Idea: you pay a one time NFA fee of $200 and you are placed on a list to be able to purchase and own immediately all NFA items. This is a compromise republicans should push for and pass. We need incremental victories.
I've been holding out on the NFA game for awhile. Most of the people I shoot with have form 1s and form 4s and they warn me, once you dip your toes in and get approved on your first, you just head dive into it and before you know it you're waiting on another 5 suppressors and 2 SBR lowers. Waiting to get my cherry popped on a RC2 556. Still waiting, going on 21 weeks now. My wallet is engulfed in flames right now.
I'm on my first wait as well for form 4. Got a Flow 556k. My form 1 came back in 12 days, but the wait for the first can is brutal lol. I'm only like 11 weeks in.... it sucks haha. You should be getting pretty close judging by the average wait times on the nfa megathread.

The rules make no sense until you realize that they are not intended to curb crime but to 1) secure government jobs and billable hours for lawyers; 2) appease politicians who want to "do something," whether it makes sense or not; 3) continually condition the population to accept control and regulation. It is far easier to knuckle down on law-abiding citizens than it is to actually fight crime. The vast majority of gun crime is gang-related and done with pistols.
I'd never thought of the transferrable machine gun thing from the investment standpoint, that's interesting. I'd love to hear what someone like The Collector thinks about the NFA going away. He probably has half a million dollars or more invested in transferrable machine guns. I'd like to hear what he would say about the NFA going away (what he really thinks, not what he has to say to his followers). And I agree, there should be approval for the person if we have to do NFA. A person's first NFA item might take however long to do a background check. After that, you've been cleared. Let the person buy more NFA items. I have a government security clearance for my job. I've had more background checks done on me than most people. If the government trusts me with secrets, they should trust me to buy a suppressor without a new background check.
