John Petrucci is such a Savage in that moment, raises his arms, gets cheers, saves the daY!!...a few seconds later...*hand held out* "Hold on imma go handle this!"
I just saw them last night at the Revention Center in Houston and I was blown away by the show! Mike Mangini was spectacular and the connection between them all was astounding!!!
I would've never thought a drum and keyboard showdown during a technical difficulty would sound so f***ing awesome. They definitely need to write that as a legit song.
That bit at 1.38 needs to be on next album😜. I read somewhere on twitter that some people think they aren't playing live because of the ticker tracks they have which adds backing vocals etc . I think that rumour can be put safely to bed!
I was there. Actually up a but higher and probably a bit farther back. Still was amazing. I love the tech difficulties. James fell during the first song last time I saw them. Now I gotta have a big fuck up each show cuz it's fun.
This incident of JR & MM was similar to the show I saw with just JP & JR in NY. They purposely improvised essentially a whole song, right on the spot (announced to the audience that was what they were going to do.) I imagine it was the closest thing to seeing how DT writes a song. It obviously would've needed work, but it came off pretty damn good.
These things happen. Sometimes for the best. Went years ago to a Duran Duran show and the keyboard player hit the wrong botton on the sequencer. He apologyzed and played the rest of the show hands on. They extended and improvized their songs. Pretty cool. A Dream Theater tech difficulty is a good excuse for them to have fun.
Had the opportunity to go see them in NC today but dad broke the plans. All I want to do in life is to see DT live since I was just little never have had the opportunity
They improvise during a technical difficulty and it's still more complex than anything most bands can write. DT can't be touched.
They're gay af.
@@googlewantstoknowyourlocat1115 😂😂😂😂 shut the fuck kid, go listen to some trash edm and don't stop into our realm.
Google Wants to Know Your Location what’s the problem with being gay? I’m confused.
Google Wants to Know Your Location strong words coming from a SKRILLEX
Dream theater fans are always so stuck up. Who the fuck cares how complex it is, sounds like shit 🤷♂️
Even the lighting person was having fun improvising in the moment! Lol
haha indeed
0:07 Dream Theater - Paralyzed
2:35 Encore
😂
"Scenes from a Technical Difficulty " ???
They should absolutely do this album.... !!!!!
eheheh yeah I agree!
I was enjoying that moment..
I remember when they played a concert where rudess’ Keyboard broke and he has to use a guitar. They named the Concert “When The Roland Breaks”
That just a DT moment, reason why I love them so much
from that JR and MM moment, you can get how MUCH Mangini is into the band. Absolutely awesome!
That's why his jam was great
Exactly! Like everyone is dissing him for taking over at drummer but IN MY OPINION Portnoy wouldn’t have been as quick to improv.
TMPanos96 oh! Thank you for letting me know! Are there any links to a video of it? I’d actually really like to see that!
Myung malfunctioned and had to walk off
😆
HAHAHAHAHA
He didnt has a sheet with notes ! Thats what soliders do when there are no orders from above , no creativity just tasking
He wasn't programmed for this sort of thing.
Myung awesome!!!
this is called real Technical Difficulty
At this moment, JR was thinking about his next solo album feat. Mangini on a Suite for Keyboards and Drums
1:45 John Myung: "Well, nothing to do here."
For more technical difficulties, please.
I kind of hope they can add short jams in between some tracks
loved how Petrucci reacted to the fail by simply saying, "ok"😂
1:40-1:55 was so bad ass!! I would love to hear that piece in a song.
This is how the new song from Emerson Lake Palmer could sound like.
thats actually a song called ball tongue by Korn
It may sound similar in structure, but I highly doubt that rudess listens to Korn
They could c all the song Technical Difficulty
My opinion, DT should have more technical difficulties! That drum/keyboard improv was awesome!
Better than all songs on the recent album
It's a good thing their show wasn't *paralyzed* by the technical difficulty.
They were surrounded by good musicians.
Good one hahahaha
At least they saw an opportunity to Take the Time and jam a bit.
Thank god none of them had a panic attack during the malfunction
That wouldve been a nightmare to remember
My god these guys are just so good. Like Rudess doing an improvised call and response with Mangini?! Incredible
2:04 Guitar shouts to two players to be quiet
This was by far the best concert I’ve ever been to. What an awesome band.
What a crazy Mike Mangini. Living legend. #GodofDrum 👍👍
1:45 - Myung - "Mom, these guys won't play with me ..."
Best technical difficulty moment of all time
I was there, and this is the part of the show that was the most memorable. The back and forth between Mangini and Rudess was so great to see live
2:20 JP: okay that's enough you two, we kno you're good. back to the song.
This show was incredible. I remember it like it was yesterday.
1:45 John Myung being like: "What the hack am i doing here?!"
When I saw them on the 1997 tour the guitars went down so they got a guy from the crowd to sing warpigs with them. Was epic.
They should just name their next album "technical difficulties". Seriously, that improv was just badass.
Rudess should form a duo band with mangini.. its just crazy
It would be Magic if John Myung started dancing n Throwing his arms up !!!
😂😂😂😂😂💦
they don't pay him enough to also enjoy these group masturbation sessions
Felippe Rodrigues that would make him alive.
@@metalhos I didn' t get it.
@@josephlamadrid1799 I't would b hilarious! !!!
James: Stop
John: Ok
Crowd: *WOOOOOOOOO*
Fun isn't something someone considers when balancing the guitar. But this, does put a smile on my face.
Pros, these guys. Not a big DT fan, but I know professionalism when I see it.
saw DT when I was about 7 in Vancouver 2013. Love Dream theater and I always will
Wow, you were 7? Lucky you. Parents must be proud ;’) best shows ever
This is what makes great bands in the moment improvisation regardless. Love it!
Technical malfunction and DT makes the best of it like only they can. Love it.
i though they would play "racer-x's song" ...
Quite the reference
me too :(
Me too, I was waiting for Paul Gilbert to come out on stage.
Me too fuck
Me too..
Pure gold. Drums sounded great! Thank you sir
John Petrucci is such a Savage in that moment, raises his arms, gets cheers, saves the daY!!...a few seconds later...*hand held out* "Hold on imma go handle this!"
This is the Dream Theater!
awesome jam when technical difficult...
1:45 I swear Jordan was thinking about Ball tongue by Korn while playing.
I knew I recognized that riff from somewhere! Thank you!
THIS is how you handle technical difficulties
Indeed ! How profesionals handle it
Mangini.....Holy shit...thats insane..
i like we need more technical difficulty....it makes epic and fun
I just saw them last night at the Revention Center in Houston and I was blown away by the show! Mike Mangini was spectacular and the connection between them all was astounding!!!
Technical difficulty, no problem, are the Dream Theater! I love you guys!!
Props to having a backup baritone laying around
JP is the last person with a shortage of guitars.
kronosecw he has a backup for every tunning for this exact situation
The handled that so well. Then right back to the song these are true professionals!
I will miss him. The Master
That chord at 3:33, perfect wall of sound.
Yea typical boogie. I love those amps.
The beauty of live music
technical difficulty, next thing you know the boys have teleported into the studio where they are having a jam out session! brilliant!!!
lol.. had the pleasure of seeing them many times back in the club days 25 years ago. I even still love "When Dream & Day Unite"
Jordan is insanely amazing so is like EVERYBODY IN THE BAND
this is what i define a real live group
Absolute musicianship.. what pros!
Beautiful
This why they are one of the best bands in live. Superb jam for save the issue and keep people warm :D
Only this band can take a technical difficulty and make it special. WAIT! One more...Liquid Tension Experiment.
WDF They didn't play that at our show and that's my favorite non track from the non existent album it never came from!
What songs did they play in the first act for you guys?
James sounded amazing!
this is why mangini is the G.O.A.T, along with Rudess
True entertainers. Incredible.
I would've never thought a drum and keyboard showdown during a technical difficulty would sound so f***ing awesome. They definitely need to write that as a legit song.
This happened several times in the past, but never a dull moment.

I would love to go to a DT concert to only watch them playing around lol
I love it
Good to notice that they're still humans after all :D Thanks for a great vid!
It's so funny when Myung walks off the stage. Like; "I've seen this before". 😂
Thank you for uploading this. Its my favorite song so far!
What a cool song name it is: Technical Difficulty
Wait until the full 13 minutes comes out
This was awesome. An extra bonus from the guys...I was in Mezz CC and laughing like crazy with a huge grin on my face.
I was expecting some Racer X performance but this was just as sweet. :D
I was there. Actually up a but higher and probably a bit farther back. Still was amazing. I love the tech difficulties. James fell during the first song last time I saw them. Now I gotta have a big fuck up each show cuz it's fun.
I'm seeing them next week, I'm so excited!

this video made me laugh myself to tears from pride that Im a dream theater fan
!
"I love you James!"
"I love you John!"
"Pls no!!!!!"
such a beautiful fuck up!
Mangini's kit sounds so badass!

Amazing band period!
This is a real bonus
Thank you for capturing this! I have to see DT live at some point...
And James NAILED it this show. At first it sounded like he was going soft to preserve his voice but Scenes was amazing.
True professionals!
Thanks for sharing! What an awesome show this was! DT crushed!
john: shit my gutiar aint working
also john: bye
Technical difficulties, not a problem for DT 😎
Amazing
Por algo son los mejores
Hey, Labrie sounds great!
This is professional...Regards
Amazing drum sound. I would love to see other bands with this type of problems and would they solved it. THEY'VE NAILED IT😂😂😂
¡¡¡¡INCREÍBLE!!!!
Professionals of entertainment no matter the circumstances!
This song is panic attacks spiritual successor
Myung had zero interest in joining JR & MM hehe
Had the opportunity to go see them in NC today but dad broke the plans. All I want to do in life is to see DT live since I was just little never have had the opportunity
"aight, ima head out" ~Myung
