Hi. I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to this technique. I don’t ever recall anyone ever sharing this technique. It really does sound beautiful. Thank you very much. I am going to use this process as much as I can. I wish you continued success with all of your music videos and all of your music endeavors. Plus I am also wishing you continued financial success as well. Thank you again for sharing this wonderful technique. Have a wonderful day.
Sometimes i do chords with the left hand especially if I'm playing melodies with the right, or 1 + 5, or 1+5+1. I always tend to play the chord in the left if im going to hit 7th chord (for example) in the right hand.
Been looking for this exact tutorial. Love the way you take your time and explain things in detail. Others either talk way too much, or play at breakneck speeds leaving us puzzled and more confused. Thank you!
I love the 3+1+2 especially. Sometimes I add an upper 5 because my hand can go that far. A slur between the 1 and the 2 makes it so interesting. Avoiding octaves on the left hand always makes the chords sound "Fuller".
In Good Will Hunting there's scene where Lambeau tells the story of Ramanujan. How with no education, he found a simple math book, and after some time with it, he began to do some of the most advance math proofs ever done. I've watched dozens of piano videos over the past decade, and I could never wrap my head around the two hand connection. So my head could only understand memorizing some right hand chords and adding two root-based octaves below it. And because of that I always just felt frustrated like doing anything worth playing would be simply too high to ever reach. Like if you can't wrap your head around standing, you may never even try to get good at crawling because standing might as well be magic. But the cheat sheet you have given in the first half of this video... it blew my mind and I can wrap my head around it. And it makes standing not seem like magic. I feel like I could keep coming back to this video at multiple stages of improvement and still have my mind opened further. Obviously I've subbed and I'll watch other videos. But that I can say that about this single video says a lot. Thank you so much for this!
I'm some one who is learning how to play songs and I like music theory I've seen this done before and I didn't understand I didn't understand it in songs but thank you for explaining it, now I could go ahead and use this with the full knowledge of what I could do I learned a lot from you and just in this one video I guess I will be coming back again and again.
Good one Sean! A question though... Which method do you recommend for a one man band like me who plays for the entire worship team and church... I prefer octaves coz they give a consistent bass note for the singer and drummer as well... Pls what do you think?
Im a one-man band at one of my churches, it's preferable to do a bass split on the keyboard then, that'll give you bottoms, I'd avoid using octaves tho except to maybe end a song or to increase dramatic effect
Sean! Does this explain how some piano players get that bottom sound Without going down to the lower octaves and playing bass notes? I hear sometimes when musicians are playing, they have more of a full sound and they’re not mimicking their right hand nor are they playing just the bass note. I’m sure you’ve played that way before. Can you explain this theory?
Nice work bro. I will like u to listen to a particular song by Cory Heney. Art of Love Album and one of the track is Naanaanaa. Pls I need a breakdown 🙏
Sean ...this is excellento info ....YOU ...MY BOSS NOW !! This will take me to another level !! btw.....what MIDI note software you are using that shows us those screen chord names ? I would love to see visually, what the heck i am playing when adding notes like in your software ! I can manually name them but really slow !
Good day sir. If that keyboard in your side is not use to you, I humbly ask it for our church because we donot have good quality keyboard in our chucrh. I am looking forwarod for you response.
I can only reach an octave. My hands are tiny, and I have stretched them to the max. An octave is my thumb and pinky at 180°. My 9th reach is sloppy and unreliable.
goodday everyone, how can i pls be download all dis videos posted here on youtube pls..... i try all i could do ....but NO....pls i need need someone to enlighten me pls
Literally the best gospel piano teacher on RUclips hands down
Appreciate you doc, thanks for watching man!
I think that's very true.
I agree, and he is humble, giving, and intelligent. ❤❤❤❤❤

Our teacher and mentor! Much appreciated sir. I'm implementing these on Sunday definitely.
For sure man, add them right away, you'll have to experiment with some of the crazy ones

I love open jazz/neo voicings. thank you. MORE PLEASE.
Amazing grace played by amazing pianist
I am usually the opposite, chords left hand, melody right hand, this also really helps me!!!
Yeah man, thanks for watching!
I do quite enjoy playing my octaves.. LOL I’m used to it. I’m trying to change it up thought. I’m 3 years in. It’s a working progress.
Sean is a genius. That move at 7:44 was like peach cobbler. When I play an Fm11 chord
I voice it LH 1 5 m3 RH 5 b7 9 11
you got my attention with that description doc! Nice voicing too...
Thank you Sir. You inspire me I gotta sign up for your classes In 2021 I need to go to the next level.
WOW! this is so helpful Sean! God bless you!
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed
Oo, I’m enjoying this lesson. Thank you! God bless you.
When I was taught as a beginner I was taught right-hand melody and left-hand chords.
Yep, perfect way to start
Been looking for this exact tutorial. Love the way you take your time and explain things in detail. Others either talk way too much, or play at breakneck speeds leaving us puzzled and more confused. Thank you!
Sean just be beasting so calmly.
I wish man, thanks tho!
Sir I could listen to you play the whole day and still want more. Just too nice
Lots of creativity in this video.

Learned soo much from this channel it’s crazy
just blew my mind bro. thank you!!
Thank you Sir. I'm delivered
Your break down of theory and application with examples are top notch👍💯

Yes all great points as well! ! Thanks for the comment
Thanks! this video really helped me out! keep it up
you have changed my playing.#SeanWPiano (South Africa)

No problem, glad it helped!
You are so correct. When we learn we all only concentrate on the right hand... Feel like you were speaking to me personally there... Lol
THANK YOU !
Saved to favorites list
So does the 1-7 in 'sweet' give it a touch of irony because it's longing for the 1-8? These altereds sound so good.
Very nice explaining good bro... God bless you...
I guess you finally mastered how to create loops now. It really adds much to your play.
Great info Boss.
Thanks for sharing
Nope, I purchased one for 0.99, struggle is still real
Yahooo. Beginner stuffs are coming? Thank very much, sir.
it was aimed at beginner's yes, but still advanced towards the middle
@@SeanWilsonPiano I'm a beginner but I was able to follow everything in this video, sir. Hahaha thank you
I chuckled when I saw this cause it's something I also came up with to replace playing octaves.... It's a beautiful voicing for the left hand
Which chord are you talking about?
Very informative brother Ty👼🏽🎹💛
yeah no this is SMOOTH!!!!!!!!! 😭🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Wow for me from 08:23 to 08:30 is heaven. I’m sure Cory will steal this 😃
Uhm, I doubt Cory or any of those guys need this man lol, but thanks for the compliment bro!
The master on key 🔥🔥🔥
Thx Sean 🙏🏽
The 1-5-10 is also nice, I like to use that as well as the 1-5-9, especially in the context of the 1 and the 4 chords
So helpful,,, God bless you professor,,,
Appreciate it man thanks!
That sounds great already 👌

Great recommendations!!

I’m working on it. The coordination just isn’t there yet! Lol

Thanks for your great videos. Is it okay for one to have a convenient key to play on even though they can play on other keys? Hereby using transpose.
It’s ok, but it’ll mess with your relative pitch and your ear, ruclips.net/video/cO4C86j-x2A/видео.html
Dude...u r killing me with stretching that left hand cuz my hand is short and chubby lol
What should i learn as a beginner?
Hey man! I have roadmaps on my site that will take you step by step as a beginner.
@@SeanWilsonPiano Thanks i have just signed up
I feel called out

This is for me
The left hand is very IMPORTANT !
thankkkk youuuuu
That minor triad for the left hand kinds so rich
Fur sure, I go that that when I need a nice full sound
What do you call that chord at 6:03, a SeanWilsonRaise1?
Yup LOL
My fingers stretched to fit notes perfectly.... I shocked myself 😳
You were doin some tasty stuff in there, doc!!! Yessir!
You must have some nice ears man, had to slip in some tasty treats for you intermediate folk... 😂
Is that a Yamaha MoXF behind you?
goodday everyone, how can i pls be download all dis videos posted here on youtube pls..... i try all i could do ....but NO....pls i need need someone to enlighten me pls
Isn't the chord at 8:29 an inverted dominant chord
Nice catch bro! Didn’t notice that one
Hand size matters?
Definitely
I can reach 9 fairly comfortable but somehow is so hard for me to reach the 10. Any hand stretch exercise tip?
A tenth interval is difficult, some folks can do with if they continue to practice. Initially I could only reach 9
hey sean i can strech to a 11th, can u tell a good voicing plz
you're question is nuanced, watch the vid, it has many of the voicings there
I've been playing music for 22 years, I don't think I will ever understand the second half of this video!
which part?
That means you need to start practicing what you're not used to...😉
I’m here
yessir, thanks for coming!
I wish I could play Octaves in my left hand! (My hands are small)
That 1+5+9 is not in my future! HAHA!
What if one is short handed and can't stretch as you? Not everybody can do that....
That’s why the video has options for you to use, your not gonna choose options that you can’t reach
I didn't learn about right-hand chords until 2008.
Legend chord progression with patience 😂
