I’ve been playing since the 90’s and never knew where to “place it” until now! Undisputedly your best tutorial. Yes 6 seconds answered 20 years of unknown! Thanks man!
I’ve played keys since the early 2000s and what I’ve learned under Sean has been amazing and given some context to some moves I’ve used over the years but never knew the theory behind it. Totally agree with you!
Thank you Sean. I only play by ear but I see and hear what you’re doing and can apply it. Love some of those chords, so expressive and from the look on your face you like em too it seems ☺️. Thanks again ! Bless you.
I've always used this only on the 5.....and always thought of it as playing the 5-1 on the left and the 2 minor chord in first inv..on the RT.......then resolving the LT one note, and the RT (middle note) one or two, depending on the sound you want..... Thinking of it as a single chord....does make it easier to transpose...and play on other scale tones.... Thanks for sharing the knowledge. -The Transpose Expert
Check out the link in the description, I have uses of it there that show that it doesn't always have to go on the 5, however, the 5 is the easiest for sure if someone is starting out. Thanks for the comment bro!
Classic gospel move. Kinda hard to hear for people who haven’t developed their ear. Very useful for adding flavor to your playing. Awesome video, Sean. 😊
Sean Great video as always. A little constructive criticism, your over the shoulder Cam is not exposed properly, you can’t see the white keys, it all blown out. It defeat the purpose of showing your hands. I’ve seen few of your videos like that. You need to set the exposure and Lock 🔐 it. That way it won’t shift when lighting conditions change. Thanks.
One of my favorite tricks! The same halfstep sliding move works on 11's and 13's too, for example Cmaj7/D slides down to Bmaj7/D giving you this wacky Stevie Wonder sounding poly chord :D slap some tritones down there in your left hand and you really got some HIP STUFF going on.
Hi bro Sean Wilson, I always watching your videos and Godbless you brother I learned a lot from u!🔥❤ May I know what kind of Piano Software u have? Im using M-Audio Keystation 88 II, and running softwares on my Laptop (Windows) like KONTANK (Alicia Keys, Giant Piano,) and EZKeys Collection, but Im really like your piano sound. May I know? Please? 😇 Greetings from the Philippines🇵🇭
@@BlessedOne686 sure, anytime the word 'sus' is used, it usually OMITS the 3rd note. Dominant chords include the 3rd note... a chord can never be both dominant AND sus because either they contain the 3rd note or they do not.. D9 is D-F#-A-C#-E and D9sus4 is D-G-C-E, the F# is not there in the sus chord

Superb quality
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this move wondering how it’s done...you’re a major blessing ✊🏾
Yeah, the struggle was trying to find a title to explain this stuff
You are an amazing educator, Sean. Thank you for connecting theory with the soul =)
Appreciate it man!!
I’ve been wanting to learn this movement for a while! Thanks Sean please keep these type lessons coming✊🏾

You can even use is as an, almost, rootless 2-5 as part of a major 2-5-1. Sounds lovely

Hey!! Greetings from GUATEMALA
welcome man!!!
I heard some brother using 9sus 4 on great is thy faithfulness hymn
We also can use the 9sus4 to go to the 4, in this case the 4 would be Bb (in the key of F of course) 😉
you're saying the same thing lol, F would be the Dominant of Bb, *you're just changing the direction

Wow amazing

I’ll try that, thx
I think the Dom flat 9 resolved nicely to a minor chord while the Dom 9 resolved to a major
So many Movements like this we hear butnall kinds descending and ascending
Hi Sean...
Pls can u do tutorial on slurring and grace notes🥺
🔥🔥🙏🏾
Sean you should react to Sarah Paik she’s a great pianist/organist
Maravilloso

Can you drop that beat you were playing over at 4mins 🙏🙏

I don’t particularly like the sound of the Alicia Keys patch. I use Keyscape
@@SeanWilsonPiano oh thank you brother keyscape❤
that chord at 2:31 is exactly the same as the first chord in intro by j cole
Do ya'll realise this is the same movement he broke down from travis sales on another video 🙌🔥
Tus concejos
I always see 9sus4 chords but not 9sus2 chords
That's likely because the 9th note and the 2nd note are the same note
@@SeanWilsonPiano Wait, I just thought of something. A D7 sus2 sus4 includes the 9(E) but it’s called D7 Sus2sus4, not D9sus4. Can u explain that?

@@SeanWilsonPiano So D7sus2sus4 is really the same as D9sus4? It’s just a different way of naming the chord but the same notes?
D9sus4 = D11
I stole this from one of your other videos! 😅
I don’t even remember doing it but that’s dope man!
