Don't let a rotted seat stop you from buying a Bayou or any other quad. I had a seat recovered a couple years ago for under $100. If you have a seat recovered you can upgrade to a fabric with better UV resistance.
The pans can be hard to find for a few models, the timber wolf is pretty tough to find a good useable seat the bayou 220 seat isn't easy to find either.
So glad I found you - do you have any suggestions for an ATV, used and older is fine, with the focus of being able to haul around an ATV trailer for ranch chores? Good strong low end gears and reliability at the slow speeds. Older female here and been dreaming of getting a ranch ATV for a while. Getting harder to push those wheelbarrows of dirt and manure up the steep hills. Need to stay around the 2K price if possible
Kymco should be on the top of this list , being a supplier of parts for honda, kawasaki, harley, and even bmw , they have their own line of atvs from a 250 up to a 700 , sport and utility quads , and are very reliable . I have a maxxer 300 and i love it
All the Kymco quads i have messed with have some sort of issue with the transmission, probably 70% of the time. I am aware that they supply alot of the big brands, the Arctic Cat 250 like 08 + and the brute force 300 are kymco with big names on them for stickers.
ITs pretty much the same, the recons aren't much more than $4000 brand new for the foot shift model. I think about $5300 out the door. The recons are really easy to find a nice clean one from 15-2200 and if you negotiate well i think it can be had for less than asking price.
i have a 2002 recon been smokin for a while sunk it in a pond started it up and i havent had a day that it didnt start strong and pretty fast for a utility 250
The bear tracker and timberwolf are great units, the updated bruin 250 is the same thing as well with a better restyle of the fenders but i could only put 5 on the list and when it comes to bang for the buck the big bear is a better unit. In my area older big bears go for close to the same price of the bear trackers.
Bought a 250 Trail Boss new in 1997 and it’s been going strong ever since. Had a top end rebuild about 15 years ago. Wish it had an hourmeter just to see how many it’s had.
my queston is what year honda 4x4 quads dont have the same transmission is the 2001 forman rubicon 500 been triying to find a transmission in michigan at motorcy scrap yards and market place and there already all junk or 800 to 1200 if i find one my forman lasted 2 months never even went over 30mph or even went threw a mud pudle im ok with just getting a older 4 weeler if they have differnt transmission i need 4x4 here in michigan really been thinking on trying yamaha out looked at some Polaris people tell me polaris are junk but my 91 440 plolairs snowmobile never lets me down
The Hondamatic Transmission is Problematic, Most places that repair them barely give any type of warranty on the rebuilt part due to that. That honda matic would only be found in the Rubicon models and the 400AT. So any of the foot shift honda will not have that transmission set up. Yamaha makes a great machine as well as polaris but i would go 2000 or newer on the polaris since not alot of people know how to work on the older ones anymore.
What's the deal with ROTAX engines? Some say never buy one pre-2017. Others say different. Can ya give us a heads up as to what the ROTAX deal is? Thanks man.
I'm not sure I can help you, I don't know what SGD is or what that's worth in American dollars. I also don't know your local market, but some good choices would be the LTZ400, 400EX, DVX400, KFX400 and even the 300EX.
Did you ever replace the cam? Had nothing but issues with my 95 magnum. To the point where I almost dissed polaris forever. I run Polaris snowmobile but switched to Honda for ATVs
Man can u suggest a good sport atv just to have fun on. Not even legal to drive around on them where I live. So I’m just looking for one to have fun on? 🙏🏻 Cheap. don’t have to be to fast. Maybe just around 30-40mph. I know nothing about it tbh. I’m 28 and I just want one for fun ;) I’ve had fun with dirt bikes etc. when I was in my teens and early twenties.
The 250ex is pretty much the same as the Honda recon but didn’t come with racks. They are great machines and will do about 43 mph or so and can be found cheap. Other good options would be the 300ex, they aren’t as easy to find a nice clean one cheap but if you don’t mind putting in some work you can usually get them under 1k. Other options you could be a Suzuki lt230s, kawasaki Mojave 250 or the Yamaha warrior 350.
Would you say the Polaris 500s are the best used buy all around? Looking for a used atv under 3000 with enough power to excite me trail riding but needs to be reliable and cheap to fix . The 500 or foreman’s seem to fit the bill but the foreman’s seem to be slower and less power. I’ve ridden older 400 eiger and it was fast enough for me and a maybe big bear 350 and that was a little low on power for what I do. Any other models that fit my bill like the Polaris 500 or should I just shop those?
With $3000 I would try to find a deal on a sportsman 570. They aren't everywhere but they can be found for under $3000. Its quick smooth and comfortable. IT wouldn't be as cheap as an early model sportsman 500 but the newer 500 models have parts just as expensive as the 570.
Just because it says 500 doesn't mean it performs like a 500 should, from a reputable quad manufacturer. Polaris makes snow Toys that aren't bad. At least at one time they did. The Polaris 300 4x4 we used to own performed more like a Recon, and it was a 300 2cycle! So surely selling it for a 500 makes sense. And in doing that we discovered how lame Polaris was. Their 500 performed less than our Foreman 400. Not to mention our Polaris quads STAYED BROKE. Literally every year one of the two would be down for the season. Not so with any Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, even our KTM racing diet bikes stayed running longer and they were insanely modified and ran into trees yearly. First time we hit s tree going over 5 mph with the Polaris, it bent the f'ing frame where the steering head and stem joined.
Would you know where I can find a atv cheap I had one but someone hit me from behind and I saved up for 5 months I used it every day to get back and forth
I don't have any leads on a cheap one but this vide will show how i find deals on machines. Sometimes you have to be patient while looking around. ruclips.net/video/S4Rhw9F4IhE/видео.html
.NO avoid Polaris like it was a red headed stepchild with plague. The old 300s and 500s weren't complete garbage but the quality Is ridiculously less than any Japanese quad.
I'll admit that the harness set up on the beginning 500 sportsmans was pretty stupid but they were still well built and cheap to repair now. They are still a solid quad that can be bought for less than 2k and will last just as well as most of the japanese machines.
Awesome clarity, short, to the point.
Thank you!

I would recommend the Honda recon; they are tanks but if you need a ton of torque or 4wd you would likely need something bigger.

They will run for ever too as long as you keep oil in it.
If you're going to mention the Big Bear you should include its little brother, the Beartracker at the same time. It's just as reliable.
The bear tracker and timberwolf are great units, the updated bruin 250 is the same thing as well with a better restyle of the fenders but i could only put 5 on the list and when it comes to bang for the buck the big bear is a better unit. I love my little tank
2000 Suzuki king quad 300 4x4
Not much power but Gearing is endless and front locker
Never buy a polaris

Kodiak 400s are great too.
They are that's why they made them for so long!
just woundering what about a Suzuki?
The Suzuki's are usually the least wanted machines.
Hi Michael, what are your thoughts on a 2003 Suzuki Vinson 500 4x4 in great shape with 2500 miles on it ? Got a chance to by one in this price range.
Under 2k and clean? That seems like a great deal. The Vinson is a pretty stout ride!

I actually don't have much knowledge on the newer rotax, I wouldn't say that any of them are poor engines.
@@TheATVHustle I got a 2006 can am outlander 400 and it's been very reliable
What about Honda Foreman 400? Maybe the 450 Foreman foot shift? I think I like the 400 better.
Both of those are great machines, I personally would avoid the es version. They are pretty close to the same machine though.
@@TheATVHustle the 450 has selectable 2 wheel drive. I don't like the ES version either. Minor differences I guess between the Foreman 450 and 400.

The bearcat 454 was a piece of crap

Polaris should go back to that platform.. budget friendly. I don’t like Honda for the fact you’ve gotta shift . More stuff to go wrong .
The Hondas actually have less failure with the shifting vs the Polaris transfer cases.
