I am Iduini from Nigeria. We have gospel praise songs with only few tutorials about it. But I love Western and would love to apply it during worship sessions to raise people's spirits.
May God bless you and open your eyes to see that your sins have been paid for, and eternal life is free in Jesus Christ, the moment you believe in your heart that He (Jesus Christ) died for your sins and was raised from the dead by God for your justification, you will be sealed with his spirit. that is all about eternal life sir. nothing more or less.
Young man I've been playing for years dad was a pastor, I learned by ear and never took it to the next level, even though ppl always told me I had jazz chords. I was a big fan of Andre crouch and Eden Hawkins singers All the terms you use I never understood when they say a7 or diminish...but I'm starting to get it .7 3 6 I don't "get it!" Lord help me!I I'm 62 years old! Still wanna learn! Thank you for this video!
Really respect you showing us your experimentation process, takes a lot of guts to show the viewers, most channels always give us a perfect version. Its great encouragement because it also gives us learners the courage to experiement with the tools you have given us. Great Work, your channel is due to blow up soon!

I totally agree with you. Today's christian music is so boring especially those hillsongs all the way 6-4-1-5 or 4-1-5-6 🤕 instead of 6-4-1-5 u can do 6-2-5-1-4-7-3 in case of Am = Am7 (A7b9) Dm9 - G7b9 - Cmaj7 - Fmaj7 - Bm7b9 - E7b9 -> Am7 (root) between those chords u can also pley passing chords Am7 (A7#9) Dm9 (D9/F#) G (Dm7) (C#13) or (C#maj9) Cmaj7 (F#9b5) Fmaj7 B7#5#9 E7#5#9 to Am7 there are a lot more progressions in this socalled circle of 4th's
6-4-1-5. 7-3-6. Man!!!!! These progressions are SO extremely gorgeous...I mean...oh my gosh!! Even for the kick of it...Jammin in my living room 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for taking time to teach us beginners. I'm just learning to play chord charts and still struggle to think in terms of the number system. The 7 3 6 has a great sound, but when you begin to alter those chords, it gets even more challenging and hard to keep up with you. Thanks again
Take your time to learn the number system, it will free the way you approach music! Its what I use to teach as well because its easy to cover all the concepts and easy to understand, with practice of course! Don't give up! And If Im thinking of the same section you are, he walked down chromatically from the D and B, (basically that interval of the major 6th) Try it out slow and see if you like it!
I truly admire your playing I hope that one day I can be even half as good as you are. I'm just starting out but don't have a teacher yet so thanks for the content you put out
I am a swedish 19 year old who is studying gospel music in a school called "folkhögskola" (peoples school). I am currently going through a difficult time because i have tendonitis in my supraspinatus (schoulder). And therefore I can't really play so much as I would like to. Would love a lesson from you! Have learnt so much from your videos!
Always love any video talking about harmony - especially when you come across a common chord progression found across multiple genres! Love from South Africa 🇿🇦
So I have been watching your tutorial videos for about 6 months, you have really made a difference in my playing ability. Learning different progression has really expanded my creative thoughts. Keep doing what you do and I will keep watching and learning. 3/10/2024
Totally love this. Been looking to grow in my playing for worship. I feel like I can hear it but my brain gets stuck. Thank you for using your gift for the glory of God.
What a great way you have to deliver the message. Thanks for connecting up the link between Gospel & Jazz. Yes, of course, as you said, it is basically ii-V-i , but is there a cool story here about the 7-3-6 that I'm missing. Thanks, this was a joy to watch.
Hello, let me test my - mere - music theory knowledge: 7-3-6 in major key would be your 2-5-1 in the relative minor key ? Hence 2-5-1 in A minor and 7-3-6 in C major as per your example ? Does that mean that in Gospel you play in minor key but to the progression of the major key ?
I’m finally getting into progressions I’m self taught and always hear the progressions in my head but they take too long to get down from my mind to my hand. Thanks for this now I can label in my head these progressions and what they sound like 👍
As an intermediate typ keyboard player i find your lessons both inspirational and helpful. You are clear and concise in your teaching thank you for helping me....I need it!
I really appreciate this video especially because you included the error in the progressions. Shows that it takes work to get their.Bro. Big thumbs up.
This is a great lesson. I use this progression going to any minor scale degree. The only progression you need to know when learning 'Calling my name' by Hezekiah Walker
Thank you for the different way to play this progression. This channel is very helpful with playing and understanding how to play for singers! Have a blessed weekend.
I want to thank you for this lesson so much! Now I can feel the Gospel sound for the first time. I'll need lots of practice to get this flow for all inversions and also seventh 9#5 and min7b5, BUT... I'm already excited to try this out! Just the 7-3-6 will change my playing alot and gives a new flavor
Dude bravo you are really good I've been playing for 7 years now and yet everytime I watch you it feels like I'm being schooled never had a music teacher though learnt myself ..

+100 to this. Love this channel
Being a real musician
💯
Played this in mid altar call, the singer got lost and the pastor gave me that raised eyebrow look
😂
😂😂
:'D
Bruhh
Ha, I can see why that happen. Never good to lose the singer and the paster etc and it can mess up the flow as well really quickly

I'm not christian, I'm not religious. But these progressions really touched my heart.tyeyre nice and beautiful. And you are very skilled and talented.
+1 to that. The chords and harmonies in Gospel really touch one's heart regardless of religion or faith.

2:16 Why use degrees?
3:25 7-3-6 Progression Demo: 7half-dim → 3Dom7 → 6min7
_On the 3, he altered it a little to give it flavor, with a #9 and #5, but 3Dom7 works, too (although the ornaments are better)_

Great summary / notes
yourre amazing
Listen! Your comment is underrated! Super - underrated. Bless you loads!
A lot of people would edit the mistakes out but I actually learned more in adapting it to a specific song. I've struggled with making melodic fills like that. Really appreciate the video.
I've been playing contemporary for a while and I've been feeling bored with just playing 6-4-1-5 this will help me a lot thank you so much
I totally agree with you. Today's christian music is so boring especially those hillsongs all the way 6-4-1-5 or 4-1-5-6 🤕
instead of 6-4-1-5 u can do
6-2-5-1-4-7-3 in case of Am =
Am7 (A7b9) Dm9 - G7b9 - Cmaj7 - Fmaj7 - Bm7b9 - E7b9 -> Am7 (root)
between those chords u can also pley passing chords
Am7 (A7#9) Dm9 (D9/F#) G (Dm7) (C#13) or (C#maj9) Cmaj7 (F#9b5) Fmaj7 B7#5#9 E7#5#9 to Am7
there are a lot more progressions in this socalled circle of 4th's

So intuitive, brother! So precious is this method... I liked a lot. God bless you. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
May God continue to increase and bless you sir your lessons have taken me this far untill i now play for my church.
I'm not particularly religious, but I'll play this to my girl to show her I worship her.
Seriously?
Always fun playing in CCM churches and throwing in some flavour and seeing the reaction to something "new".
This is great! Keep these videos coming so you can keep equipping us worship leaders with more flavors in worship!
I truly admire your playing I hope that one day I can be even half as good as you are. I'm just starting out but don't have a teacher yet so thanks for the content you put out

Hey, 😀it’s a matter only of practicality. Gospel musicians can shout changes live and it’s not practical to say 2-5-1.
2:03 That run up to F sounds like the Thomas the Tank Engine theme song.
I subconsciously heard that 😂
haha!
Brother you are making me to fall in love with ur teaching, if consistently follow u i will be a wicked pianists. GOD¡¡¡
I'm 21 and would like to improve, I'm now just past beginner level.
Keeping these advanced movements real. Thank you ✌🏾

Does that mean that in Gospel you play in minor key but to the progression of the major key ?
Yeah you basically dip into the key of A minor for a bit.
Thanks for showing these chord links. They take the mystery out of playing gospel piano accompaniment.
