I had a thought regarding your custom relay settings...would it ever be possible to make this a speed dependent option? my thought was operating e-fans - we don't usually need them going down the road but they still sometimes run due to a/c switches or t-stat readings. would be nice to be able to shut off the fans at

      We don't want you to have to connect your phone every time to use it. Your phone or tablet is the only thing that has speed, the Carb Cheater box has no speed feature built in.

My question is will this help my engine run cooler? Seems that I have one set of settings for cooler weather and another set for hot weather.

    • @carbcheater
      @carbcheater  10 месяцев назад

      In theory it wouldn't make your engine run cooler, but it will help it run more efficiently, so maybe? Not something my vehicles have issues with. It will help a lot with outside temperature swings causing carb issues.

  • @burneddrz

    in order to be in autotune mode does it have to be connected to the app? meaning you have to connect everytime you drive the car or does it keep the last selection even after truning off app and car?

      It just keeps the last settings. The app is just there to change the settings on the actual device.

    Wondering if this would help my 91 toyota with 22re. Factory AFM sucks for giving the right afr mixture. Saw videos where some guy had put a adjustable honda ecu and throttle body and got 50 more hp out of his 22re.

    if the carb cheater is allways on and dialed in .at the morning when its cold and i have to use my mechanical choke(quickfuel double pumper 650 mechanical secondaries and mechanical choke)
    will the carbcheater trying to overcompensate the mechanical choke(get the idle leaner while it needs to be richer as choke?)
    Or does it have a watertemp sensor?
    or do i always have to switch on the screen and shut the carb cheater of when cold choke start?

    • @carbcheater
      @carbcheater  11 месяцев назад

      You need the choke because a cold carb runs really lean. The choke just brings it down to a normal AFR at startup. This should not mess with the choke at all, if anything it will help it.

      You may need to play with the target idle settings, but it should work just fine with any choke. I use mine with the manual choke all the time.

      You would have to be careful with the plumbing, especially if there isn't a common plenum intake manifold. You'll need to assure there is the same airflow to each carb.

    Do you recommend setting the carb to run a little richer?

    • @carbcheater
      @carbcheater  9 месяцев назад

      That's up to you I typically try to set it a smidge richer. Something like 14-14.5 cruising and 13 idle. That way if the Carb Cheater fails it's still drivable.
      Saying that, that's typically where most carbs are set out of the box.

    • @65sohc
      @65sohc Месяц назад

      It can only make the mixture leaner. It can't make it richer than whatever your carb is tuned to at baseline Therefore it would make sense to dial your carb in on the rich side and let Carbcheater take it from there. That is what I'm doing. I have a 406 sbc with AVS2, RPM Airgap, fuel return line, and Progression Distributor. I've played around quite a bit with the mixture rods and step up springs. Drivability is really good though cruise AFR is 12.8-13.2. Half throttle mid-range acceleration will dip into the 11's so I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do.

      The vacuum setting is very much so adjustable. I must have said that incorrectly. I normally have my carb cheater vacuum setting set to 8 or so.
