I want this re-edited so Ben vs James is happening in another room, and you just cut away to bits of their endless games of James ever more frustrated tries to win one game inbetween Bens' gitty joy of tanking the game with Companion Cage, while the rest of the event happens, ending with everyone else going home, while Ben and James have their endless escape from Compaion Cage.
this is by far my favourite thing that you have done with mtg. thanks for doing it again and huge props to the mtgneuralnetwork community who put all the work in.
Upon returning to this I'm blown away that the A.I. decided to name the "everyone loses the game card" Companion Cage. It's such a good name! Also, the wrath that uses Awaken as a downside is actually interesting card design (although maybe not game design) and again, I can't believe that the A.I managed that.
Nelson was wrong on Marabrely's Gist. It enters the battlefield, which is when any zone change triggers for ETB would occur, at which point it is itself a creature. It definitely should get a counter from itself entering the battlefield.
This was fantastic! Like, if I'd just read the set of these cards, I'm sure I would've gotten a few chuckles here and there, but seeing all of your reactions, combined with what it was like to actually play them, elevated the cards to high-level hilarity! I'm not kidding when I say that the belly laughs from this resonated all the way to my bowels. I look forward to the commander game. :D
The amount of work done to get this content for us is amazing, this sort of stuff renews my hope for Magic players even when some news from WotC aren't all that great. Also, Ben being a frigging wildcard and James losing it was very funny.
This was amazing, love RoboRosewater cards. And despite all the chaos, one of my favorite cards was the creature enchantment that exiles a different creature. When you first read it, you think it's a silly combination of words, but it actually makes sense as a downside to oblivion ring style cards. And it's amazing that MTG's design space has so many unexplored nooks and crannies.
i wonder when graham realised he had an infinite mana combo in his pool. he has a creature that costs 1 to untap and gives 2 mana when it does and an equipment that lets a creature tap for any colour.
carevain sanctum - that land that tutors lands by discarding a card - is super cool. its like a weird terrain generator, where it doesn't cost mana and can turn any card into a land, but also doesn't itself add mana. would be an EDH staple for sure
This was by far my favorite draft, and this set is actually surprisingly balanced for how bonkers powerful it is! I understand curating these cards is a long process, but I can't wait for the next set! MORE ROBOROSEWATER!!!! Also the Art is gorgeous in a Salvador Dali surrealist sort of way. I think building a Plane around this crazy aesthetic, with it's own rich lore, would be so much fun!

@@Shadowlynk Sure, but I kind of want to see the specific cards that are in play on the stream, as I watch the stream. I probably will go look at them all later! wow, finally getting close to the end of the vid. the key factor I learned from this vid is that mtg players need to study the spoiler cards weeks in advanced so they know what cards will do at launch, otherwise they are illiterate at the table.
A lot of these cards would be excessively powerful if actually printed. That being said, I do like Sanguine Rats for being an alternate universe Mulldrifter.
3:40:23 To roll a D32, you would roll a D8 and a D4 and label the sides of your D4 as 0, 8, 16 and 24 (and the D8 as 1-8 as usual), then add the numbers together after rolling. This way there is a unique combination of rolls for each number between 1 and 32. It's the same principle as simulating a D100 using two D10s, where one is the 10s digit and the other is the 1s digit In this case you could also just roll a D8 and count 1-3 as 1-12 on the 32-sided die. Which we can see corresponds to this method if we do the reverse and leave the D4 as 1-4 and relabel the D8 as 0, 4, 8, 12, ..., which means that the first three numbers on the D8 corresponds exactly to the numbers 1-12 after adding a number between 1 and 4 to it.
i'm fairly sure the crew cards were both seeded with the name, the colour and that is has to be a creature. all the colours allign with their Friday Nights colours.
D32? Flip 5 coins and read as binary. Or roll a d4 (times 8) plus a d8. Or roll two D6's, multiply the first by 6 and reroll if >32. Or roll a D100 (which exist!) and reroll if >32.
I am loving this video (holy cow, Kewne Radial is incredible), in spite of the fact that I can't freakin' read any of the cards in the draft because Graham has them perfectly angled to reflect the light behind him directly into the camera and all of the cards read nothing but "glare"! Planesculptors has a list of them so all I need to do is pause and unpause the video repeatedly until I can read the name of the card, and then Ctrl-F for them. Technically functional! Ben vs James brilliantly displayed why "nobody wins" is such a strong archetype. Truly a team effort!

James with one of the fairest decks you could get out of the Robo cards and he has to face that
