but also from many countries.
Ask a Mexican about USA he will answer the 1847 Mexican War, a lot of recurrent problems, the Narco War started on 2008 by USA pressure on Calderon. 400 000 dead, 150 000 missing people, and now Trump bullying.
Observe and make an idea by yourself. It's rather cheap. Make also a trip in Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore to see what are the social effects of Confucianism. Good night.

Two bikes you mention are rated as thec10 worst to own maintenance wise.
@@RonaldSkancke I figure the Guzzi is probably no1 on the list for being bad with maintenance since it's Italian and no2 is probably Triumph. What about Indian manufacturers…….. wh there is no mention of them ??

China will eventually buy out Yamaha
sensible.
KTM is owned by Indian company Bajaj.
Not owned. It owns minority stake.
India is not allowing Chinese brands because they are afraid it might impact India brands
Very interesting, will look into that. Thanks for sharing.
God created man and Japan created the motorcycle
Thanks
Eu needs to realize that beyond 500, 600cc motorcycles are heavy and take more effort to ride, maintain, and travel with them. I would any day pick a 450 mt, 450 Himalayan, nx 500 over bigger bulkier GS Type of bikes.. most importantly I should be able to drop and repair the bikes without much hassle, Unlike the over-complicated bikes eu is been promoting for so long...
XD no one will beat Honda... thank you
Came to India...
Sehr interessant..😮
CFMoto & Benda very exciting❤
Made in China and quality should not be used in the same sentence.ktm is going down and all I read about cfmoto is not great.look at their side by sides.i personally won't by Chinese manufactured bikes.to each their own, good luck!
Japan is number 1 in engineering, China is number 2.
Germany is de-industrializing because they need to get lots of Africans to come and live there and once there are enough Africans there, Germany will become number 1 again in engineering and many other things as well, like they were in the past.
That makes no sense. You were being sarcastic right?
It really bugs me to see these motorcycle channel guys hiding their faces behind helmets- and it’s a universal thing not just here in Hong Kong but elsewhere like in this video! I ask the question: WHY? Are you some sort of terrorist that you must hide your identity from the public or you’re just ashame of being a motorcyclist? If there’s a third reason I’d let you know!
Cool Hillbilly ✌️😄
Great video. Really love the quality, the narration, humor etc. And big kudos for the reminder on what China is. There goes the subscribe
Chinas Bike are maybe cheaper but Lifetime is lower then another Bike. Is made for sell not for reliable.
How do you know this? Any proof
I wonder if when the author talked about the persecution of journalists and the violation of human rights, he was thinking about Julian Assange and the Starmer regime?
No bike designed and built in China for me, sorry...I don't care where my phone is built. I just don't trust and also don't like the ,,chinese dream."
Hero also make 440x for Harley Davidson
Bwm f450 being manufactured by tvs.
