I dunno. While its positive, they pretty much declare from the start that the movie's cheese fest, and it sounds like the film never elevates above just that. 7.5 seems pretty appropriate.

@@warrioroffpeace3673 yes, but if the movie never elevates above being cheesy and surface-level entertaining, why should it get a higher score than that? The market's already flooded with these things, its over-saturated to the point where it's gotten stale for many people. If the movie doesn't bring much new, why should it be given a higher grade?
@@NathanDrakeTheGreat the visuals, underwater world building and action setpieces alone bring something new. This is far better than a majority of the marvel movies, but slap a marvel logo and it will be a higher score.
I see those points brought up in Marvel films too. Hell, Into the Spider-Verse is perhaps the most refreshing DC/Marvel film to come out all year. I'm just saying, aesthetics/visuals alone don't make a movie amazing for a lot of people. It makes for a great theater watching experience granted, but beyond that there's not much else original or engaging. The story sounds structurally burrowed from other already established origin films like Thor and Black Panther. I haven't seen it, but if that's anything to go off, it'll be fun but hardly groundbreaking for the genre. I think the 7.5 seems fair, despite the lack of any major criticisms.

I saw Aquaman last weekend. It’s already showing here in China. I’m so disappointed! I’m disappointed that it’s not longer. I enjoyed every part of it and wanted to see more. It is also the only superhero movie that I want to watch again in the theater. I hope they’re already making Aquaman 2!

@@Hardrive2677 The director envisioned Aquaman in his own way while still maintaining respect to its source material in terms of story and design. Easily deserves a 9/10 for its ability to redeem a rocky start for his character in Justice League (thanks Josh Wedon and Warner Bros.)

The Thor movies all did a poor job of depicting Asgard, IMO. It never once felt like a real place to me.
The first two were pretty bad at it but Ragnarok was great.

Ikr?! We know more about Wakanda in one film than we know about Asgard in a trilogy. I actually felt Wakanda was its own living breathing character can't say the same for Asgard.
I didn't really care for thor ragnarok. The visuals were nice and the direction was cool but the story was so forgettable
Shook Shivers Asgard was filled with problems in the Thor movies.
The lack of visual flair and identity, there were no cleverly designed architecture as there was in atlantis. It was missing those beautiful design quirks than brought Atlantis to life.
The gigantic statues, the majestic light thingies across the kingdom.
Asgard never felt like a true place. It did't have it's own politics, it never had its traditions, it's own people(people in Asgard just felt like people from Earth). Asgard never felt like its own world, while Atlantis did feel like one right off the bat.

Reviewers are people with their own tastes so even if they watch more or play more than the average person they have their own preferences that color their experience. That preference is not going to match everyone. The best way you can gauge if it's something you want to see is find a reviewer whose tastes match your own. Or you can listen to more than one review and watch it based on whether it's merits appeal to you.

There was too much black Manta in this movie if you asked me. I'm a comic book fan, and to me, it felt he was a cheap agent for hire with no real purpose. He shows up in the middle just to get beaten really easily. It would've been better for him if they only showed his first scene in the sub and did the rest in the next movie. @@AnshulRaman That's how he always started in relation to Atlantis. He's always been a mercenary for hire for King Orm. Do you even read comics? Many times Orm has used his services to stage attacks on Atlantean to stir up the pot.
Because he was literally set up to be important to this films story. Then he was literally just sent away in the 2nd act of the film. That's not how Marvel does it. There was no resolution. They introduced a villain then he disappeared for no reason.

Aquaman is the exact direction DC need to move in... One of the best DC movies since this whole reboot... cinematography CGI all of it works great. Loved it! Definitely not a 7.5... 8.5+
First of all, never trust IGN to review a movie. Second, Aquaman did just make more than 90 million in the box office on opening day in China with nothing but great comments. Sooooo, sorry IGN but I think your score is invalid.

Before they started doing all these Superman vs Batman movies they should've started with a base and made movies about the backgrounds of each character to get a feel of who they are first because it just feels like they're smashing random things together.

I loved the film. The only issue I had was the visual effects. Looked alot like a Robert Rodriguez flick. A bit dated in a sense. All in all, it didn't really effect my viewing experience. DC is back baby! This movie was awesome!!

unfair! this movie rocks! it reachs 600M CNY box office in 4 days in China, its the best superhero movie in the last 2 years. even better than Avengers3. I strongly recommend you to take your family and watch it, you sure will want to watch it twice or more!

@@Lucas-mm2wn I think Huangboris was referring to RMB (Chinese Yuan). His statement, by leaving the currency out, is very misleading. Up to day 4, China's box-office takings is now a very respectable $107.6 m, overtaking all the other DC films' final grosses.
I appreciate using an expansive vocab but when she calls the movie a fish stew and says "managing to keep this overloaded ship from capsizing and concocting something palatable from all those parts" is a bit wordy.
