    I've ridden both, and both are awesome scoots. Most of my riding is on the highway, plus I'm getting old and been banged up over the years, so I have to say that I love my RG. Don't think that I would ever be without one.

    A year ago I had to choose between the two and after a test ride on each the choice was easy. The Road Glide is to me the far better model for long distance riding and I love spending as much time on it as I can. In fact I'm about to head off on a ride right now!

      I do a lot of riding in the Northwest,, there’s areas here where wind will come up , high gust ect. My RoadGlide Special cuts right through it , not a problem,,, able to ride from full tank to reserve, if I choose , an not have to stop. Bike is super comfortable! 2016 RoadGlide Special 103 cubic inch.

    Both of these bikes are now different in 2016. And they both changed again in 2017..with the new Milwaukee 8 engine. And as Harley keeps changing..the price has gone over the moon.
    Way over the moon too. I want a Streetglide it handles the wind just fine on Highways here in Kansas..where the winds are moving everyday. To each his own...all newer harleys are very heavy now too! Which is the shits!..they dump easily..fyi..everyone has a opinion...just like assholes..everyone has 1 of those too...just buy tha damn bike and go for your own ride..

    Hey sockhead! I have the 2016 street glide special and just rode across the whole U.S. last summer and never once had that “streetglide shuffle” passing any big rigs and I’ve passed many triple rigs at 80 + mph. I can honestly say it’s the best ride for traveling. I sat on a road glide before purchasing the street glide and being 5’6 the reach was too far for my comfort. With the Street glide everything is up close and personal! So I’d say the only difference between the two bikes is how tall and big the rider is that would determine which bike to choose (and of course their preference in looks and ride). Will be down in Florida again soon and will pop in to say hi!

      Road Glide must have been designed for those who prefer highway vs EXPERIENCED slow maneuvering with the Batwing. Batwing is just better for wheelies and bustin' u-turns on the fly. PS: there's no "buffering" that the RG riders claim that make the SG riders less comfortable.

    Not really sure how one can say the 2014 sg handles worse than a RG. I owned a RG now a street glide special and I will say for certain wind affected my RG worse than my street glide special. The RG does handle better than the 13 and earlier sg models. I am 6ft and 225 lbs and my street glide special fits me perfectly. Either way you go both are awesome bikes.

I love this bike and ride daily. It gets a lot of looks. If you buy this bike, don't pay more than 40k and definitely get the extended warranty, tire, towing and service deal if you ride often.

    I dont like those modern glides without the back crashbars. If you drop the thing, and sooner or later you will, it's gonna cost a bundle to repair those exhausts and hardbags. So lose that stupid radio and put on crashbars, a 4 point docking system, luggage rack and sissy bar.Then it becomes a real tour bike. These bikes are for riding you now, and not for showing off.

    Is serving beer at a motorcycle dealership really a good idea? A couple weeks ago at a dealership not far from Rockstar, a rider crashed and died shortly after enjoying the free beer and riding a short distance from the shop, hitting a curb. Road Glides are ugly as hell

    • @REM44MAG
      @REM44MAG 6 лет назад

      I find it to be the contrary. I also find normally dipshits ride/own street glides. Not the case with all owners and riders, some are cool dudes, but they just don't have good taste. See, I like function over useless junk bling, which this guy with his chains and jewelry isn't winning any points with me... But in my opinion the "batwing" really serves no purpose, it probably only makes the bike more unstable in some situations. If you ever learned to ride a sportbike on a track you would know you want very little to no force being applied to the handle bars. In short, Batwing + tight turns + bad winds = bad day. So, to me because it serves no function other than being a hazard, it looks like shit. The road glide looks pretty cool, and its fairing is fully functional.

    I currently own a 2008 Ultra. I am 6'2" and when I ride this bike I feel a little close to the fairing. There isn't a lot of space between me and the fairing/windshield. I rode a 1985 Tour Glide for 20 years. Like the Road Glide, the fairing gave me more room up front like he said. If I was to get another bike, I might go back to the frame mounted fairing. (Road Glide) Having said that, I still love my Ultra.

    Road a 2015 ultra from Pennsylvania to California in 2017, then road a 2017 road glide from Pennsylvania to California in 2018. Absolutely no comparison, Road glide way better. Better ride better handling better everything. I'd never go back to the faring hanging on the handlebars.

  • @gerhardjinks6581
    @gerhardjinks6581 8 лет назад

    The wind has to blow awful hard to notice the windpressure on the handlebars. I have never noticed it in 30K of riding on my Ultra. The streetglide light bends in corners to illuminate where you are going and doesn't point straight ahead in corners like the roadglide. Looks are subjective but most people aren't enamored with the roadglide fairing. The previous version was much better looking. Having said this I would definitely consider the roadglide when/if I make another purchase.

    I dont se the problem here, - it must be storm if this effecting your driving. I live in Norway, and drive along the coast mostly, and the biggest problem is the tall "sails" - windscreen some HD,s have. I had to cut mine so I am not blown off the road when I meet a trailer or bus. In addition, I dont like to have the roadwiev through the "sail" as well as the visor.

    This guy didn't talk about one of the biggest differences between a Street Glide and a Road Glide in my opinion. There is a big difference in the front end feel when you are coming to a stop. The Road Glide is heavier up front (at least it feels that way to me) and for me to keep it lined up just right I use the front and rear breaks differently. With a Street Glide I just use a combination of the two all the way through the stop.

    Great video! I was shocked when Riding a Street Glide at the Harley on Tour Testride Event in Germany. Not because the bike was awefull... but because I enjoyed it so much and felt it hat more torque than a dyna with less vibration.
    I disliked the whole infotainment system at first, too... The more I think about getting a second bike, the more I want a bagger. Would be a great contrast to my Hayabusa Sports Bike.

    I have a 2017 Street glide Special . I don't care for the guage setup on the RG . Two of the guages are separate from the fairing and turn with the forks , and I don't care for the large space under the fairing . The fairing looks too far from the rider . I'm sure it is fine from an operational standpoint . Personal preference is the SG .

    Rode both here in North Texas in high winds and found the wind buffeting affect between both types of fairings is negligible. It’s down to how you feel behind the fairings and the look you love. Test riding will help only marginally but the final decision is always a tough one because both of these two bikes are so sweet to look at. What will inspire you most is what you love to look at most. That will be your decision.

      I'm 6,1 260 with fairly long arms the Road Glide Ultra was my choice. I personally like the body mounted fairing better it keeps the wind from underneath buffeting so bad.

      backroadjunkie I think he may have been referring to the fairing...the RG does give more room. The batwing is a little closer. Being 6'7" I can relate to his point.

    I test rode both of them and I even rented the Street glide and I ended up with the 2016 Indian Chieftain. I absolutely love it. It's better balanced, better rear suspension and lower center of gravity and an awesome adjustable windshield...and many others.

    I used to ride a Street Glide, then bought the exact 2016 Road Glide in this video. For me, the difference in the ride and handling of the Road Glide wins hands down. I am a taller rider and the new Road Glide just fit me better, and I've noticed on long trips I am not as tired when I get off the bike.

      +John Stone- Is the LED screen tougher to see on the RG? With it laying down instead of upright on the SG, does it pick up more sun? Is wind coverage behind the fairing different?

    i rode both bikes before i bougth my SG...the RG rode ok,dont like the way the ligths didnt turn with the handbars...also it looks like a snow mobile with a wheel on it...

      Headlight does not turn with handlebars is the biggest complaint non-owners have. Not sure what type of automobile you drive but my Jeep and my Chevy headlights don't turn with my steering wheel but I still see just fine when turning.

    you make no sense, when everything is pushed out you are more likely to lean forward then back..lol...the roadglide feels like you have more space because the fairing is further from you but the main difference is the type of handle bars that the bikes come with, the roadglides are further back then the streetglides..

      I was thinking the same thing lol. Different handlebars, and maybe just a little difference in the way the wind blast effects you depending upon what type of windscreen you get and that's about it. Same leg room, same sitting position, so wtf?

    Scott Placella... Yes, the RG's GPS screen is not viewable from the sun due to its angle. We flew out to Clolorado last week and rented a RG and SG. Both were 16 models. The RG has serious GPS issues in the sun. As we were not familiar with the area, it was a bit of an issue is the RG was in the lead. I am considering one of these in the future. I came away thinking SG as I like the handle bar position better. To me it seemed like the SG fit a larger person better as the bars do not come back towards you as much as on the RG. As I rode both and still have not fully decided, its a personal fit choice. They are both awesome.

      I agree with your assessment. Rented both several times trying to decide and still haven't made up my mind but it will be a 2017 model. Test ride them if you haven't already ;-) RG had better sound if you like listening to music.

      Tim Murphy I thought the streetglide music sounded better because the speakers are closer to you and more out of the wind.
