TV Companies wonder why nobody wants to watch their content anymore when RUclips is just like: "Here's a dude cleaning a roof, whatever you'll watch it!"
Thanks! I think. There is plenty more where that came from on this dude’s channel!😎👍🏼
I agree with you. This is an interesting video!
I only watch reruns of the 1950’s/early 1960’s show “Perry Mason” (M-F, 10:30-11:30p.m. C.T. on the MeTV cable channel).
Not gonna lie when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a thatched roof at first. What a difference afterwards.
It was a proper carpet of moss alright.😆👍🏼
@@aemackintosh More properly an "improper" carpet of moss.
Same here. My first thought was who can he clean a thatched roof?
😆👍🏼
Am I the only one who like the look of the moss on the roof😂😂😂
🤦🏻♂️
I liked it too but I know it's harmful.
I thought it would have added an extra layer of insulation to the roof
I am with you, I like looking at the way he is cleaning it 😆
@@seanconnell622 apparently, it holds water and shortens the life of the roof
Why is RUclips recommending these videos to me?and why am I sitting watching it?
😆🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for watching anyway.😃👍🏼
During this horrible time the fun part is watching the random recommendations that pop up, I saw this clicked and wondered why but watched the whole thing, amazing results and short enough not to get bored but interesting at the same time
Thanks! There is plenty more like this on my channel.😜👍🏼
@@Taz6688 during these trying times. during these unprecedented times. during these hard times. robot. i have a bridge to sell you if youre interested. real cheap
@@22KingRancher No idea what your problem is, but I do find loads to watch, disabled from a work accident and at risk due to illness I watch loads of strange stuff. TheBoatGuy, Nekkid Watchmaker, ProducerMicheal, DTTV studios, World of Tanks, Car repair channel like Chris Fix.
Someone took the time to record a process and did a good job I made a short simple comment, to show it was good as I watched the whole thing, if you dont like it dont watch.
Great video Ashley! Great when you get asked to quote and you turn up and it’s a bungalow😊I’ve been out spraying today with the trusty DA nozzle💪
Jimmy Woodward Keep up the good work.😃👍🏼
Well done Sir!! Ive not seen this kind of treatment before to a roof so it was very interesting to view....great job by the way and what an improvement indeed.
Cheers Andrew😊
Thanks for your comments.😃👍🏼
Bloody hell, it was a carpet!
Looks fantastic now 👍🏼
To the customer ‘that will be 1 million pound please’ 🤣
Faz Sadri 😃👍🏼
Another brilliant job as always Ashley love all your videos mate.
keen & Able window cleaning services Cheers, thanks, much appreciated.😃👍🏼
That's a great professional job done right there. Done some roof's back in the day and all we had was a small paint scraper, stiff broom and none of these chemicals but a garden hose. Happy New Years Day A.E.Mackintosh C.S and stay safe.
Thanks! Take care. Looking forward to 2021.😃👍🏼
Another great video Ashley! Well presented, nice balance of talk/work and regular speed/fast forward. Stay safe mate everyone loves your videos! :)
TEAM PRISTINE Thanks! I could do with a scaffold tower really for this kind of thing.😃👍🏼
@@aemackintosh Great idea, at the very least maybe a ladder work platform to reduce fatigue. Scaffold would be the way to go though for sure!
😃👍🏼
Amazing job. Well done Ashley👍🏻
Squeaky Clean Dave Thanks 😃👍🏼
youtube surprises me again with what i thought would never be a video id watch but did and loved it
Thanks! There is plenty more where that came from, on my channel!😎👍🏼
Just had to watch this video again. Amazing the state people will allow a house to get into! However, a tremendous job done there Ashley.
This was a big restoration project by the new owners.😃👍🏼
Nice to see someone doing the job properly without using jet wash which damages finish of tiles
Thanks. It can be tough going doing it this way. Better to get a proper scaffold tower too.😃👍🏼
Wow, Fantastic job, the result looks amazing 👍👍
Tattywatta Thanks 😃👍🏼
Would love to know how his heating bill changed, would of thought with all the moss and leaves it would of been a great insulation
There should be decent insulation under the tiles in the loft.😃👍🏼
Actually it will only hold moisture and in doing so keep the roof material cold . Hence heat transfer of the cold through into roof .
@@matthewking6509 I wasn't sure whether this was correct but I'm glad to see someone else with this assumption.
would have thought...….would have been
@@bemfawkes3214 no assumptions here it’s the whole reason for certain spaces and insulation’s used in homes all
To stop heat transfer .
Awesome job buddy. Doing well keep it up 👍🏻
Fun video. Thanks for posting!

For you too
What a great couple of tools for removing the debris. Just goes to show there really is a tool for every job.
Indeed.😃👍🏼
That's some good work...lots of patience your blessed with
Thanks!😃👍🏼
Great job. Well done for your hard work 😊
Thanks!😃👍🏼
Good work again Ashley, , with a roof tile being so pourus I would be giving 2 more spray follow up treatments, first after a decent rain , then a week after that I would spray and soft wash off at low pressure .. 👍👍
FlashTechEngineering Often I’m doing this for regular window cleaning customers, so I get to go back regularly to check on the progress of the roof.😃👍🏼
Dang ! At first I though this was a shingled roof and thought "Clean it , it probably needs replaced " . But then saw it was terracotta . . Good job
Thanks!😃👍🏼
Enjoyable video. Thanks!
Thanks.😃👍🏼
What a difference. I thought you’d have pressure washed it as well.
Maybe next time.😃👍🏼
Yup - I was waiting for that too.
@@Peter_Riis_DK Me too
The biocides treatment acts as a preventative and even improves the roof in the months to come. But I have been pressure washing roofs more recently instead of this scraping method.😃👍🏼
If I was the custy I would have wanted a pressure wash. But that's why you make a contract and hire someone worthwhile, or you can rent a pressure washer and do it right yourself, and drink beer or liquor while doing it.
Good job man. You have a very good tools...👍👍👍
😎👍🏼
This is so satisfying to watch 😂
Thanks!😃👍🏼
Thanks - great informative video.
Paul Hickmott Thanks for your comments.😃👍🏼
Fantastic job...! Great result.
coyoacan73 Thanks!😃👍🏼
Awesome job on the roof. Another solution as a biocide is putting zinc sheeting along the roof line. In the USA they sell a zinc product that is nailed in right below the ridge cap.
Good one. Thanks!😃👍🏼
Great Googly Moogly ! those are Tiny houses! I have my 3K ft house to do!
Many angles...Dude has the right tools. TY for video.
Thanks! All the best with your big job.😃👍🏼
Sooner you start the sooner you'll be finished.
Just imagine the weight load on the roof?
And in the winter it will hold water and risk cracking the tiles when it freezes. Good to get it cleaned.😃👍🏼
Brilliant work mate
Thanks!😃👍🏼
great video!
Cleanscapes Exterior Cleaning Thanks!
Another job well done 👍💪
Thanks 😃👍🏼
Great Job!
joshua cave Thanks.😃👍🏼
That was a totally great job. Big mess and nice when finished.
Thanks. It was a lot of hard work and quite a bit of clearing up after, but worth it.😃👍🏼
Not a typical problem we have across the pond in Canada but what an incredible transformation!!
Thanks!😃👍🏼
I would have started with a lawn mower and then a rake
😆👍🏼
Ive done over 1000 roofs now in Sussex, using the scraping method, however we use hook ladders, trowels and brushes, get the job done and customers always happy,
It’s always good when the customer is pleased with the work you have done.😃👍🏼
I took the sped up video for granted. Once it was slowed to real time and I saw how tedious the work was...😳
That scraping sound must not have been too pleasant either. But wow! What a transformation!!
It is quite hard work, but yeah, it sure made a big difference.😃👍🏼
I find it rather satisfying watching you clean the roof. Not sure I'd want to do it....must be hard work.
It’s a decent bit of graft fo sure.😃👍🏼
Awesome video, thanks

Fantastic job done 👍👍👍,
Thanks!😃👍🏼
😮😮😮I cannot imagine how much that must have weighed, especially when wet. Very satisfying to watch..TFS
Indeed, and it would hold the moisture against the tiles which can cause damage in the long run, especially when it freezes in winter. Worth keeping it clean.😃👍🏼
Yes
Quality vid mate!!
Thanks! There is plenty more where that came from.😜👍🏼
Great job
Aaron Dawson Thanks 😃👍🏼
There plenty of idiots that would take a jet wash up there and damage the tiles to the extent that it's nice to see somebody doing the job properly!
It would be well worth fitting some gutter guards with those trees in such close proximity.
Thanks!😃👍🏼
Good composting material 👍
Yes indeed.😃👍🏼
Mate I found your videos yesterday when I was searching for skyvac instructional videos, I have been binge watching since
Great content
I am considering starting a gutter clean business as I have been in roof treatment sales for 14 months now and see the need for someone to specialise in 2 story buildings, I have a sound grip of canvassing it being my primary sales medium and feel there is nobody out there canvassing door to door for gutter cleans in my region
We spray roofs for moss lichen and mould but I don’t think we would get on those old style concrete tile roofs either them being so brittle, one service we do provide after the roof is clean is a silicone coating to help with porosity of those types of tiles
Have you considered that service
great job 😎👍
Wollef der Fensterputzer Thanks 😃👍🏼
Bits of moss falls off my neighbours roof every week and everytime it rains. I cleaned the roof on my neighbours bungalow with a long pole with a wire brush attached on the end, bleach mixed with water and a hose pipe. It's been 3 yrs now since i cleaned it and none of it has come back.
That’s great.😃👍🏼
That was a great video thanks I don't know there was a scraper like that 😀 👍
Thanks!😃👍🏼
I think you'll find the scraper was designed like that to ensure you got to the bottom of the grooves. Good Job 👍
I think so. Thanks!😃👍🏼
It was like a forest lol. Well done 👍
Thanks.😃👍🏼
I got so excited thinking you would pressure wash the roof XD
I have been pressure washing them more recently. Video of that coming soon.😉👍🏼
Hi Ashley, just wondering if you have tried applying the Bioside with a old WFP brush head or has it always been easier with a nozzle..Thanks..
Ali Elder Yes, you could use a brush with fan jets is quite good, especially if you want to agitate the surface a bit. But the spray nozzle from DA Components that I use is especially designed to foam up the solution as you spray.😃👍🏼
Hells Bells ! That's the worst roof ever ! 😱
I'm thinking of starting doing roof moss removal. It's challenging because I find it a bit dangerous specially if I have to go on the roof. Do you have any tutorial videos on how to do a roof that you can't do from your ladder? Thanks!
I think i loved the moss. It looks nicer than bare tiles.
Fantastic!!!!
Chri.V Thanks!😃👍🏼
Good job 👍
Thanks!😃👍🏼
Good job mate. Only advice: you may want to consider some ladder standoffs so that your ladder isn’t leaning against that gutter…
Thanks, good idea. Check out my channel, there is a whole roof cleaning playlist.😉👍🏼
I remember a person bought a mid sixties bungalow in England. They changed the concrete roof tiles to slate. Never had to clean them.
Seems a bit drastic, but I suppose it does solve the problem.😃👍🏼
Geez your a patient man
😃👍🏼
Hi Ashley hope you’re well, enjoyed your video as all the others, helps me with my business.
Just a quick question how much do you charge for a roof that size you’ve done there? Thanks mark
Marcus Frost I basically charge per square meter, roughly. I put a link in the description to my video about how to quote for roof cleaning.😃👍🏼
Hello sir you giving the roof a good shave 😉
Thanks for all your comments!😃👍🏼
I guess it also depend depends what angle you hold the scraper. looks good
😃👍🏼
looks good
Thanks!😃👍🏼
Wow ! Seems like a impressive job .
😃👍🏼
70% of the roof clean the others 30% MUST come with powerwashing.
The biocide treatment means that the roof will continue to improve, and it also acts as a preventative.😃👍🏼
You shouldn't jet wash a tiled roof pal it will damage it, the correct way to do it is exactly how this man is doing this one.
Yeah gotta agree with the video, the biocide is the key here, a far better approach than just pressure washing the roof. I used a product called Roof Clear on my Bungalow, it did an incredible job and nothing has grown back for 2 years since doing it (I had more lichen than moss)
Brilliant video!
What hose do you use going up the pole?
Thanks
SH Pressure Washing Thanks. It’s a pretty standard 3mm wfp hose. A very long one.😃👍🏼
i thought the roof was thatched lol. well done , good job .
Thanks 😃👍🏼
Hi Ash are you trialling another spray nozzle ?how come you weren’t using the mp roller sprayer ? Great job btw👍
mark eggleton I prefer using the Marshall Pro sprayer when spraying from the ground. It can be a bit awkward using it from the ladder, so I’m using the nozzle from DA Components. There is a link in the description to a video about this setup.😃👍🏼
Almost looked like a thatched roof, great job x
Thanks.😃👍🏼
Does the skyscraper blades fit on SkyVac atom poles or do you need to buy the skyscraper poles for the blades to fit ?
Marc Walker You need a specific pole for the scraper, but it’s always best to check directly with Spina Clean so you get the right setup.😃👍🏼
Great video, first one I have watched. After putting the chemical down did you just leave it or have to rinse it off at some point?
The biocide is applied and left on the surface to act as a preventative. I hope you enjoy my channel and find it useful.😃👍🏼
more satisfying than a pressure washing video
😃👍🏼
I know we wouldn't watch you do this straight through. But it would be nice to know how long it did take you to scrape that much moss and debris off.
I also like the two scraper design. With the the depression blades a little longer it looks to make getting into the crevices easier.
This job took most of the day. The other side of the roof didn’t have any moss.😃👍🏼
Brilliant
Thanks!🤩👍🏼
Where did you get the long pole from 6:38? Had one from Wickes £10, but was cheap and flimsy so took back. Looking to buy a new one as need doing again. Is it solid or wobbly when using?
I am using a telescopic window cleaners pole.😃👍🏼
@@aemackintosh Where do you buy them? And what brand?
Hey bro great vid dd you rinse after or just let biocide sit.?
Just leave the biocide without rinsing and it acts as a preventative.😃👍🏼
I moved in to my bungalow a short while ago and decided to clean my roof. I am against using any biocide treatment, that's just me, but I did do it in the height of the sun last year which was a mistake in itself, a beautiful sun tan on my head anyway. I found a wire brush and duct taped it to the end of a paint roller extending handle. It did a great job compared to the finish achieved in the video and it's been absolutely clear for the last 9 months but I do not suffer from any tree debris like this owner and with it being my own property and me being an idle layabout pensioner I could afford to take my time.
Great improvisation, and why not. Well done to you too.😃👍🏼
I just moved back to the UK from Florida and the roof on our house is almost this bad. I’m not going up there though to clean it.
😬👍🏼
What biocide are you using? Would it not be advisable to have a form of PPE using the biocide to protect eyesight and airways?
I use AlgoClear Biocide and yes you should use a P3R standard mask.😃👍🏼
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I can’t seem to find any info... what do you do with the moss once removed? Take it away with you? Hire a skip? Leave it in a pile and ask the customer to deal with it? Would appreciate any suggestions.
Usually I ask the customer if they have a compost heap, or there is a particular flower bed where we can dispose of it, or under a bush?😃👍🏼
What is the product that you spray on the roofs to stop moss from growing back? And is it aloud to be drained down into a soak away?
The biocide I use is AlgoClear and it is biodegradable.😃👍🏼
He is either extremely tall or British houses are just short
😆 It is a bungalow, and I’m quite tall as well.😜👍🏼
It’s a bungalow, only has a ground floor, no first floor.
Ours that only have one floor are very low compared to Americans they are called bungalows we don’t have very tall ceilings
Some comments mention using a pressure washer. I wonder if that is a good idea. First, we don't know what condition the roof is in under the moss. Water might leak through damaged areas.
Second, washing the moss down into the gutters might cause a backup of water into the house.
Yes, it should definitely be done with great care.😃👍🏼
What is the system you are using to apply the biocide with the long pole? Do you have a link to the long pole?
It’s a window cleaning pole and pump system. Check out the playlists on my channel. The roof cleaning playlist has loads more about this.👍🏼
Awesome job! What biocide did you use Ashley?
Usually GKPro.👍🏼
Why didn’t you have any ppe on? Also what is that set up with the solution for your pole?
Yes, I should have had better ppe. I put the pump system together myself for the biocide treatment.😃👍🏼
Satisfaying 😀
😎👍🏼
That's one way to scrape a living!
😆👍🏼
Ps, great to watch that be cleaned Ashley 👍
Satisfying!😃👍🏼
Very interesting. Where did get your extension pole? It looks great.
It’s actually an Unger window cleaning pole.😆👍🏼
Great job! I've watched a number of your videos now and I'm very impressed. If fact, based on one of your videos I I bought a Skyvac 85. Can you tell me what bicide do you use and where bought the application tool? Thanks, Nathan at Fascia Gutter
Thanks! I’m glad you find the channel useful. I use AlgoClear biocide. You can get a spray nozzle from DA Components, or quite often I will use an old water fed pole brush with fan jets, works a treat.😃👍🏼
